  1. Edwards was horrible last year. In most of his games he didn't even throw one TD and the team scored very few TDs with him in there. Granted, it's tough to be worse than Fairchild, but when he got here everyone had the same hopes that they have for Schonert, and honestly, I don't see too much of a difference in the credentials or prior experience of either. You may "think that Schouman will open a lot of eyes," but the fact is that he didn't last year, so you're thinking that is hardly concrete promise. As to Hardy, what speed? He's not known as a speed player. In fact it's the opposite. He's known as a slow receiver that's big and can catch OTM in traffic and has good hands although the reports out OTAs were that he was dropping a lot of passes. The knock on him is that he won't be able to separate from DBs in the NFL, is not a great route runner, won't be a threat in the deep game, and despite his size isn't very physical.
  2. Very true. But all of this discussion then more or less tells us that Hardy had better work out and be a monster, because nothing else seems to have changed much; same OL, same QB, same RB (or worse if Lynch is in trouble), same TEs for the most part, same FB. I just don't see a rookie receiver making that kind of difference to lift this offense much more than maybe a few spots in the rankings offensively. And even if he does, how much will it impact our scoring? I mean we made fewer trips to the red zone than 30 other teams.
  3. You think it will be enough to propel us to playoff caliber?
  4. OK, say that's true. Then why were we tied for last in passing TDs? Granted, we had a rookie QB, but if it was an "above average" pass blocking unit, then why couldn't we put up more than 1 pass TD/game? Why couldn't Edwards, and why did he not put up a single passing TD at all in 6 of 9 starts? Why were we 30th in passing yards ahead of only the Raiders and Niners?
  5. OK, I'll bite. Then why all the hope for the offense this year? It's the same exact thing as what you just said.
  6. You just cited more than most teams in this league have. So how come with all of that, we were still DFL in just about everything relevant offensively? I mean how many teams have three OL-men as good as you say, a RB as good as Lynch, and a WR like Evans? Not too many from what I can see, especially w/ teams that scored more offensive points than we did.
  7. OK, let me see if I got this right. You're using the Miami Dolphins, the team that came closer to posting a 0-16 record than any other team ever, as the basis for why our having put up only 20 offensive TDs wasn't really that bad? Have I got that right? Even so, playing by your rules, we scored a touchdown every 46 plays on average. So let's assume that we had another 70 plays and scored another 2 TDs, that would have been 22, still four short of Miami and still ahead of only the Jets with the number of plays accounted for in that figure. And we finished the game "down" in 9 of 16. As to the sacks thing, the entire offense, admitted by the team, was built around 3 and 5 step drops so as to limit sacks. That's the big difference in the sack tally.
  8. What happened? Everyone was applauding the move to hire Fairchild just over two seasons ago now. Jauron's still there. So what's your prediction for the health and productivity of our offense this season?
  9. You tell us: Bills had 34 red zone possessions, 2nd to last ahead of only the Niners who had 29. (By the way, that's about 2/game) We ran the fewest plays of any team in the league and were ranked 3rd from last ahead of only the Chiefs and Niners in offensive yards.
  10. Miami's offense scored 6 more offensive TDs than we did last season. You don't think that they might have a better OL? What other reasons are there that they would score 30% more TDs than we did?
  11. OK then, the $10,000 question; With a line ranked 21st and unchanged from last season, with an emerging QB that everyone rants about, with "Beastmode", why did our offense score fewer TDs than any other team in the league last season?
  12. It would be worse if the Buffalo was taking one.
  13. You could say the same thing about our "new" uniforms.
  14. OK, so Peters is the best, Dockery's great, Walker's excellent, and Fowler and Butler are decent. Trent exhibited tremendous poise last season. Lynch was a beast! So then why couldn't we move the ball better than 30 or so other teams last year? Anyone
  15. Hey, as long as Bills football endures, who cares what the athletes do. Winning is all that matters. In fact, I say let's just make laws immunizing athletes, entertainers, and politicians from all laws.
  16. Steve Johnson may end up being much bigger than Hardy.
  17. Every pick "could" do something. Haven't we been saying this every year after the draft prior to talking about how the drafts from two or more years earlier sucked. Most of the players picked did something right in college and better have at least two minutes of video that someone could point to to show how good they are. No doubt we could also find several minutes of video embarrassing them too, but that's not how the media game is played is it.
  18. Why don't you start posting the vast litany of successes that the Bills have had under Majeski and Modrak instead. It would be much shorter, easier, and would save quite a bit of time.
  19. Did he ever have "a time?"
  20. OK, you're wrong. How many wins last year were won "super easily?" We barely squeaked by some of the league's worst teams on multiple occasions. Assumptions that we beat 10 or 11 teams all comparable or perhaps slightly worse, with some slightly better, is a poor assumption. Sorry, it just is. We start off 0-2 because games against NE are unwinnable even if Brady doesn't suit up. Seattle, Jacksonville, and San Diego are simply much better teams than we are and for every one of them that we beat on the merits of fortune, we will likely drop one to another team not so good in the same vein. Cleveland is even a better team that we are if their offense plays like they did last year. The Rams on the road, will we have answers for their offense if it picks up again? There's some talent there that we haven't proven we can stop. Ditto for the Cards. If we lose to Seattle and Jacksonville, and then presumably to San Diego, unless we win the other three games to start the season, we will have to win just about all of our back 8 games after the two NE games just to make the playoffs. We also don't know how many of those crappy teams will be much improved this year either. We certainly haven't made greater strides towards improvement than most of them, including both the Jets and Miami who we took four games from last season. If we don't sweep them again entirely, then I doubt that we will even post a winning season much less make the playoffs. Optimism is good, but it needs to be tempered with a dose of reality.
  21. Yeah right, you know that the excuses are going to be flying all over if not.
  22. How many different ways would you like that assessed and answered. And if we get rid of Losman where is it headed?
  23. Because the left guard position is generally less difficult than the right guard position, I have been consistently perplexed the last couple of seasons by the amount of money teams are investing in the position. Steve Hutchinson, Kris Dielman, Eric Steinbach, Derrick Dockery and Faneca lead the parade of left guards that have received contracts in excess of $40 million. ... There is a reason why most of the interior guys getting paid the big money are left guards and not right guards and the sooner teams can figure it out, the sooner they can begin to allocate more of their money to a position that creates a greater value proposition.
  24. Put yourself in his shoes. If you were a top WR, or at least could be one, would you want to sign away your best years to play in Buffalo under the current circumstances? If you answer yes then you're a liar.
