Yeah, I'm disagreeing with the notion that you'd have to reach. You can disagree on this, too. If he passes on WR at #28, it better be because he is trading back into the early second to take a WR. Legette, Mitchell, McConkey, those three at least ought to be targets. I'd try and grab one of the first two and McConkey.
-
I don't, and if he means that, it is irresponsible. WR, maybe in the first two rounds. And there will be WRs worth #28 on the board.
-
I think it is unlikely as well. Something like McConkey and Legette is more achievable. I've been high on both of them, so I'd be happy to see that happen.
-
Well, I'd be good with a trade up for one of the top 3, and a somewhat less expensive trade up for Thomas, but if they go the combo route, this is the one I like.
-
You were right about the Diggs' rumors. It must have been bad, because short-term, it's a problem for the WR room. The return was obviously the best they could do. Now, clearly, 2 early WR picks is more plausible.
-
I think it needs to be #28 and a trade up from #60. Get me Legette and McConkey.
-
He sure is fun to watch.

I've really focused on the day 1 to mid second round fellas. I would not want to invest a second in Walker or Burton, but maybe that is what you'd have to do to get them. Supposedly Burton is a very loose cannon. Polk, Pearsall and Roman Wilson I like in the second, but I want one of the WRs you and I agree on. Javon Baker is another fella I like a bit later. Cornelius Johnson is my late round flier guy.
-
I'm guessing D.J. Burns is intended.

If they are trading the 2025 1st to move up, I hope they go big and trade up into the top 10 to grab a top 3 WR if someone falls. (It would cost more than #28 and next year's first to do so, I know.) But I would take Thomas as a solid choice, though that would be a high price to pay. Not sure I would. Coleman I just don't like, even at the top of the second, so I'll have to hope I am wrong if he is the pick. I like Mitchell, Legette, and McConkey there. Anyway, going to be a long three-and-a-half weeks while we endlessly rehash the scenarios.
-
Coleman may be the most polarizing WR in the draft, followed by Franklin. I don't trust either of them, but some of the folks who like them are certainly bright. Looks like the experts are all over the map on the next tiers, though it seems BTJ is nearly always in the top 5. Maybe Beane will have a plan to go get him. If not, I think you stick at #28, and decide based on what's on the board and what trade back deals are available.
-
Understood. I like an entirely different set of players. Thomas, Mitchell, or Legette as a big X. McConkey if they go outside that box. I don't think Gabe and Shakir is where they ought to be aiming, though Shakir is a nice player, and Gabe, while inconsistent, obviously had his moments. I'll be surprised if Davis flourishes enough to justify the payday he got in free agency.
-
Maybe you're right, but I'd be unhappy if he is the main selection at WR. If he's a second option, that's fine, but it appears unlikely, given the lack of a third round pick. Beane can move around a bit. I expect he will try and get back into the third, but some of those early picks are going to DL and probably S, though I wouldn't rule out OL, or even, given past proclivities, RB.

Traded back multiple times. Posting this one as an example of how I think the edge position ought to be addressed in this particular draft. 39. Ladd McConkeyWR Georgia 69. Cole BishopS Utah 80. I dunno. I don't always read in the context of a thread, so if it is dependent on that sort of interaction, maybe it is. I still say, btw, that trying to get an X like Thomas, Mitchell, or Legette is worth the risk, though I have also consistently said I love McConkey. I agree with the fella who says McConkey and Kincaid would be a natural and excellent pairing.
-
Fortunately, you can find very good players at those positions in the third round and on day 3.
-
Well, let's hope so.

I don't know what you paid to get #14, but I suspect it was too much. And you held onto #28? Something illegal is involved. I traded back from #60 in order to acquire two day 2 picks. This is perhaps more realistic. 28. Adonai MitchellWR Texas 80. Javon BullardS Georgia 97. Braelon AllenRB Wisconsin 128. Tanor BortoliniOC Wisconsin 133. Jordan JeffersonDT LSU 144. That only happens if Beane is trading high picks from 2025, because from his list, Latu and Sweat in a best case scenario cost you #28 and #60. That in itself has an outside chance on a propitious couple of days. I don't think that it is too likely, and then where are your two WRs? Most likely way after the run on WR that will peter out around pick 45 or so, which means you are no longer getting even late third tier WRs. That would be a massive fail given the quality of WR in this draft.
-
Latu might fall because of the injury concern, though I share that concern. I mostly have a different list at WR. I like Thomas, Mitchell, Legette, and then I like McConkey, who isn't an X, though he can play outside. I am biased, because an UGA fan, but I think he is going to be better than many imagine. I like Polk and Baker the best from the rest of your selections. I've said a few times here that I am afraid McD is going to rush the podium to select Cooper Dejean. Newton is the only fella that could fall to #28 that I wouldn't blame them for taking, though I strongly favor WR.
-
I presume ahead of time that most folks recognize that everyone is making a guess, educated or not. And so much depends on the specific situation that offers or complicates the opportunity presented to a player. All that said, in any field, one ascertains which voices hold a degree of authority for you. That Cosell was off on Mingo doesn't really answer to whether Mitchell will turn out well or not. In a similar, analogous way, the Bills making a trade up for Watkins years ago bears zero import for whether any other putative trade up for WR would work out well or not. Anyway, I am not tied to Mitchell. It's a shame we are not really in a position to move up for one of the top 3. All you can do is take your shot and hope for the best. This is the question that occurs to me as well, but I was distracted and too lazy to ask it. I have those two ahead of Coleman for the reason you stipulate.
-
So, he has to play where Kincaid plays most of the time? I don't think I like that. I wish Odunze would fall far enough to make a play for him. (I presume he is WR3.) I'd gamble on Thomas' traits, but even he is probably out of reach. I think Legette is the next best play at WR that is likely to be there at #28, but I think Franklin might be their pick. Read an article comparing Franklin to Diggs. And Worthy might be an option, but neither of them is a big X.
-
I know you think you're brighter than the rest of us. The wise are few, but taking an unpopular opinion doesn't mean you're right. As I wrote above, I like the player, just not the cost. And I gave alternatives that I think are excellent players. If you view Dejean as a unicorn, that might justify the choice, but I know from other threads we just have strong strategic and interpretive differences.
-
I'd much rather find a way to trade back up into the third and take Javon Bullard or Cole Bishop. WR in round one or trade back into the early second and take WR. That should be the play. I don't like the edge players likely to be there at #28. If Newton is sitting there, I'll understand taking him at #28. He's a really good player, but it's not what I would want to do. I do think McD would love to have this fella on the team. So would I, if it doesn't mean you spent #28 to get him. Well, I think it would put the fan base over the edge. Except for you, you like that sort of thing.

Gunner's 2024 Mock Draft - FINAL v3.0 NOW LIVE (p.13)
Dr. Who replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
To be honest, the more I research, the more I think I would be willing to pay a fairly high price to move up and grab one of the top 3 if someone slips to 8 or 9.
