Y do u lie? I saw the whole intro and did not hear that. If McCain wants to run ads regarding Bidens criticism of Obama he better not choose Mitt than.
-
HA! If the republicons are going to try and make controversy out of that I wish them a lot of luck. Awhile ago I thought the choice would have been Richardson, more recently I was kind of hoping Hillary, now while never a big Biden fan I think the choice serves its purpose.
-
A pretty simple, safe choice. No controversy here.

Exactly, another entrenched politico. My friend from the NYCLU was defending Hoyt at the bar yesterday, saying what a great guy Hoyt is and all the correct positions he holds and all I could think of was John Edwards.
-
If you do the history on Illuzzi you'll know that he's shady to put it mildly. I mean the guy served time for being a getaway driver in a bank heist. That said I've never been a fan of Sam Hoyt. Earlier this month one of his campaign workers came to my door, wouldn't leave really until I answered it, and seemed genuinely annoyed and surprised when I mentioned I wasn't supporting Sam when the neighbors all around me were. I always considered him to be something of an empty suit. I've never really met Hoyt though his kid goes to the same school as mine, I just know that I'm really not a big fan of his for positions he has taken on school construction among other things.

Defending the indefensible of the lamest of lameduck presidents, this board can truly be a hoot. Public opinion may shift, interest rates might fluctuate, hairstyles change but there is always the constant of the ppp crowds luv of everything Bush. Incredible! -
the swiftboating of Obama
Bishop Hedd replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm responding to Bowery's post in regard to "swiftboating" being the wrong term. The quote I took from the article is not only the opinion of the author but others as well. The same fringe wingnuts who trashed Kerry in '04 are now back for another grab at the brass ring in '08. -
the swiftboating of Obama
Bishop Hedd replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Well then what would you call it? "It's not that surprising to see such tactics from the people who painted a war hero as a traitor in 2004." http://www.buffalonews.com/248/story/417999.html -
the swiftboating of Obama
Bishop Hedd replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
No I think there's something wrong when bitter Hillary supporters still hold a candle for her entrenched "gravitas". I'll forget the right fringe slime machine for this post and answer those such as yourself who feel Clinton was the right choice in the primary season. You must realize that many, and I do mean many, weren't too happy with her rolling over for Bush Cheney's ignorant war yet this doesn't seem to phase you...for whatever reason. And while the Corsi's and Floyd's are doing their usual hatchet job for the republican cause let's not forget it was Hillary, her husband and their surrogates who first laid the slime on Obama thick and heavy back when the right was sure that they would run against Hillary. I have no respect for old DLC hacks just as I'm sure you have no respect for Obama for not being an entrenched politico. Primary season is long over. Move on. -

the swiftboating of Obama
Bishop Hedd replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm not talking about democratic feelings about Obama, I'm referring to the legendary slime machine of the right fringe now in full force appearently. It can all be summed up fairly will in this cartoon: http://www.salon.com/comics/tomo/2008/08/12/tomo/ All the things you mentioned about Obama are the same things said of Bush back in 2000...and how did he fare (supreme court decisions aside) in the elections? You don't think interspersing shots of Obama speaking with Chuck Heston as Moses are just slightly surreal, to say nothing of daffy? -
the swiftboating of Obama
Bishop Hedd replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
But at least the Obama ad is talking about an issue like the economy while McCain is playing bizarre ads starring Britney and Paris, whose dad by the way is a heavy McCain contributer. All the republiscum have come out now, Corsi, Floyd, etc. we're just waiting on O'Neil. When patently false, discredited idiocy like Obama being raised a muslim is given creedence by the wacked out right wing media like Fox we should all be ashamed for not being able to discern the truth from bull. Even worse I guess is the idea the wacked out right republiCons continues to propagate that being of a different religion is somehow bad. Par for the course for republiCons. -
Yeh, U see it starting now..on this board and with the swiftboat bozos for Bush crew. Recent lying, hateful racist diatribes against Obama form the basis for a widely discredited book Obama Nation. whatever it takes for the wacky right fringe I guess.

According to whom? As someone who has followed this campaign all year long, since Obama pretty much clinched the nomination, I had yet to hear Edwards' name mentioned as a possible VP candidate at all. I've heard both Senators from Virginia mentioned, Richardson, Clinton, Bayh, the senator from Kansas whatever her name is, Biden, the republican Hagel, even Al Gore for chrissakes but no Edwards, unless you mean the congressman from Texas. Only recently have some in the corporate media come down with a case of revisionism and decided to tack Edwards name on the list to pump life into this inane story. This also ignores the fact that this is the media saying this...how in the world would you know what Obama was thinking in regard to his VP choice, let alone possible cabinet positions? Leave the suppositions to Rush, Fox and the Enquirer please.
-
I must not have done the research but does John Edwards currently hold a government position?
-
You know this MIGHT have meant something had it been revealed like half a year ago but as it stands know it clearly resides in the who gives a damp fart catagory. I mean it isn't like the republican candidate for president having a romantic liason for years with a telecommunications lobbyist is it? Edwards dropped out of the race awhile ago, wasn't being remotely considered for the VP spot so what's the point now. Not being much of a fan of Edwards (I liked him even less than Hillary) I'm disappointed and upset over the potential damage he could have caused for the party and the continuation of a republicon nation but that didn't happen so who cares. But if it gives the republicon crew here the opportunity to toot the horn of their media favorites (Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and the National Enquirer) then bully for them. It's not like they have much to cheer about now anyways.
-
That's right, keep telling yourself that.

Given the way the McCain campaign has been going lately this is fitting. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/miami-dade/story/631908.html The McCain campaign's implosion is still not being picked up by the corporate mainstream media yet. The candidate's countless gaffes on the Middle East are still going relatively unreported by the MM. Another McCain doozy was to pimp out his botoxed wife to some nude beauty contest.

Bush foreign policy as comic book
Bishop Hedd replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yeah, box office success definitely merits critical kudos. That's why pieces of crap like The Passion of the Christ, Forrest Gump and the last three Star Wars films are such great flicks...because of their ticket take. I caught Batman the first day it opened and was surprised to find myself with maybe only 15 other people in the theater. I guess some didn't buy all the pre-hype. Face it, without capitalizing on its stars' unfortunate demise this turgid garbage would have sank like a stone. Two and a half hours of negative repetition, confused visuals and incoherent theme was much more than this movie fan could tolerate. Thank god for Ironman to save the summer blockbuster season. But I guess Ironman's theme of the redemption of a weapons manufacturer would be too much for the republicons to appreciate. -
Many republicons are hailing the dreadful and unredeeming new Batman flick as a metaphor for the great job our fearless "leader" has done in the middle East. http://washingtonindependent.com/view/batmans-dark-knight I tend to think of Bush and Cheney as Archie and Jughead.

Obama love and a historical footnote
Bishop Hedd replied to finknottle's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Ya know I thought something was up. -
In what the republicons were hoping would be a massive failure, Obama's trip to Iraq showed up both the Bush administration and the foundering McCain campaign thanks to a mutual agreement between the democratic presidential candidate and Iraq's PM Maliki. http://www.buffalonews.com/180/story/396909.html Now both Bush and McCain, realizing their foreign policy is basically a dog, have decided to swing over to Obama's side with the bizarre new agey term "Time Horizon", another way of saying our ideas suck so we'll just crib Obama's ideas and go from there. While Obama's trip has pretty much been deemed a success, McCain was in the Queen City yesterday milking the second poorest city in the country for over a cool million. Desperation takes hold.
