  1. This is awesome. 🤣
  2. Joe Biden partners with white supremacists, paws women, carelessly and recklessly handles and discloses classified documents for decades, lies about his background, regularly vacations with billionaires and powerful people he claims avoid their fair share for decades, and is shaking apart mentally over a several year period…JP Vance venmo. Go figs.
  3. No, I feel sorry for you for asking this question. You’ve obviously misplaced your nuts.
  4. In fairness he acknowledged that Biden is unfit, and I only have so much bandwidth to absorb “Trump is the only one” when looking at the history of politicians in the country. I just assumed it was all that. I’m probably wrong, but whatevs.
  5. Eh, once you’re reliable and beyond reproach, every now and again a legacy gets through that causes you heartburn. It’s been reported that Max’s father, Darius “Das” Boot was a long time associate editor and keeper of the faith at WaPo. Kent Dorfman (Farber College, Class of ‘66) and his escapades with Delta House comes to mind. Not every sibling or child is going to walk the straight and narrow, and some might cause some embarrassment to the institution. We seek to understand, then forgive, —that’s what we do as Americans/Americans married to Korean spies.
  6. We were discussing people unfit for the presidency, not fiscal policy. Clinton has a history of sexual predation, a number of women who have accused him of sexual assault, and a settlement with a woman who accused him of sexual assault. Add to that his penchant for perjury… The dem narrative was that Bush/Cheney et al fabricated the intelligence to drive the nation to war. For all that Trump has been accused of, it’s always fascinated me that in the world of politics, people will support their side through all sorts of ugliness and misrepresentation—that W was nefariously responsible for the death/injury of roughly a million people—but simply move on after the election. If he fabricated, he should be in jail. If he didn’t, the narrative is yet another example of politicians tearing our world apart. Neither would be fit for public service imo. Pure speculation, but let’s not whistle past the Obama admin unmasking/surveilling the opposition and using all the resources available to tilt the scales to Clinton. Nixon would be jealous at the assets the Obama admin had at his disposal. Clinton has whined, complained, and spread election misinformation for years. Beyond that, the electoral college is how an election is decided. This was not new, novel or debatable. Suggesting it was somehow unfair or unreasonable is absurd, or that her failure to prevail should have been decided by a glorified vote for prom queen. She also partnered with a foreign national hostile to our election process and spread misinformation, and participated in the ongoing dem narrative that Trump was an illegitimate president because of Russia. She is neither honorable nor particularly unusual in the world of politics. As for apples and hand grenades, it simply seems to me that you’re comfortable with election interference and politicians dividing the country with lies/manipulation in certain cases, not so much in others. I would prefer neither scenario occurred, but was completely unsurprised that the dem strategy worked well and the Trump strategy followed. It was inevitable that the loser of 2020 would pursue the illegitimate/stolen claim. Poppycock. After 3 years of unfettered, deep pocketed and no holds barred investigation, bupkis. As AG Barr stated quite succinctly, what happened to Trump should never have happened, and should never happen to any president in the future. It will be interesting to see, should Trump prevail, if similar investigations follow. I would hope not, but it seems the public appetite for such spectacles is quite vigorous.
  7. Thanks for weighing in. You’re not alone, and the best a Trump supporter can hope for is less independents like you, more tired of the Biden presidency. That’s always the battle, I suppose. You’ve been clear on Trump—are there any other presidents/vp or candidates you felt were unfit for office? Bill Clinton and settlements for sexual assaults, the sexual dynamic/subjugation of Monica Lewinsky, and of course his perjury? W Bush and fabricated evidence leading to the war in Iraq, and the horrors of dead American soldiers and Iraqis as well? Nixon and Watergate? Kennedy, ties to organized crime and his abhorrent treatment of MM, and LBJ and Vietnam? Also, with respect to the 2016 election and claims that Trump was illegitimate as a president, elected in a coup, false claims of conspiracy with Russia—any issue with the Dems spreading misinformation for 4 years on that? Any issues at all with Mueller inv and outcome, or regular impeachments? Yikes. Hope that went ok. I developed a bit of dental anxiety the last few years, and prefer to take the edge off in scenarios like those.
  8. I have this conversation with liberal friends from time to time. I can understand not liking him, not voting for him, wishing he would go away, but the guy’s capacity for dealing with *&$* and moving forward is unbelievable. He’s incredibly tough and seems to power through anything in his way. He’s had the weight of the US government bearing down on him for nearly 10 straight years and simply says “Ah, f it.”. His response to being shot was amazing. By comparison, it’s suggested the Biden is too old and feeble to run, he turns the lights out at 8, stammers and stumbles through a debate and after a couple weeks of unfavorable press sounds an awful lot like he’s tapping out.
  9. I wouldn’t do it, and of course you wouldn’t have an issue if it involved people you liked. On the other hand, lots of people like lots of things I don’t like and I don’t see them as being in a cult.
  10. Yes. Shhhh, of course I’m right. I have exactly the same number of attempts on my life as Jill Biden, I think. Stink is cool, we’ve addressed that.
  11. "Those people" literally "...go around..." and "...seek protections for themselves from guns". Armed guards. Armed Secret Service. Armed body guards. I don't even blame them for their hypocrisy, they're high profile individuals who have the means to protection that average guys like you, me and @stinky finger do not. Why get upset about it?
  12. Um, ok. I pressed the "quote" button and directed a message to @Roundybout. I received a note, with the message I sent to Roundy, from @4th&long. Maybe he copied and pasted. Maybe he has two screen names and got confused. I think he just did what I did, which is pressed the "quote" button and directed a message to me. Whatever the reason, I replied to 4th because that's what I do, generally.
  13. No, I'm suggesting that the events preceeding, during, and post rally are much more likely to spur the purchase/ownership of personal firearms by people from all groups (liberals, conservatives, gun nuts, the gun hesitant) than not. I agree the elites get protection. Look at gun-hating celebrities and politician and see the armed guards at their sides. I won't bother linking, but Dr. Jill Biden had secret service protection at her engagement the same day Trump was shot, and she's all about gun control and removing certain firearms from law-abiding/tax paying citizens. Yet, she availed herself of the protection she would deny to you or I. Hypocrisy is not something new here, Tibsy. @stinky finger you're very astute!
  14. Well, this wasn't directed at you Scooby Doo. I directed it to Roundy based on a prior conversation regarding urban development, younger folks moving past vehicle ownership and living in 15 minute walkable environs. If I were to direct a question to you, I'd have run with a question about initially wondering aloud if the assassination attempt was staged before relenting later on when you found out there was a fatality. Is it possible there might be some Venn Diagram overlap between the Roundy/4th groups, sure. That wasn't my question, but thank you for your interest. What the heck? Football fans wear jerseys, fly flags, paint their face, dive through tables, get hammered and cry over wins, get hammered and cry over losses, and debate the choice between two guys named Josh like they have any idea. You would never catch me at a political rally, but the feeling I always get with Trump is football-esque tailgating.
  15. I thought your side didn’t have vehicles? Relic of the past, etc etc.
  16. You said “can’t having them get hurt”. A guy was murdered, the presumptive nominee narrowly escaped death. The events of the last few days, coupled with Democrats commentary thereafter is a walking, talking advertisement for 2A support.
  17. You must have been in a really deep slumber the last few days. I will now call you Tibs Van Winkle.
  18. This is one of the most ominous statements I have ever seen, and Maddow's failure to follow up and press him is very telling indeed.
  19. This post is a classic example of throwing punches in the air. Dramatic, yes. Eye-catching, sure. Ultimately though, it's just jibber jabber and fluff. They do not allow guns in the RNC because they do not want guns in the RNC. There are likely a dozen reasons why, some obvious, some nuanced. I don't worry why "they" don't allow guns on planes, but I'm not advocating for citizens to carry guns on planes. A 20 year old yahoo slithered past a dozen or more highly trained law enforcement agents, highly motivated to protect an individual, all heavily armed, avoided highly trained snipers and got off 8 or 9 shots literally just above the heads of said officers there for one purpose only. This scenario points to why 2A proponents want the ability to peacefully carry arms without government overreach. Once the guy shot Trump, and assuming he got off the roof top, the only thing likely to be in between he and innocent rally attendees would have been their own personal firearm had they been carrying. Again, I'm not even advocating for that, I'm just wondering how you can add 2+2 and get 8675309.
  20. What on earth is this blather? There is no talking point that assumes everyone is armed, many people believe in the 2A and don't own firearms. Trump was indeed surrounded by scores of armed people, most of who(m) lacked the ability to see/hear/or confront the guy a couple hundred yards away, perched on a roof 12+ feet off the ground. Trump is a victim of incompetence on a massive scale, and his shooting actually points to the problem most adherents to the 2A bring up virtually every time. We have rules, guidelines, and laws supposedly designed to protect us. Unfortunately, the rules, laws and guidelines do precious little to actually protect us if not properly considered, implemented and adjusted as need be--so it's on the individual to protect himself. I'm not a gun owner, have no desire to own a firearm, but there could have been 25 agents in that building with all sorts of firepower and technology to bring this guy down, none of it mattered because the guy defeated the process.
  21. Agreed. I'm all for waiting for all the details to be revealed, but it's very hard to wrap one's head around the notion that those protecting were in a building the shooter climbed on for the shot. "Hey Smitty, did you hear that? Sounds like someone crawling up on the roof." "That's crazy talk! Probably just really big squirrels."
  22. Mrs. Robinson too. She was home schoolin' before home schoolin' was cool.
