  1. That's pretty much everybody who's anybody, no? Fauci attends a baseball game, ignores his own advice and CDC guidance on masks and social distancing, makes excuses about being a target of mischief makers. He also waffles on masks, is less than transparent on US involvement in Wuhan, and is tepid on virus spreading during times of protest. Newsom locks down Cali, ignores Fauci and CDC guidance on mask/SD, multiple households interacting, and restaurant service indoors. Harris suggests a vaccine created under the Trump admin is perhaps less trustworthy than a vaccine created under the Trump admin but rolled out under Biden. As the first female person of color to hold VP spot, one can only imagine the impact her words had on those folks traditionally identified as vaccine hesitant. Biden admin figures it's worth the risk to throw a sick inaug rager at the height of the pandemic, and some of the most vocal proponents of lockdowns and strict measures obviously must travel to DC for the party. Cuomo softens COVID travel/quarantine rules, but implements substantial travel/quarantine hardship upon some NYers while exposing all of us to threat of spread by eliminating any requirements whatsoever for folks traveling into NY for work/pleasure from the tri-state area. In summary, I could be sitting on a plane next to a resident of Hartford, Ct, traveling back from Florida. My obligation according to the gov was test/quarantine/test/wait. My seat mate's obligation was "Hey, whatever, see you in White Plains tomorrow.". Shoot--here's a website that lays it out: https://datavisualizations.heritage.org/public-health/covid-hypocrisy-policymakers-breaking-their-own-rules/ Of course, the biggest issue has long been the mysterious case of 'virus hover' over social justice demonstrations. People have an innate ability to recognize and reject bullshyt at the political level, especially when someone in authority is trying to convince you that standing in long-assed line at the Home Depot is juxtaposed with watching 10,000 people marching and huddling closely together in a public park with nary a word about the dangers posed therein. People don't trust government, generally, because the reality is that times government has proven to be untrustworthy are not few and far between. Such is life.
  2. I defer to folks with expertise on these issues for a variety of reasons. My commentary comes as the guy sitting in row 22, seat B, sitting next to the chubster who ordered the tuna sub from Subway to eat on the hot shot from Syracuse to Punta Gorda as I leave the seasonal affectation disorder and -5 wind chills in the rear view. I love the convenience of airline travel, have flown often and 95% of the time without incident. Several years ago, we were rerouted from Cancun to Ft Lauderdale due to weather conditions at LaGuardia. We landed, sat on the ground for about 5 hours and were not allowed to deplane as we were not cleared through customs (or whatever they call that). It was frustrating, of course, made worse when some big cat a few rows back started acting up. Anxiety, trouble in his home life, on his way to a funeral, general discomfort or whatever the cause I cannot say. He was loud, boisterous, on a cell phone with Jet Blue corporate, demanding to get off the plane. This created a ruckus as other passengers got upset, words exchanged and I began moving my three young children around in case things got really ugly. Eventually, a fit looking young man with a sidearm and in a uniform boarded the plane, strode back casually, hand on his firearm and asked directly if the guy had a problem. When he demanded to get off the plane, the officer said “It’s not going to happen the way you think, I need you to calm down for everybody’s sake.”. That solved the problem. So, it sucked—the entire process. I’d have gotten off the plane, definitely didn’t understand whatever keep us on the plane in the moment at the time, but ultimately was glad things didn’t get You Tube ugly. The airline handled it, just as they did in this scenario. They handled a problem they didn’t create, had no control over, on a plane where 96% of the stakeholders were frustrated but managed to hold their &$#@ together and where one guy struggled to do so and a few others engaged. The attendants did a good job generally, though I seem to recall one adopted a DMV style approach which did not help. Unfortunately for the good folks in this case, the handling involved canceling the flight. That’s really the definition of handling it, and it certainly sucked for many. I’m all for tossing the dbags that created the mess in the gulag, civil penalties, or even mandatory free-for-all sky dives for the 30 with 29 functioning parachutes. What @sherpa has laid out seems quite logical to me, and takes into account all the dominos that tend to fall when humble folk simply wonder why the &$#@ they didn’t just kick the dbags off and get moving.
  3. That a post of less than 50 words could be ironic on so many levels makes the internet such a special place.
  4. I thought it was because someone said someone else said that someone said something to someone. That should go under the thread that is titled “Stuff people said someone else said they said”. The burden of proof is much, much lower there than in this “Trump is a fascist” (sponsored by Metamucil) thread.
  5. Settle down Captain Threadnanny. I’ll proceed as I see fit, and we both know this to be true.
  6. Prior to the election, a contingent of high profile democrats expressed doubt and concern about election security. These included Sens Warren and Klobuchar. Both of these individuals contended for the nomination to the highest office in the land. There were concerns about production, oversight, hackability, and sowed serious doubt about the ability of Americans to trust in the outcome of our election. There was no pearl clutching, swooning or widespread condemnation of these very powerful people denigrating our election security with anti-American rhetoric. https://www.warren.senate.gov/oversight/letters/warren-klobuchar-wyden-and-pocan-investigate-vulnerabilities-and-shortcomings-of-election-technology-industry-with-ties-to-private-equity This was 11 mos before the election, and suddenly, as if by magic, we transitioned into the most secure election ever as a pandemic raged and the economy locked down. Nothing to see here, it never happened and that’s that. The only question post Biden-Trump was who was going to be complaining the election was fixed. It had already worked once—as the Dems ran their 48 month collusion campaign suggesting Trump was a Rooskie.
  7. It’s just that sometimes you’re having dialogue with yourself, and other times your posts remind me of something White Goodman would say in Dodgeball. The former is boring, but in fairness the latter kind of funny. Back in da dizzay is slightly off the rails tonight. He’s yammering on (mostly to himself), apparently missed the Spitzer resignation and has all sorts a Matt Gaetz on his mind. I think he’s a fan. Backindadizzay:
  8. You’re bantering with yourself, again. It’s still boring.
  9. You’ve created a narrative out of whole cloth here, are arguing against points never raised, and made claims about positions and people that I’ve never taken. That’s boring.
  10. No, I'm not missing any of that. I'm not in the AG's office, I have no idea what constitutes a crime nor do I know anything about what's required to legally/lawfully get fringe benefits or perks. I have my thoughts on the ability to justify such things, but I don't swim in those waters so it is what it is. Maybe this employer-provided-apartment thing is way more dangerous to the collective than it sounds. As for the grand jury, the reality is in our system, they could indict a monkey for eating a banana. The process is one-sided, with a presentation by the prosecutor from the most important office in NYS laying out all the reasons to push forward to a bunch of folks just like me--unschooled in the law, tax regulation, or anything close to what passes as 'business as usual' in the state. Having sat on a grand jury, job one for the prosecution is not to blurt out "THIS IS A SETUP" and beyond that, you're pretty much good to go. Historically, I think, it means one of three things: 1. You're guilty of something and they feel they can prove it; 2. You're not guilty, but unlucky enough that the people responsible for such things think you are; 3. Someone is out to get you; I have no idea what the deal is here. I simply made the point that some crime is criminal but viewed as no big deal, some crime acceptable when you're a power broker in NYS, and the probability that something isn't actually a crime might well be pursued as criminal especially when you consider the players who held the AG position over the past decade or so. NYS is a clown show. It's rife with corruption, money and power rules the day, and its not a stretch to say that a guy driving a Mercedes provided by his employer is a way, way bigger issue to some than a sex trafficking governor and being the architect of a scheme that leaves thousands of our elderly folks dying alone, isolated from loved ones. Maybe it's you who's missing the bigger picture--hard to say, the internet is a funny place.
  11. So let's recap. Organization offers executives perks (leased vehicles, apartments etc), accounting-related questions come into play, criminal charges ensue against high ranking members of organization. According to most reports, disagreements on these sorts of complicated tax disputes are typically resolved in civil court. Be that as it may... Democrat Governor on NY runs a prostitution game from the state capitol where he participates in sex trafficking and all that comes with it, no charges filed. Democrat Attorney General with a drug habit is accused of battering at least 5 women, no charges filed. Democrat Governor of NY (also accused of sexual harassment/offensive workplace conduct) forces nursing homes in the state to accept COVID patients where our most vulnerable citizens reside, resulting in thousands of deaths, subsequently creates a scheme to cook the books to mislead patients, their families and the public, no charges filed. Sounds about right for NY politics. 🤡
  12. Whatever happened to that guy? One minute he’s talking about close interpersonal relationships with guys in the jernt, next thing he drops off the face of the earth.
  13. This is often true. I recall a couple dem presidential front runners raising serious and substantial concerns about election security, fraud and manipulation of votes back before it was fashionable to brand anyone raising such concerns as a heretic. Admittedly that was a full 10 and half months before the most recent election was stamped as the most amazingly cool and safe election in the history of forever. https://www.warren.senate.gov/oversight/letters/warren-klobuchar-wyden-and-pocan-investigate-vulnerabilities-and-shortcomings-of-election-technology-industry-with-ties-to-private-equity
  14. Well, I'd think for most of us, rate of pay falls into one of the 'any one of dozens of reasons'. On top of that, if the work force views the employer/employee relationship as temporary or disposable for any one of dozens of reasons, it likely won't come as a surprise to the employer. If the employer views it similarly, it's likely not a surprise to the employed. There are no new ideas, just different cycles in the life of a business. All you can do as a small business owner is treat people with respect. But, as noted, I'll spread the word and we'll fight the, uh, man, whomever he may be.
  15. Take notice that people are typically employed on an at-will basis? I’ve been a small business owner for 22 years. I can’t speak for all but I think a lot of us know people terminate employment for any one of dozens of reasons. It’s definitely a thing. I’ll try and spread the word.
  16. And W Bush, former war crimes president according to msm and every dem poli suddenly becomes lovable old George, hugger of Shells, statesman and painter. Beloved by millions. His war for oil VPs daughter, a multimillionaire R becomes the darling of the liberal left as she campaigns tirelessly to return to the good old days of American politics where W Bush, Biden, Obama, Romney all hold positions of power and have a whole crapton of benjamins. It’s like nothing really matters.
  17. I see no power shift here. The article mentions a guy who had a job, who decided he didn’t want the job, and is no longer doing it. We don’t know the outcome from the perspective of the company, but one would presume they found another employee to replace him. This is the way it’s been. The guy sees an opportunity to improve his quality of life, the person replacing him likely sees it the same way. The company replaces an employee likely more motivated to do the work they need done. No villains, no victims.
  18. I think in today’s world every time should be as fats or slow as the participant believes it should be. I call it soul racing.
  19. To some, it's that the B-Man doesn't post the RIGHT stuff.
  20. #truth Honestly if I’m Beane I’m on the phone with KC right now offering a 6th for Kelce. That mammajamma has got to be killing their TE room. In fact, I might not even offer that but I have ice in my brains.
  21. Ah, you should have just said that. Thank you for your service.
  22. Why the snark? I agreed that this sort of thing is much ado about nothing, and as natural as the swallows returning to Capistrano. Adams should be excoriated for even questioning a simple keystroke error that resulted in a 135,000 vote miscue. Statistical anomaly. No big deal. It’s like spelling his name Aadams or some’in like that. Special credit for referencing the Rhino though. He’d appreciate that. Or, be mildly concerned. When a NY politician questions election results, I’m just glad it’s not an assault on democracy, kids with freckles and apple pie.
  23. No sensible banker would ever cash that check. The routing and account numbers are all 0s (zeds for our neighbors to the north).
