This is kinda interesting
Catholic Guilt replied to Nervous Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ummmmm what are you talking about? Frank was the starter for the Panthers in the first year (1995). He was benched after the fourth game and the team suffered the lumps of sticking with Collins. -
Commitment to the running game...
Catholic Guilt replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was at the game - Panthers PSL season ticket holder. Funny how outsiders view the team and the running game. Here in Carolina, we want Delhomme to PASS the ball. Problem with the Panthers, they are predictable and runs the SAME running plays over and over. And remember - when the Panthers were up 32-13 they ran the ball and let Green Bay back into the game. Just some food for thought... -

It's funny you mention that... When we have lunch I always kid him about laces out. -
I know Don Criqui is a WNY'er but he can't factually call a game to save his life and he repeats teh same thing over and over again. "These pros can tackle!"

Hmmmm Drew Bledsoe is doing well in Dallas playing behind three pro-bowlers on the O-line. Makes you wonder?

Yes I remember that game in Tampa well. It started the downward spirial for that season. I think Rob Johnson was Quarterback at the time. -

Are we wearing the throwbacks in any other games this year?

I watched the game Tivoed last night (I was at the Panthers/Saints game) and replayed that over and over. He reminded me of Jim Kelly - getting in someones grill. I remember a game in Pittsburgh where he screamed at Andre Reed for a good ten minutes. Just impressed with him, for a young guy to act like he did gave me some hope.

How do you beat a team...
Catholic Guilt replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I watched the entire game and must say the officials were HORRIBLE. Sure the Raiders played a stupid game, but some of those calls I was left shakiing my head. I hope someone knocks Rodney Harrison's head off this season. I hate him. Thinks he's Jack Tatum. -
One game does not make a season. Remember two years ago? Bills 31 - Pats 0???? Patriots win the Super Bowl that year...

I went through hurricane Hugo in Charlotte, NC. For those who don't know, Charlotte is hundreds of miles inland. We were crushed - broken windows, downed trees and power out for a week. I also went through the blizzard of 77. I'll take the snow ANYDAY. -

Falcons cut Peerless Price
Catholic Guilt replied to Smoker2Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just for you Silver and Red.. AJC.com Flowery Branch -- For the Falcons, the Price was wrong. After months of speculation, the team released wide receiver Peerless Price Tuesday morning, parting with a once highly productive player who failed to live up to lofty expectations and a $37 million contract ($10 million signing bonus) after being acquired from the Buffalo Bills for a first-round draft pick in 2003. Price was told before practice and sped out of the parking lot at team headquarters in his BMW just as the team was beginning to stretch for the day's drills. "I hate y'all," Price said to an AJC photographer, before hustling into his car without further comment. The waiving of Price enables him to catch on with another team before the start of the season. The Tennessee Titans and the Philadelphia Eagles, the Falcons' season-opening opponent, are thin at wide receiver and could be first in line to give Price a chance. As for the Falcons, the biggest question looming has been answered. Now, the team has to find a fifth receiver, which could come either through picking up a veteran who has been released by another team - the Cincinnati Bengals waived former first-round pick Peter Warrick Tuesday - or by signing a player already in camp. Rookie free agents Cole Magner, Romby Bryant and arena leaguer Will Pettis have impressed the coaching staff. The Falcons will save $2 million in salary this season by cutting Price but they will take a $5.7 million hit against the cap next year because his salary-cap figure accelerates. The financial stake with such a move was a key reason the team did not release him earlier this year. However, the signs of his possible departure have been in the works for months. Following 64 and 45 catch seasons and with the coaching staff expressing concerns with his blocking in the run game, the Falcons selected wide receivers Michael Jenkins and Roddy White in the first round of the past two drafts. This summer, they publicly declared Price's starting job open for competition then challenged him over offseason drills. They also kept an eye on his behavior, from how he addressed teammates and coaches to how he handled the often-critical media. Price passed on all counts but was still demoted behind Jenkins when training camp opened. Price never openly complained and was praised for his hard work in practice. In the end, though, he was not deemed a right fit. -
