Convince me that the 2020 Pats are good...
BuffaloRebound replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This was a good year to land a QB in free agency, yet Belichik is rolling the dice with Stidham and Hoyer. Either he’s tanking or he has more confidence in his QB’s than Dalton, Winston, Newton, etc. He won 11 games with Matt Cassell and rolled the dice on Brady when he was an unknown afterthought. Maybe they’ll stink but Belichik has more than earned the benefit of the doubt. It’s not laziness to think they could win division. -

Because other than Brady, they’ve constantly churned the roster and still always win. Brady wasn’t good last year. If Stidham doesn’t turn the ball over, he won’t be much worse than Brady and even has a chance to be an upgrade if he surprises people. They are cheating a-holes, but are still a championship organization. -
Examining Brandon Beane’s comp pick hack
BuffaloRebound replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Comp picks just seem like they’ve out-lived their purpose. It’s the same well run organizations that always get them. You’re making the rich richer. They clearly don’t need them. And when you give out 10 third rounders like this year, not only do the rich get richer, but it dilutes the talent for the other teams. If the league is gonna keep comp picks, then put quotas on no more than 2 or 3 in the 3rd round or make the 4th round the highest comp pick. -
Couldn’t agree more. Ten 3rd round comp picks this year was ridiculous. That’s 10 extra players gone before the start of the 4th round. Most drafts really start to thin out after the first 100 picks. Not only does it help the same teams every year who don’t need the help, it really hurts the teams at the top of the 4th round. Comp picks have definitely out-lived whatever it’s original intent was.

Tyler Bass, kicker, might be Bills' best pick
BuffaloRebound replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s tough drafting a kicker. No matter how good they were in college, it seems like they have to fail or get cut multiple times before they gain the required mental toughness to kick in the NFL. -

Wouldn’t surprise me if Moss gets more carries than Singletary. I think Singletary is better in the change of pace role. -
The Best Play of Every Bills 2020 Draft Pick
BuffaloRebound replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cool video but not including Hodgins one handed TD behind his body against Stanford takes something away from it. That was the best catch I’ve seen NFL or college in awhile. #1 play at end of this clip -
He has potential to be really good. Naturally big, powerful and athletic dude. Comes down to how good he wants to be. That’s why his combine performance probably dropped him so much. It’s not the numbers themselves but rather whether it reveals how hard he wants to work to be great. Hopefully he’s a guy that just wasn’t into the underwear Olympics and will use his drop in the draft as motivation.

Rd 5, Pick 167: QB Jake Fromm, Georgia
BuffaloRebound replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watched his game against Auburn. He’s clearly played in a ton of big games and has handled himself well, but I’m not sure I ever saw him actually step into a pass. He throws off his back foot but doesn’t have a big arm. The pedigree, intangibles, and importance of the position he plays make it worth a 5th rounder, but he’s gotta change his footwork to make it in the NFL. -
Beane post-draft conference calls/interviews
BuffaloRebound replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yep. Don’t know anything about him, but Chicago was picking 4 picks before us, didn’t have a 6th round pick, and Hudson went the pick before. -

2020 NFL Draft Rounds 4-7 discussion

Did I read it right that Minnesota has 13 picks today? I guess they’ll be testing the negative value of oil theory. If I’m an agent, I’m telling Minnesota not to draft my client, -
Interesting he was willing to trade up for Moss. Going up 7 picks from 89 would’ve most likely cost our 5th rounder. If Beane was willing to part with a 5th, we could see a move to the top of the 4th with our 5th rounder.

I don’t see a RB moving the needle for this offense unless he’s also a big threat in the passing game. You gotta throw the ball and score points to win championships. Diggs was an excellent get, but him alone isn’t taking our passing game to the championship level. Our defense is close to championship level. Singletary plus a vet upgrade over Gore and Josh’s ability to use his legs is adequate in the running game. If there isn’t a Kittle or Kelce in this draft at TE, get me a big dynamic WR like Pittman or Claypool.
