1. so, badol, do you think it's a better idea to simply draft a left tackle in the second round with the hope of him becoming a solid starter by, say, week 6? if there is such a guy, i'd do it. donohoe, for all of his flaws, has been pretty solid at getting LT's. I'm admittedly a bigger jennings fan than most, but i think everyone has to admit he was a damn good pick for a late 3rd rounder. there's also john jackson, one of the better 6th round LT's of the past 15 years. he's one of the few guys who could shut bruce down.

The thing is, Jennings played RT for at least a full season.

I know that he is old, but did the titans decide to keep Hopkins? He was rumored to be a possible cap cut.

  2. you implied Travis is a piece of sh--

I am asserting that TH is a bad football player. As much as I have air hammered this claim, I make the case that you spent more time blasting Bledsoe.

So, how about we compare their won/loss records as Buffalo Bills starters? Next, let us take a peek at each of their career stats? Will Travis ever be in the top ten for total yards? No possible way. Agreed? Will he be in the NFL in 2 years? I doubt it big time. How about you?

Now, blast away at Drew, who is already gone. And dont let me stop you from extolling the virtues of Travis Henry, but get out of the way!

I would hate to see you knocked down from all the substantial trade offers that keep rolling in for his services.

  3. Limited bargaining rights? The only limit they have in terms of salary is to declare an impasse during every negotiation, go straight to BINDING ARBITRATION and win what they wanted anyway.

To say they have no rights is a F*^%ing joke. When was the last time they didn't get a raise, despite the economics of the agency they work for?

When was the last time they were forced to pay for their health coverage or even any significant portion?

When was the last time anything was taken awy for them for the betterment of the city, county, muni, region, whatever?

Never. But when they lose their jobs when it really hiots the fan, we're supposed to feel sorry for them after all the grabhandedness they have shown year in and year out.

Tough s&%* for them. Welcome to the real world.

I hate public unions in NY.

And I hate the Taylor Law too, which keeps them in power.

By the way. Any idea why many places our young people are moving too are doing much better? No unions, among other reasons. But no unions keep salaries under control (and not ripping the employees off either while not ripping off the taxpayers).

Example: We pay Buffalo and many area cops well into the 40s to start, and a GED is all that is required in most cases and no college degree, maybe some credits. Troopers start in the low 50s, same requirements.

Saw an ad in the Buffalo Snooze for cops near Richmond, Va. Around $30 to start, $32 with a bachelors. That's the way it should be. Not getting rich for driving around on your fat arse all day.

If you were more of a man, you would be able to even consider doing a job such as this.

Obviously, you are a squirrel of a man; a jealous squirrel to boot. Now, go run up a tree, you weak minded, weak in fact squirrel. Hurry up, a puppy is chasing you, you silly little twit! :P

  4. Des pops in every now and then. He's an honest and knowledgeable poster who has contributed much to the football wealth on this board. He also was the one who first brought to (my) (our) attention the exchange issues that made Dan Marino a running back killer, something old film always confirms. Not to mention that he was a betting man who kept his word; a true model for fans of other teams whose fine example of behavior in our forum is too often ignored by the trolls we've attracted in the past year.

Those were great days on TBD. Remember "Doc?" He correctly predicted that Donnally would flop at LG when the Dolphins signed him because he was a RG, and they put him on the left side.

The newcomers will never know how great the "old" TSW truly was. Dont get me wrong, I welcome them; but times have changed.

  5. Imo "Des" deserves a spot. Most of you probably dont remember him. He was/is a dolphin fan. He and AKC had brutal arguements but wound up having mutual respect as I recall. The guy (imo) truly knew football, and was as entertaining as hell.

Des was a major contributor to this great site. He made TBD a better place.

  6. And look how that worked out!?! Drew has done nothing but bash the Bills since leaving! His ego is so large, he drones on and on to anyone who will listen that is was everyone else's fault that he couldn't succeed here. ie: the coaches, the line and the receivers... blah, blah, blah! I'll admit that I felt bad for the guy when he was released but now I wish the man would have beaten up first, then sent tarred and feathered to Dallas! I hate Bledsoe, he SUCKS!!!

Interesting post. You should start a new thread!

  7. It's just time for Henry to move on.

    290597

Certainly, but if Badolbilz (and AKC), are correct, this would explain the delay wrt the Arizona trade.

A "below average LT with a chronic ankle injury" is not exactly what I wanted to hear.

  8. I like it!  The point that so many seem to miss is that Henry is a salary cap bargain and doesn't have the mileage on him that Edgerrin James has.  Was it Abraham Lincoln or Mike Mayock who said that James looked worn out in the AFC Championship game last year?

Yeah, so you might be able to get Shaun Alexander for a second round pick(doubt it), but then you have to come up with the $10M+ signing bonus.  That hurts.  Reuben Droughns is no more a stud RB than Olandis Gary was and William Green is just a name(and the only trash that Mike "the bone collector" Shanahan won't gather, a dud running back).

LJ Shelton is a below average LT with a chronic ankle injury.  Old Cardinals management signed Shelton to an extension, Dennis Green came in and was less impressed.  Henry for Shelton is not a fair trade, and it's not so much because of how good Travis is, but just how ordinary Shelton is.

People have said $3M in cap space is cheap for a LT, but that's IF you see Shelton as a long term solution, which I don't.  I do believe Shelton will get the door in Arizona, and contrary to that SI author I don't think his comments have hurt the Bills leverage in trade negotiations(because simple logic says Travis can't pass on a $1M+ payday).  The author is also full of it when he says Travis realizes McGahee is a "better fit" for the Bills.  Travis just realizes McGahee is the better player, period.

Ouch. Your analysis of Shelton was painful, but I thank you.

I could not for the life of me figure out why TD would wait this long to make the trade. Below average with a chronic ankle injury?! Yikes!!!!!

If you are correct, I am wondering if Teague is the plan at LT. Maybe this was the plan all along?

  9. When does Mike Williams start playing like a #4 overall draft pick? :P

    No mercy here......................sorry

    290461

Stand by. KTD will soon have excuses and explanations forthcoming.

Btw, chill out OK? He ONLY counts for 9.17 million dollars of cap room on the team we love. What is that, 11% of the total salary cap for a fat RT? No big deal, right KTD.

I guess I should say that I am sorry for not being sympathetic enough to his needs, nor those of Travis.
