If The NFL Cuts The Season To 8 Games
Taro T replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You did realize that NHL revenues were UP after both lockouts, right? (So far they are the only major sport to pull that feat and they did it twice.) -
Yep. Having Odomes covering the other team's #2 would have been sweet.
-
I was writing basically the same post when yours popped up. Imagine what might have been if he were still around for the Superbowl run.
-
Gayle Sayers. Yeah, he's in the HoF. But what could have been if he'd've stayed healthy or had the medicine of today back in his day.

Are you really comparing a wall used to keep one country's citizens from "escaping" to freedom to one used to keep terrorists w/ bombs strapped to their belts out of a different one? You don't see a difference between a defensive wall and the Berlin Wall? Wow.

Smith contemplating permanent decertification
Taro T replied to Fixxxer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The owners don't share those revenues, but those ARE included in the revenues calculating the salary cap and the players' %age of revenues. Those, and some other items, weren't included in the prior CBA. -
In job interviews, when they ask: "do you have any...
Taro T replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Pooj, good luck w/ it. No real creative advice to add. When I interviewed, I tried to pull up as much info about the company as I could and then come up w/ specific questions about how recent events or trends had affected the interviewer / company. (Granted, that was a bit more impressive when the research didn't consist entirely of a Google search.) -
3 questions: 1. Haven't the Israelis given back Gaza? 2. How is the Sinai crap? Control of that gives Israel access to seaports to their east and also puts them right at one of the busiest waterways in the world. It also gives them a significant buffer zone against one of the largest militaries in the ME. Of course that buffer zone isn't as important when you've actually signed a peace treaty w/ that country. 3. Are the Golan Heights "good stuff" or "crap"?

Eventually there will be 2 states. Palestine will be Gaza & the West Bank (but not likely w/ the boundaries you'd prefer). Who is this "yourselves" you are referring to? The Israelis, correct? As soon as the Palestinians actually begin offering Israel "peace & peace of mind" you may find they're willing to negotiate. They had an offer on the table that Arafat spurned. And there is no way the Israelis will ever go for the "right of return." Eventually, you'll get your state (if your leaders ever wise up), but you won't get them both.
-
You aren't greedy. You don't need ALL the land that Israel captured in '67. You only want ALL the land that the Palestinians lay claim to (the former Jordan and Egyptian territory minus the Sinai of course), you don't want the Syrian territory (which the Palestinians have never laid claim to). Yeah, that makes you a realist. Out of curiosity, what exactly are you willing to give the Israelis in return? (Or more accurately, what should the Palestinians provide to Israel in return for this land?) Thanks for ignoring my 1st question. And thanks for once again demonstrating your (lack of) reading comprehension w/ the 2nd one. We all know the Arabs DIDN'T attack, we also all know that the only reason was that the Israelis saw the buildups and closing of the Strait and realized they'd better strike 1st. Denial. It's not just a river the Egyptians won't let your people swim in.
-
If they did it for land, why'd they give the bulk of it back? If the Arabs would get their butts handed to them in less than a week by attacking Israel, why do you presume they weren't gearing up to attack Israel the last time they got their butts handed to them in less than a week?

When you go over a full decade w/out winning a playoff game it is tough to build a fanbase from scratch.

Which is why it most likely will be Detroit moving over. The easiest team to move logistically is Nashville. Geographically, Columbus can make a case as well (better than Detroit's). But at the end of the day, I expect Illitch to get his way. It then becomes interesting in how they do realign the divisions. An interesting 1 would be: Canadian/Border Town Buffalo Detroit Montreal Ottawa TO NE Boston NYC LI NJ Filly "South"East Carolina FLA Pittsburgh TB DC If Columbus moved, I'd expect the divisions to be Buffalo Columbus Ottawa Pittsburgh TO Boston Moe-ray-all Rangers Isles/NJ Filly & Carolina FLA NJ/Isles TB Washington In that scenario, it makes more sense geographically to move Filly, but I don't see them having to go to the SE. My guess is they'll send Wang's boys down.

Well, technically, as of ~1-1/2 hours ago there isn't ANY hockey being played at Philips Arena. So, I think your gladiators win by default.

Pretty much. Atlanta's 2 NHL teams never once won a playoff series EVER. This latest incarnation never won a playoff game, getting swept in their only kick at the can. Don Waddell was the GM from day 1, and though he did finally give up that title (but still was club president) his poor decision making was not surmountable in a single year. The Flames never drew less than 12k/game until their last year (building only held slightly over 15k) when the writing was on the wall (and they still drew over 10k). This team had good crowds the 1st few years, but it had a cluster for ownership and Waddell overseeing personnel. There was no way for THAT to be overcome and ultimately, THIS team never had a chance.

Uhhh, by adding his votes to Corwin's votes? Or do you think that Nader had no effect on FLA's 2000 results?
-
Probably because the occupation they are in leads directly to health issues they have in retirement.
-
Both of them.
-
It's not quite that bad. He'll still work 10-15 road games. Considering the alternative was him retiring all together, I'll take it. Linky

And there you have it.

I thought the minions were usually Austrian shepherds. Now they're using Krauts? When'd they make that switch?

That's !@#$ing hilarious. I can believe watching the rest of the movie would be truly torturous having watched the original. But, if they just released that as a short (kind of like the old Looney Tunes) for before a real movie, it would have been great.

Crappy song made tolerable by video: Loverboy's Notorious. Had VERY hot chick in brown dress in it. (Weird thing is, the video seems to have been pulled from Youtube by Sony.)
