  1. This was not his finest hour. Or, maybe it was because he was waiting and finally got to bust out the 40s gangster lingo. I felt I was watching S3 doing Cagney at the Improv. “Ya gotta nip it in the bud, see?” ”The kids clammin’ up see, setting off alarm bells”,
  2. I know. You sell gold, man. -or you’re a prospector.
  3. Ok one more thing, and remember I categorized the behavior of both men as “dopey”. Why on earth would one of the most high profile personalities in the arena not have the special armband distributed by the NBA that signifies you have access to the floor? So, he approaches the checkpoint with neither of the easily identifiable visuals that are apparently required to access the floor, hits the checkpoint where the guy charged with security has been told “No armband, no lanyard, no entry”, is rummaging in his pocket to get one of the two pieces of ID and he has no accountability here? None? It’s just a rogue security guard targeting a well-dressed exec to bust his balls? Generally speaking, “dopey” behavior is unprofessional so no argument from me. At the same time, unprofessionalism on the other side contributed to the problem. Whether he wasn’t issued the required armband, stuck it in his pocket with the ID or left it at the table, he showed up at a chaotic time with none of the required ID and attempted to access the court. How hard was it to follow the two part protocol?
  4. Okey doke. In spite of the details outlined in this compelling case study, I reject both the premise and assertions you have made here. I feel like I am dumber for having engaged.
  5. What's best is to exercise your rights as an American citizen in a manner that best protects you as an American citizen. If a person did nothing wrong, there is no reason to do anything other than that. You're no more or less innocent one way or the other, and if you feel that you're the victim of political persecution, you lock it down. As for your characterization that he's clamming up, sure, maybe the G-men are putting the cuff on him before he scrams, but absent that, the wisest course of action is always---always, 100% of the time---to seek counsel and follow the directive. You know it. I know it. You know I know it. I know you know I know it. Stop this silliness.
  6. It’s sad to see you slide down this path. Maybe not sad for anyone else you interact with, but sad for me. I’m running out of lefty’s to try and gather feedback from. I acknowledge hating the abject silliness of ‘nothing to hide means no reason to hide”.
  7. What’s the bad look when one exercises his/her rights? Would you advocate all defendants in civil or criminal matters waive their right to counsel? Comply with all requests for unfettered access by law enforcement/AG? Spoiler alert: I don’t think you think any of that.
  8. This letter has decidedly bullying tone to it. As for the poll question, what a deceitful and manipulative way to inquire.
  9. Attempted murder has been a theme for weeks now. Fireworks shot at police officers are meant to maim and kill. They have been launching bricks and other objects the entire time., alps meant to maim and kill.
  10. Well certainly you’re 100% capable of using your superior firepower to victimize some locals and grab their Hot Pockets. It’s hate week after all. We all need to dig a bit deeper.
  11. This is why I like this board. Your experience offers me something to consider beyond the scope of my own. That said— your original post correctly suggested there was no need to over-analyze, and the reference to lanyard management was only in response to that comment. I truly understand why he would prefer it be stuck away —on the other hand maybe things play out differently if it wasn’t. My 60 second read of a 120 second interaction remains the same as it did at first, but I appreciate the dialogue.
  12. I agree, hyperanalysis makes little sense here. If I was hyperanalyzing I would wonder why they had security in the first place, what instructions were given to the security guards(s) at their stations, what instructions were given to participants in the program, why they issued name badges, whether or not the badges were supposed to be worn at all times and displayed for the safety of all participants, whether or not keeping the badge in your suit coat pocket was part of the standard operating procedure and whether or not security guards were advised to accept a participant simply stating ‘it’s in my pocket” as a password to let someone pass, and including post-incident declass as it relates to the incident at hand and civil litigation that follows, nor analysis about one of the participants involved in insurance fraud in 1994. I would also think security was very important at this event, something taken seriously. Finally, in the chaos and hubbub of a world championship, I would think it could be a confusing place to be. That’s why I looked at this simply. Had the security guard simply asked who the other guy was, and/or had the president had his badge on, or stopped and said ‘I’m Masai Ujiri and I’m the President of the club!” or God forbid the NBA had people in place to escort him to center court, none of this would have happened. Hence “dopey”. The security guard could be a total weasel, and Ujiri a type A get the &)&& out of my way guy, I have no idea (though I agree the lawsuit is likely bs). I certainly can understand Ujiri being thrilled and excited and wanting to get to the place he earned the right to be, but it seems to me a series of unfortunate events. It’s a shame that was tarnished in this way.
  13. @B-Man has some of these posters hopping mad. Not sure what has ‘em all riled up of late, but it’s quite noticeable. I’m certain however that B will consider their feelings before posting material he feels relevant moving forward. @Hedge back yet?
  14. I think the best course of action is usually to pop it like it’s hot. You should at least consider it as an option.
  15. If the security guy knew the other guy was “the President of the Toronto Raptors, whose team had just won the NBA Championship, who was trying to take his rightful place to celebrate with his players on the court“ and just wanted to mess with him, we agree. If he didn’t, it seems to me he was security doing security $&@$, though in a pretty dopey way. Being a “well dressed black man” really has nothing to do with it if he had no idea who the guy was. It appeared to me they were both shoving each other for a bit, which is the dopey part imo. It appeared to be a series of unfortunate events...poor planning by NBA (all the key players should be identified and a process to get them on the court established in advance), the prez with his badge in his pocket where no one could see it, then understandably trying to rush through security, and the security guard blocking the wrong guy at the wrong time.
  16. I worked “security” (you gotta see me, it’s pretty funny) at a wrestling tournament a few years ago. Higher end tourney, lots of teams, a mix of organized chaos, youthful exuberance and pretty intense coaches and parents. My job per the organizer was to lock down the door, nobody in/out my station, which was the closest door on the hockey rink/field house to food stations and bathroom. Anyway, it amazed me how many guys tried to beat the system. They would run late for a match and test security! They would not want to go all the way around and test security! Everyone had an excuse, everyone a story, and more then once I had to flex the pipe cleaners to shut it down. I understanding the kids trying it, and I’m a sucker for kids so more than a few breached security to get to the bathroom. At one point the organizer came over and gave me the business for letting the kids out, I just told him next time to put me on registration or tossing bags of Fritos. I can’t imagine wtf it would be like in a situation like this. Seems the league didn’t have a very organized system for getting people where they needed to be. To me it looks like a couple dopey guys butting heads, and the obligatory and perhaps pathetic lawsuit to follow. Big picture, it’s a shame that Ujiri had this awesome moment at least partially derailed by something so easy to avoid.
  17. Plus I’m delightful. Let’s not forget that. I forgive him.
  18. My friend, I have been blessed beyond all reasonable expectation. I have people in my life that care about me, I care about them and along the way I picked up some stuff. None of that precludes me from pointing out what is painfully obvious to most: the argument that your guy is slightly less sucky than the other guy is pretty pathetic, and it’s not a great argument that your guy is slightly less evil than the other. I expect that when people vote for Joe Biden, they vote with their heart. No need to pretend it’s anything more than that. I’m not sure about Alabama, it’s pretty hot in the summer. I would probably go to one if the M states. Missouri. Maine. Mew Hampshire. Michigan maybe. But def not Minnesota.
  19. Unreal. The whole thing is disgusting. Honestly, the lady filming the thing should have shut it all down and let these gangster wannabe losers be on their way. That little boy crying and worrying about his mother was horrific. That said, when that pos who didn't read that directions on the mask box came back at the end, I sincerely hope she ended up on the ground, hopefully with some sense knocked into her.
  20. This isn't about Trump. You indicated that the people voting for BiHar weren't really casting a vote for the soft segregation of Biden 1975-2008, or his numerous racially insensitive comments or his groping/grabbing/assaulting women. It's as if you believe your liberal neighbors to the south were making the very difficult decision to cast a noble vote for a 5 decade politician. I simply pointed out that the narrative is bullsh6t. Now, if you want to show me the liberal voters out loud/proud and strong fighting against Biden, seeking his removal from the ticket for his recent condescending remarks aimed at black voters, heck, I would have a tremendous amount of respect for that thought process. What we typically find, however, is weekend warrior progressives who live in a bubble, have no desire for real change if the change happens in their neighborhood, and support the soft segregationist mentality that Biden typifies. The addition of the hangin' judge, old KH herself, only reinforces what those voters really want in a candidate. As for the shi* stacking, that's a foolish game and even with the exchange rate, it's silly to play. Joe Biden has lied, plagarized and enriched himself for 5 decades and drank deeply from the public trough. His first major demonstrable lie came a full 40 years before DJT even thought of a career in politics. There was a time when thoughtful dem voters laughed at him and sent him packing early in the election cycle, but now he's The New Savior. I was interacting with another poster last November on the 'Trump lies worse than my guy lies' parlor trick and he felt an awful lot like you did----you two had the same philosophy and are very like-minded. He was wrong then, you're wrong now.
  21. Where’s the “tizzy” that the snowflake gets in? I see that he posted a link, and no evidence of any “tizzy” along the way. The strength of your former posts was always the dispassionate approach you took while laying out your case. These days, you seem to be losing your way. What’s got you all turned around?
  22. I think it’s awesome that Governor Cuomo “understands the inconvenience” that being driven to bankruptcy causes. That’s really the problem—total financial devastation is an “inconvenience”. Spoken like a true government lifer.
  23. Saying it isn’t about Biden or Harris is absurd. People who vote for them support them. All Biden’s long slow grinding, his connections to China, his racism and his strong arming of Ukraine to fix his boy’s problems, and all of Harris and her baggage.
  24. There's no argument Hoss, it was an intervention. I was just reminding you of the standards you set, how you have deviated from your standard and as a result are a deviator. As for Harris, with luck she's another in a long line of forgettable political miscreants who will leave whatever bodies necesary in her wake as she chugs along. It's not that she's an idiot imo, but not not being an idiot is hardly reason to fawn over. Shes a political combatant, nothing more, nothing less. Live strong.
  25. My mother was born in Canada, a short drive across the Bridge of Peace. I think we all want peace in the world, and should strive toward that goal hand I hand, but points is points and I got ta get payeeed.
