  1. Yes we can - we did it a few times last year with Jimmy L back there with Roscoe. Some teams do it so the punt returner has a personal protector kinda like the punter does. With McLovin', we can rest the actual starter (McGee) late in games, as well as force the punter to pick his poison. We could probably also start using the rarely done reverse on KR and PR.
  2. A few things: 1. When Nate was here, we were primarily a match-up defense pre-Jauron - for an example of this, see the Miami game where he lost it because a reporter thought he was "scared" to cover Chambers on the last play. 2. Monte Kiffin himself has debunked the erroneous assertion that a premier corner is not needed in the Tampa 2. Point blank he stated, "when we put eight in the box, we can't play cover 2. when we play nickel, we can't play cover 2. you give me a guy that can play man well, I'll stick him in the slot and I'll teach him zone." So, despite your thoughts to the contrary PG, corners ARE in fact important. Another Tampa 2 buster - trips to one side or double tight end sets instantly call off the cover 2. 3. You are dead on with the positions. McGee if memory serves has been (with the exception of a few series in weeks 1-3) the left corner and insert corner here has been right, with Greer making himself a fixture towards the end. Good discussion PG
  3. That is true, knowing Viti, he'd just shake hands or just walk back to the bench...Army and Navy are always fun teams to watch!
  4. I'm getting goosebumps thinking about Viti plowing the way for Marshawn to run a TD in...and they salute each other!
  5. Ladies and Gentlemen, we officially have The Buffalo Soldier...
  6. Mike Viti, FB Army signed with the Bills http://www.recordonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...80343/-1/SPORTS Positives: Has a thick, highly muscular frame (built more like a heavyweight wrestler) with minimal body fat (8.6%), very thick neck and chest, broad shoulders, flat back and large, strong hands...Has a tight waist and thick thighs and calves...Despite several injuries that would sideline others, he has never missed a game due to an injury...Excels in pass protection, keeping his head on a swivel with hands ready to reset and recoil with good force to rock the defender back...Physical lead blocker who can consistently widen rush lanes...Has a low center of gravity and great leg drive to clear space and push back oncoming second-level defenders trying to plug the gaps...Shows good pad level and power as a short-yardage runner...Effective outlet receiver who gets into his short-area patterns nicely, but does not have the speed to be a downfield threat...Consistently breaks tackles and shows good explosion on contact attacking the defender when blocking in-line...Has very good field vision, and is alert to stunts and games...Shows good balance and body lean squeezing through tight areas...Has reliable hands catching out of the backfield and makes good body adjustments to sustain as a blocker...Plays with fiery emotion and is the team's hardest worker in the training room...Stays low to the ground to root out defenders on pulls and traps...Not sudden, but stays within his patterns running short area routes...Has natural hands, doing a good job of catching the ball away from his frame...Generates explosive hip roll to generate pop on contact coming out of his stance and into the rush lanes...Good position blocker who anchors well and is hard to push back into the pocket in pass protection. Negatives: Has not missed a game due to injury, but has a history of knee problems (meniscus tears)...Lacks the second gear to pull away from defenders after the catch and has marginal initial quickness (can lose sight of edge rushers when he is slow to get into position)...Strictly a straight-line runner, with no hip shake or moves to separate...Lacks the speed to stretch the field vertically...Despite punishing blocking skills, he will get a bit impatient and lunge at defenders rather than wait for the action to come to him, and lacks the recovery skills to get back into position when this happens. Compares To: MIKE KARNEY-New Orleans...While West Virginia's Owen Schmitt is regarded as the draft's top fullback, Viti can rival the Mountaineer as the best blocker in this draft. Viti has brute strength that made one scout describe his physique as "having muscles coming out of his muscles." He is a capable short-area route runner, but will never win a foot race, even with a second-level defender. With West Point allowing their cadets to pursue a professional career immediately, Viti could be a steal as a free-agent pickup.
  7. Watch him at 5:35 in this video. Mind you this is against a FL State Team built for SPEED. http://youtube.com/watch?v=3wTSX9xwg2s&feature=related

  9. Watch this and see if he's just "Camp Fodder"... I was hoping we'd get Steve (said "Stevie") Johnson - http://www.onnetworks.com/videos/draftguys...r?autoplay=true
  10. http://www.onnetworks.com/videos/draftguys...l?autoplay=true Just started playing football in 2005! RAW, but worth it at LT.
  11. According to Bills he will play on all four ST units. Considering we lost our Capt and 3 ST'ers, getting a guy who will "start" in such a critical area (With McGee, 'Scoe and McLovin') should be strong for us...I would think....
  12. It came out during the SuperBowl week statements about Walsh. The way Goodell and co tried to sell it, that was supposedly something that was part of the story when it first came out, but no news source had that in their articles back in September...
  13. Don't forget the hullaballoo that occured with his facebook photos, showing lots of money and white substances in baggies. Some GM's may freak out that their star CB is advocating the drug dealin' lifestyle. What about a guy like Charles Godfrey out of Iowa? Can play all four secondary positions, hits like a truck and has wheels...
  14. He gets to hear the announcement via the production crew who sees the card. Typically he's had more time, but the last few years he's been getting it at the last second. I think.
  15. Our run game for said coach would be dramatically improved if the threat to occasionally pass existed. In addition, it's not a reach unless you view it to be so. If we beat three of the teams we lost to, would that make it a non-reach? At the end of the day, let them draft who they want, and if they're wrong we'll find out in 5 years or so.
  16. Getting Doresy for the Jets is trading Robertson to get a younger Robertson. No dice IMO.
  17. Someone mentioned earlier, if we had beaten the eagles, broncos and the browns, he wouldn't be a reach. With that in mind, I say pick who you want and let God sort it out!
  18. Pyrite, Don't want to hate, but the corners play cover 3, 4 and man-trail at times, so there is a bit of a need to at least cover some of the time... Cover 2 is primarily used on third down if that, depending on the down and distance...Same with Tampa 2...
  19. By sheer dumb luck I was able to get my guys in rounds 1 and 2a (Dorsey and Sims) via auto-select and then turn around and pick up Flacco and Nelson in round two. Re-make, here we come!
  20. Martellus Bennett, TE TAMU
  21. Burton, Shields or Johnston - but I think Johnston may be gone before RD 3 is over... Rucker would be a nice two-fer with his brother...
  22. The Atlanta Falcons select Joe Flacco, QB Delaware
  23. That was an example though Astro, he wasn't saying CB specifically. Case in point, WRs can go from Average to bleh real quick after 11 until 41. And if we're having issues re-signing Evans, don't you want a possible 2 that can grow into the 1? With athletes that play corner and safety to be had in rounds two and three, I think round one is a lineman (offense or defense) or a wr.
  24. Take the Vikes' Deal, and with that "free" third, pick up DT Red Bryant, TAMU. We'll love him just as much as we did Pat!
