I don't really think he'd take a pay cut either way. New Regime almost always equals new QB, and he'd get paid whether he played for the Bills or he was cut. Might as well stand your ground and make the Bills make the decision on you. Either they keep you on there at that price, or they cut you and you get to play for that money somewhere else.

I don't think its automatic by any stretch, but I also don't think you put a rookie QB in that situation, and I don't think its a great situation for Fitzpatrick either.

No chance in hell Marrone replaces a guy he's sunk an entire offseason into with a guy he signed after training camp. I agree with you on TJax (I think we traded him way too early). I don't think VY was ready last year though. He spent a ton of time in Austin this offseason working out with Mack Brown and the Longhorns trainers to get ready for this year's NFL opportunity. He did a helluva lot of work and I think played a lot better this year because of it.

I don't think it's realistic to keep someone who is a leader on the team around when you bring in EJ. Having Fitz fight to be the leader on the team, and already being a leader with a lot of vets, isn't a good situation to put a rookie QB into when you're trying to establish him as the new face of the franchise. It'd be Flutie/Johnson all over again.
