  1. Hmm, good question. I think that would fall under standard operating procedure for government entities regardless of political affiliation more than corruption....though money steered to political allies and cronies with the knowledge that infrastructure is non-existent certainly falls into that category.
  2. Well look at this. @Doc out there saving the planet in his Tesla, 4th polluting at a rapid rate in his carbon dragon F150. Oh, the places you go and things you’ll see on PPP!
  3. I was thinking of the movie National Lampoon’s Vacation, when the Griswold family sets off on an epic journey to visit an amusement park on the other side of the country. Of course, hilarity ensues when poor decisions are made or plans go awry en route, and when they arrive it turns out the park is closed. The only question I can see that needs to be answered is whether or not the end result was due to incompetence or corruption. As is well documented, there is an awful lot of money and power in anything that involves stopping the end of the world.
  4. It sounds precisely as if it’s Biden’s (or more accurately, the Biden Administration) fault. It’s also a prime example as to why reasonable people who don’t want to see their children/grandchildren/great grandchildren to live in a barren, post-apocalyptic world might think “Gee, that’s strange. $7.5 billion of taxpayer money went somewhere, paid for something, and they had no idea the infrastructure was non-existent? Interesting—what’s the standard? We seem to have a multitude of options for vibrant/walkable cities with public transport that seem incapable of maintaining infrastructure despite enormous resources devoted to the problem. Then, too, there is this trend: https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2018/05/22/demographic-and-economic-trends-in-urban-suburban-and-rural-communities/ When you speak about removing car dependency, how do you foresee motivating suburban/rural citizens to abandon their vehicle(s) and move to the city?
  5. On the bright side, I think WaPo is on the trusted reading list now. They were on it, of course, but retrospectively would be removed for not reporting originally, then proactively re-placed for having the courage to remember why they didn’t run it when they were. What a ride!
  6. Leaks, staged photos, misstatements to the court, a senator/vp/president stashing classified documents pilfered documents over decades wherever the box falls….fine. Complaining about the process involving deadly force…a threat to national security and all that is good and holy.
  7. I’d be willing to bet your mother would reject the notion she was a victim in any way shape form. I also recognize how fortunate we were. I never made the point with @daz28, but were my father here today, he would tell you my homemaker mother was the backbone of our family, and that had little to do with what her occupation. Great to hear on you and your wife—also likely a very strong person to chart that path.
  8. There was a time these words were interchangeable with liberal policies. Now…not so much.
  9. It’s interesting, I was at a bank drive through listening to him and eviscerate is a good word to use. I thought “Holy ****” they’re going to charge her!”. For what it’s worth, I believe certain people are above the law, and nothing was going to come from it. After the fact, the point DB makes about Comey’s unilateral decision and statement was brought up, and made sense. Still, people above the law etc etc. This just reinforces the notion of a two tiered system, with people placing their thumb on the scale, and why questions persist about the raid at Trump’s residence.
  10. The fight for equality and happiness in a traditional marriage were not mutually exclusive. Too, let’s not forget that there were other battles for equality ongoing as women struggled for their rights. Wage, working conditions, poverty etc. I didn’t watch “Alice”, never really cared for “All in the Family”. I did watch “Welcome Back Kotter” but tried to remember the Sweathogs weren’t actually sweathogs. It sounds like your experience was different than mine. My mother is college educated, stay at home but worked part time as her family grew. My Dad was a WW2 vet at 17, came home and went to work. Money was not abundant, love was. We were not alone in that regard, my eyes were open the whole time, though through experience I realized that was not the way fir everyone. I understand that every scenario must be judged by the experiences of the family. Yes, many women were stuck in very difficult, untenable and tragic situations. We agree on that. I have never considered abuse/subjugation a traditional value, but let’s not pretend that sort of thing does not occur in whatever version of family we look at today. Likewise, there are stories of love, happiness and success in whatever version of family we see today that do follow traditional values. We’ve made great progress, there’s so much more to do, but there is a place in it for people who desire a traditional relationship.
  11. Biden makes things up more than he lies, I’m told.
  12. No, they’ll continue to attack the basis for the armed raid, problems with the investigation, leaks/staged photo shoots, the SC’s untruthful testimony before the court, the egregious mishandling of classified documents in their possession, the new question of documents apparently sent to Trump, and the relative hypocrisy on the handling of classified documents by all other players. As additional documents are unsealed, more will come to light that can be attacked procedurally or in the court of public opinion. I understand hatred of Trump. I never understand people like you running around screaming someone else is in a cult while you dismiss issues with the SC. The SC office controlled everything. There are no fears of running out of money, no limitations on experts, personnel to process data, the ability to manage leaks, photo shoots etc…yet here we are. The best outcome would be to end this debacle, acknowledge the government has played extremely fast and loose with classified documents in control of powerful people, and that for too long they all were above the law. That predated Dopey Joe, Crooked Hillary, Evangelical Mike and Cheeto Dust Don.
  13. I can understand some of the crowd and their comments on Trump testifying at his trial, but I’d expect a more balanced reply from you. I would think most people who feel victimized by overzealous, well-intended but erroneous, corrupt or novel theory prosecution would love the opportunity to tell their story to a jury. The notion of clearing one’s name, sharing their story, getting things off their chest is perfectly normal. It’s also quite perilous. Is that the recommended course of action for most defendants, Frank? To testify? Is the system really designed for heartfelt conversations where everyone shares their feelings in a tree of trust, perspectives shared and debated with Lady Justice peaking under that blindfold to make sure everyone respects decorum? After reviewing some of the write ups on witnesses, is it possible perspective changed? Plus, people talk too much, and LEO/prosecution knows this. Many years ago a friend in law enforcement told me the best course of action is know your rights, seek and listen to counsel and keep your mouth shut when speaking with the police. I would think Trump is a nightmare on the “listen to counsel” leg of the journey, but maybe he listens once in while.
  14. The language is offensive, and the likelihood is that in a 4 year window, deportation on that scale is virtually impossible to imagine. In addition, Americans of all political persuasion are generally decent people and support sensible immigration policy. What we have now is a clusterf*ck of unimaginable proportions. Biden is the guy in charge, and he's been a fixture for 50 years. The idea to hit him hard on immigration is the correct course of action. I echo your concern about the language used, and there is a fine line to walk there. However, we've seen an awful lot of reporting about democrats, especially in our cities, losing patience with the process as money is gobbled up by the machine to address the crisis. I think it's reasonable and appropriate to tie crime in all its forms to Biden and Co. Talk about assaults, robberies, sexual assaults, murder on both sides of the border, the involvement of some of the most dangerous criminal organizations on the planet. Ditto with infectious diseases. Follow the law as you have suggested, and improve it where necessary.
  15. Perhaps, in addition to the complaint, a strongly worded letter to leadership is in order.
  16. Daz is engaged and full of vim and vigor. I respect that on some level, but his takes often reflect the closed mindset of a pre-suffrage man about town. It’s just a different type of closed/mindedness.
  17. I don’t know if the rules were followed. You don’t know if the rules were followed. What I do know is that you’ve had multiple opportunities to declare the Dems are above reproach. You’ve offered you don’t trust them. We’re in the same boat, really. Now….. If there was a procedure violated, a complaint rendered and then the complaint was ignored, a second complaint should be lodged post haste. We have to have procedures else we have anarchy. Bold claims are just that, bold. It is likely the millionth time a bold claim was made in the halls of power. I don’t care.
  18. It’s not an official brigade, just an fyi. More a group of like minded citizens that meet for coffee and dollar menu breakfast every month at the local McDs. One guy suggested the name Streamer Posse but we felt there was considerable likelihood of misunderstanding. No one needs that. I’d offer that for many supporters of the conservative wing of the court, the flag convo is fine, but given all that has gone before, and all that is yet to come…from nominees unable to define terms, manufactured stories of high school rape trains and high tech lynchings..calls for recusal are silly.
  19. I would give you the ok sign, or thumbs up-but better just to stare straight ahead and blink 3x, but not 4 as that’s been co-opted too, I’m sure.
  20. Censorship? The house and senate hearings/committees are a conglomerate of silliness, pettiness, shutdowns, putdowns, grandstanding, implications, posturing and theater. They live and operate in a world the rest of us do not. Or, as you indicated yesterday—-politicians honest lolol. If the rules were followed, they were followed. If they were not, procedural complaints will surely follow. Stand by though, I may be enraged by something similar happening in the senate in a half hour or so.
  21. Living a quality life, living traditional values, raising children and shaping the world “kept women down”? That’s complete bulls#it. It is not the only way, and not everyone chose that path, but your premise is wrong. Education is important, of course, but a strong argument is made these days that our system is flawed, extraordinarily expensive, and saddles people (women included) with unreasonable debt that crushes them. There are alternatives to a traditional education, and college is not for everyone. Not every person wants a family. Open your mind for goodness sake.
  22. I’ve explained the SC issue a couple times now, and understand that you’re lathered up about the SC justices, or their spouses, or both, or neither. As for HB, yes. Let’s see it through one way or another. Well, I think you’ve created a false narrative here, and created a false dichotomy to position yourself as a combatant in an imaginary battle. In reality, you’re only battling an overactive imagination. You don’t believe him. I understand.
  23. There are other things that bother me more than this lady’s pandering, too. But I replied to a video clip of this lady pandering.
  24. If i have to tell you the major impact of the Russians in the Weeds on the Trump administration (and of the impact it had on our country), I am wasting your time and mine. I’ll give you a hint, it rhymes with Shnuller. I’m telling you only the truth, Daz. 2020 happens because 2016 worked so well. Yes, I was told I should be outraged. I’m not. I can tell you many other things that bother me more, but why bother? This might the type of thing that bothers me more. 🤫
  25. Look, there’s indeed too much hubbub about this, but people are saying he didn’t say “keep women in the kitchen, doing laundry, cleaning house” because he did not say those things. He obviously could have, but he clearly didn’t. As for progress made since the 1950s, we’ll, I think you’re being disrespectful to those families who follow a more traditional model, but we can def agree their has been tremendous progress made on equality since the 1950s.
