I think stevie makes great moves off of the line, and has a basketball essence to him. Athletically he's not the most gifted guy in the world. He would make a great # 2 if complimented by a true # 1. In my opinion, Thurman should go down as one of the best receivers in Bills history. Catching the ball was a big part of his dynamic game. He was somewhat of a pioneer in a sense. Personally, I think the receivers who have had the best and longest careers have partially benefitted from a great set of circumstances. From the quarterback, to other receivers, good tight ends, a solid running game, and especially a good coaching staff. No position in the NFL is one size fits all these days. It's hard to compare players that play a different style to other players in their same position simply because they all fall under the same position name. You would not compare what Calvin Johnson does to what a guy like Wes Welker does. Its apples to oranges. It seems to me that more and more the NFL is becoming a league where players are hybrid combinations of more than 1 position. Especially the offensive specialties. Vernon Davis is a 6'3" 254lb "Tight End" that runs a 4.38 40 yd dash. Calvin Johnson is a 6'5" 245lb receiver. Percy Harvin is a wide receiver that lines up regularly at running back. Tavon Austin will likely be lined up all over the field. There are many other examples of this, but you get the drift. Simply ranking players in a vacuum is completely arbitrary. In the end I enjoy the thought provoking conversations, but for anyone to assume that their opinion is anything more than an opinion lends homage to the cliche about opinions and A-holes.

Go ahead and read into my post however you want, but it was a simple statistic. My post was in response to the post which stated that moulds was X many yards from 5 consecutive 1,000 yard seasons. I was pointing out that Stevie is the only Bills receiver to ever even have 2 consecutive 1,000 yd seasons. I never stated that Stevie was ranked in the top (pick your ranking) amongst bills receivers. Your post lacks some context as well....Reed played with a pretty good team (including 6 other receivers/tight ends appearing on your rankopedia list). To say that those who surrounded Reed, Lofton, Beebe, Metzelaars, Riemersma, Moulds etc didnt make their stats better and their lives easier truly lacks context. Also, I have to wonder why you post as though this rankopedia means anything? The same guy that authored this ranking list also ranked Buffalo Bills all time QB's in the following order: 1) Jim Kelly 2) Joe Ferguson 3) Jack Kemp 4) JP Losman 5) Trent Edwards 6) Doug Flutie 7) Drew Bledsoe....etc. The receivers list also has Roscoe Parrish listed as 12th of all time receivers/tight ends in Bills history, ranked ahead of Stevie Johnson and Pete Metzelaars. Just because something comes up in a google search doesnt make it true. One man's opinion is just that...an opinion.

Stevie is the only receiver in bills history with back to back 1000yd seasons. So saying moulds was close to 5 consecutive 1000 yd seasons is false.

Not sure about tight end position, but I do know Dorin Dickerson was considered a TE...with a 4.4 40yd dash. Easley ran a 4.39 at the combine. Spiller 4.27 Goodwin 4.27 Graham 4.29 Easley 4.39 Dickerson 4.4 Who knows how it will shake out...but on paper we definitely have world class speed offensively.
-
Dorin Dickerson's # was changed to 82 and he is now listed as a WR as per this article. Ideal size for a WR. Great upside. Great athlete. Still young. I feel as though he and Marcus Easley are the type of raw athletes that can develop given the right coaches. Put these guys in a position to succeed and they can become good role players. 4.4 40 yd dash at 226 lbs... Why wouldn't he be able to stretch the field.

Pettine bought josh reed's house from him in OP...no link but my brother had the listing for josh reed -
Met Wheatley the other day at the bills' offices. Was shocked how big of a guy he is... Said the kids are finishing School in cuse before heading over. I'm guessing St.francis, st.joes, O.P. Someone spoke of bills connections to st.joes however st.francis is very connected to the bills and the rest of the NFL through many many alumni connections.

A buddy of mine that spent many years on the offensive line for the bills and spent some time working with the Vols' offensive line last summer says great things about Dallas Thomas. Noted his versatility... Thomas played tackle for 2 seasons and guard for his final season. My friend also said he thinks Thomas would be able to transition well into the center position if necessary. He also said Thomas is known for his toughness. Also heard the bills are high on him. Although he wasnt able to participate in his senior day or the combine due to a torn labrum in his shoulder... He never missed a game in 3 years of SEC play.
-
He had a 9 catch 138 yd game when nicks was injured.

Looks like he's interested in leaving the giants. Wants a fresh start. He has the ideal size 6'7" and 220lbs. Any interest?

Why is Russ B at the Combine?
RalphOP83 replied to Niagara Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The combine is so much more than just player workouts. It is a huge convention for businesses and people that work with/for the NFL. A ton of nfl business gets done at the combine...business of all sorts. -
Something a former member of our team said to me recently
RalphOP83 replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm willing to guarantee it wasn't lee. Know him well and that's just not something he'd say. I'm also very close with another former player that played in buffalo and played in another big city and football town... He wouldn't make this remark about the bills. He's still a big fan... Goes to every game. He always tells a story about getting drafted by the bills and all of his buddies/other players being jealous. This was right around Super Bowl era. Win and they will come. -
My First Bills Game. Need help!
RalphOP83 replied to benbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The mulberry is fantastic... Blows chefs out of the water and has a much more expansive menu than chefs...it is also plunk right down between downtown and orchard park... Many many bills/celebrities/athletes eat there on a regular basis... Favorite restaurant in WNY... Tempo and Hutch's are good upscale spots... Hutch's also has a great bar menu (steak sandwich is amazing)... Left bank is also a favorite. Steer clear of anchor bar... Big tree, bar bill, marmosers for bar food JP Fitzgeralds in hamburg has a big menu, great food, and a great bar... Fish fry on Friday is fantastic -
Lee Evans - back in Buffalo
RalphOP83 replied to nick in* england's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lee asked to be released... That's the reason he was cut... He has gotten offers from the cowboys and dolphins but turned them both down... Straight from the horse's mouth. -

From Tim Graham chat: Mario owns the locker room
RalphOP83 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you've ever been in the locker room you know the community fridges are about 30 ft from any given locker at most....and fully stocked with all goods any athlete needs.... Also, one of his teammates posted a twitter pic of mario's locker with the fridge in it...making fun of him...but who knows what the whispers amongst the players were when this went down.... I'm so sick of the patty cake moves by mario with his hands when the ball is snapped....I sat in a former players' box for last week's game that played with bruce...said bruce had his assignments but his instinct was still to always go after the ball...mario needs to start bull rushing more...and start using his instincts more -
Watching peppers is a breath of fresh air as well... Uses his power and size... Never quits...

What is going on in downtown Buffalo this weekend
RalphOP83 replied to BuffaloBobby's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Colter bay has a good beer selection and decent food. Allen street hardware is a decent spot...not far from Tempo if you are looking for a killer meal. -
anchor bar does suck...rat infested tourist trap (my cousin works there and told me the place is disgusting...rats everywhere) and the wings suck too

Check out the hotel Lafayette, embassy suites, or Hampton inn

Bad Strategy.. Kick off specialist..
RalphOP83 replied to Meark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chan is very into statistical analysis....someone from the bills staff told me his reasoning...and I'd repeat it but i dont have the stats down completely (few brews that day) ....something along the lines of if the opponent starts at the 25 or less X% of the time then X yada yada yada.... flame away but his reasoning has statistical basis -
Hate to be this guy but its called The Bar Bill Tavern....and bring cash cuz they dont accept cards. Mammoser's in hamburg has some pretty solid wings if u like em' crispy and not very saucy. Big Tree is my personal favorite and right next to the stadium (but i'm a little biased) Try the wings at gabriels' gate downtown on allen.
