But that is the EXACT trade off you make in this passing league. You absolutely allow some runs in order to shut down the pass. Running doesnt score points, and points are the only stat that matters at the end of the game. We have the 6th overall Defense, we are 5th in fewest points allowed, but like 26th in rushing yards allowed. Down there right above the Jets and their heralded defense as well. Stopping the pass wins games. Our Defense isnt the problem.

Outside of 2 plays that gained 56 yards and only resulted in a FG, we held Barkley to 37 yards on 22 carries (1.7avg). And then shut that trap play down with a LB adjustment, and the RBs didnt gain a single yard the rest of the game. We didnt get shredded, and the defense isnt the problem.

No it isnt. It's a knock on the Offense, sure. But it could be a knock on the OC for not scheming guys open. A knock on the GM for not getting enough talent. A knock on the WRs for not getting separation. And sure, possibly a knock on the QB for not executing better. You are jumping to one specific negative conclusion about a very broad and complex subject. The overall point without getting offended by it is simply we have a key Offensive player with a diverse set of high level skills, and arent using all of them, and we should be using all of the skills of the guy who touches the ball every play.

Thats not what it means at all. At all. Rather, it's simple math. Allen being a running threat, and a MAJOR running threat at that, meant Defenses had to keep a guy around to spy him if they wanted to stop it. If not, then we'd gash them until they did. And then that would open up the passing game for everyone else. Even our JAGs were getting open as Josh was setting records for most individual receivers with passes caught. Now, with no running threat, the numbers tip back into the Defense's favor. They can cover Diggs AND take away the rest of the guys who are by no means world beaters. We must run Josh. Like 3-5 called QB runs the entire game, with a couple of those coming early to set the tone and show the Defense that extra wrinkle. He also needs to be given back the green light to scramble 5 yards for the 1st when it's there, and keep the chains moving, than throw an awkward pass to an unexpecting WR who drops it and kills the drive. Josh's legs are a major part of this O, and we've lost them.

Seems like the biggest knock on Harty isnt with his play when he is actually on the field, but with how we are (or aren't) using him and his salary. Those knocks are on Coaching and FO. Harty, the player, so far seems more reliable in that I havent witnessed him making a bonehead play yet, and we're 6 games in. (McKenzine made it 17 plays last year) He's likely an upgrade over McKenzie. $4.5M aint that much right now. Hopefully they can figure out how to use him more because so far I like what I've seen. edit: Just looked up McKenzie's contract. $1.2M. The $3.3M difference is worth it to not have the bonehead plays. You get what you pay for.

Between rookie contract and 5th year option, we have Rousseau locked up until we can get out of Miller's contract in 2024. No problem there, the money will come. Epenesa MUST be re-signed. He and Rousseau are the future of our DEs. With the way AJ is playing, it is foolish to call him a backup. He's in a rotation right now, but could just as easily "start" as Floyd (who I love). I'd like to see AJ re-signed, and Floyd and Jones extended. Rousseau will get 5th year optioned. Then we dont have to worry about anything for 2 more years.

Tyrod had the best play for the Bills all game when he checked to that run before the half. Totally changed the game, and was probably the biggest reason the Giants lost.

Josh needs at least 3 called designed runs, with at least 1 coming on the opening drive. And at least 2-3 real scramble runs. This keeps the Defense planning for it and sways the numbers game to our favor. I'm fine with 4 or more, especially when a couple of them should be sneaks/tush-push when we only need 1 yard. Which we apparently even stopped doing THOSE last night. Ridiculous.

Some fans who live in fear wanted that, but I never did. Josh DOES the hitting when he runs. QBs get injured in the pocket way more than on the run. Josh running was a keystone of our offensive success. Newton's issues were more from refs allowing defenders to hit him dirty in the pocket than getting hit on runs. RUN, JOSH, RUN!
