  1. Since they haven't been mentioned yet, I usually go for the salt and vinegar.  It doesn't matter too much which brand it is, but it's usually the lesser known local ones that work out best.  They have this specific kind in the kitchen area of my office that is incredibly good.  But since I haven't been to that place in ages, I don't remember the name.

Not sure the Morgan timeline jumped the 10 years that TWD has with Negan in Jail and Maggy returning

yeah, that show had a big time jump just to line up with Morgan showing up. Then the main show went and jumped way past them. Given the helicopter stuff, they obviously want to tie it in. I guess that will only line up with the Rick movies and never the main show. Rick’s probably still in the same timeframe as Fear.

  3. It’s been better than the last two seasons anyway. I think it’s because we haven’t seen the trucker twins yet.

And the new show got me thinking yesterday. How did Morgan, Dwight, and Sherry go about crossing the Mississippi? I’m also wondering how all the timelines match up. Fear definitely hasn’t had anything to match the 7 or so year jump on the main show.

  4. It's not new thread worthy, but since this is a hockey thread, I'll post it here.

Travis Roy died yesterday.  The name may not ring a bell but you probably remember the story.  Roy broke his neck seconds into his first shift as a freshman at BU.  It was almost exactly 25 years ago.  As a BU graduate, an athletic department employee, and a many year season ticket holder, I'd have to say he was probably the most beloved person around that building.

I wasn’t worried about Ullmark being hurt by it. I was worried about the arbitrator siding with Ullmark.

Not that it matters at this point, but the arbitrator can pick any number in between the two offers.  I'd be curious to see if an NHL arbitrator has ever set the contract at either side's asking point.  I'm guessing no.  But anyway, specifically with Olofsson, I'd have a hard time picturing the arbitration go towards his number seeing as how he doesn't even have a full season of NHL hockey under his belt.

People get it mixed up with baseball too much, where the arbitrator picks either the team's number or the player's.

  6. I'm about ready to go on a mockingbird massacre around here.  I've got one that quickly nose dives into my garage every time I open it.  The little f-er sits on the light post across the street and dives in the second I step out of the garage.  I then have to chase it out.  I now have to carry my opener on me and close the door immediately or else it will just keep going back in after I chase it out.  If I had enough time and wasn't lazy, I'd put up a giant screen across the whole door just to see if I could trick it.

    It wasn't a fake language--it was Hebrew...

Yeah, I found that detail after I posted.  He was using one language, the "daughter" another.  Either way, they're more than likely throwing around gibberish, don't understand each other, and definitely do not match whatever they decide to put in subtitles.  To me, it felt like with the first one they let the people drive the show a bit more and be idiots.  This one felt much more manipulative, at least the portion I watched.

I’m just glad it wasn’t a 2 year deal that walked Reinhart right to UFA. I was nervous about that happening.

Seems pretty unrealistic on the Sabres part. Ullmark’s ask is a bit high, but not as out of whack as the Sabres offer. I hope such a low ball offer doesn’t end up biting them in the ass in arbitration. I understand what they’re trying to accomplish but Sometimes when one ask is so unreasonable the arbitrator sides more with the reasonable ask/side (Ullmark in this case).

The arbitrator can select any number in between the two offers, so of course the team is going to aim low.  Any player who is hurt by that is being completely dishonest since they're playing the same exact game on their side, setting the bar as high as possible.

Made it about 45 mins and had to cut it. It’s pretty bad.

I don't know if it was 45 minutes, but I did the same thing.  It's been a while, but I remember the first one being mostly mindless fun, but this one was continuously hammering the same message over and over.  That and there was way too much of the stupid stuff with the daughter up to the point where I stopped (shortly after the abortion jokes).  I understand why they had to add her because too many people know him, but she added next to nothing.  The two of them constantly yelling back and forth in a fake language?  It's obnoxious and not the least bit funny.

Thanks, but there are multiple lights, each with 4 small bulbs inside. My thick, stubby hands have a really hard time changing a single bulb. If my wife is over whatever she’s suffering from now, I’ll suggest that to Little Miss Piano Fingers.

Ok, you’ll have to burn it down

Thanks, I’m sure it will be fine in the end, but she feels like crap now whatever it is (and it could be anything!).

Our situation is kinda funny, we have this complicated photoelectric deal on a timer. We are both afraid to mess with it for fear we will need to hire a grad student from Georgia Tech to come get it back to where we currently have it. We even had one electrician give up on figuring it out. The lights will be on.  No need to poke the bear!

I just don’t see it as being worth it this year. Of course, our youngest is 27, so he won’t be nagging me!

just take the light bulb out

First episode of the new show was good, really good actually.  The next two were meh.  They are definitely looking like they are all going to tie together and with the movies too.

The last scene in tonight's Fear was awesome.

I'll admit I was a few drinks in last night and don't remember if it was the last scene.  Are you talking about Daniel and Morgan?  If they can snap Daniel out of his funk over the last couple years, that's a duo I want to see.  Please let those guys carry the show.

The moderation here has almost been non-existent., so it certainly wasn't biased. DR had 55k posts in here. C'mon, man.

I am not aware of a single person whose viewpoint was suppressed. I personally acted on member v. member events. Any other suggestion isn't true.

Are you able to see a breakdown of people’s post by location? I’ve seen you make this “55k” claim a couple times and now have seen someone else run with it. Rhino’s post were not exclusively in this forum. I don’t touch the Q stuff here and I’ve had several interactions with him over the years, usually in movie related threads. Now it’s possible I am remembering some interactions with his old name, but even a quick look at his profile shows posts all over the place. Im sure the ratio probably does lean heavily towards PPP, but this one has been bugging me when I’ve seen it.

  14. What exactly is the difference between an open club and what this forum currently is? That’s one thing I’ve never been clear on since you started them here and on sabrespace. I see that they can have their own moderators, but does that mean you and your mods never touch them or can’t touch them (other than you, of course)? I’d have to imagine that if you became aware of something you don’t want on your site, you and probably others have the power to shut that down.

So if that’s the case, is it essentially a sub-forum with an additional moderator or two?

Boy, paying a defenseman on the wrong side of 30 that kinda coin for that term is risky.

I'm really curious to see Hall in Blue and Gold.  He's a real difference maker.

I didn't realize he was already 30.  The bigger guys always seem to break down quicker, which makes me wonder how in the hell Chara lasted as long as he has.  I can't remember ever seeing such a huge difference between the contracts signed by the top two free agents.  I'm still baffled by what the Sabres pulled off.

All I can think of is a while back when Selanne and Kariya as a package deal both signed one year deals with the Avs.  Where is our second part of the package?

    Ahhhhhh...the risk injury arguement.

Name the last 3 good NHL players that got hurt in their contract year and lost out on big paydays.

They don't typically get to that point.  You look across the recent history of this league and you'll find a long list of long-term contracts since the money is guaranteed.  This one is a rarity.  Do you seriously think the expansion draft actually crossed Hall's mind for even a second?  That's a far more outlandish theory than anything else stated here.

And it may not necessarily have been in contract years, but I can think of several NHL players who lost significant amounts of money due to injuries.  My mind immediately goes to head injuries and to guys like Pat LaFontaine, Paul Kariya, and Eric Lindros.  I'd be much more interested in look at the guys who ended their career fairly recently due to injury but still soaked in multi-year contracts after that injury:

-Marc Savard (played 25 games out of a 7 year $28 million contract)

-David Clarkson (played roughly 2 years worth of a 7 year $37 contract)

-Rick DiPietro still looking at 10 more years of checks from the Islanders

  17. 38 minutes ago, Beast said:

Again, no that isn't what he's doing.

Have you ever stopped to think Hall

wants to be here long-term and there is the expansion draftvnext season and the Sabres can only protect so many players? Hall will be a UFA at the time of the expansion draft next season and the Sabres will not have to protect him.

And Hall has a NMC, NTC clause in this contract so that theiry of yours that they will move him doesn't hold water.

The Sabres are already talking about Hall being here long-term. He will be unless thos season totally goes south.

And, again, GM's aren't going to back up the Brinks truck because of one season with Jack Eichel. GM's around the league have had many years to see whT exactly Taylor Hall is.

So he's willing to risk injury on a one year deal just to help a team with the expansion draft?  He's rolling the dice on earning a much bigger contract and there's nothing wrong with that.  Still, it's a big game.  Strangely enough, he made it on the same day that Dak Prescott's ankle exploded.

If it was actually about the expansion draft, which player exactly are they saving because of it?  Looking over the roster, you're getting down to the likes of Thompson/Mittelstadt/Girgensons.  I really don't see a "you'd hate to lose that guy" beyond the limit of what we can protect among the forwards.

    Eichel

    Reinhart

    Skinner (required to protect)

    Okposo (required to protect)

    Olofsson

They can protect 7 forwards, unless they want to save more than 3 defensemen.  I can't see them too worried about any of the D beyond Dahlin/Jokiharju, so they'll stick to just 3 D.  So unless we add another long-term forward or 2, Hall being added to that protection list would still leave an open slot for whichever of the two kids steps up this year.  I guess you can now protect both worry-free, but I don't expect both Thompson and Mittelstadt to both thrive this year.
