looks like French politics!! with about half the population working for the state or in the public sector you just can not change anything! as soon as someone dare to talk about reforms half the country goes on strike.! -
Am i the only one thinking that the Eagles should have never tried this onsidekick?! instead of playing on his own line Mc Nabb could have just needed an intermediate pass to get to FG range...

i wrote "catholic sect "because living where i am (deep basque country) that's the risk i could face... we don't have many protestants conservatives or integrist muslims around here... -
the cure is to give hockey back to their fans, to the people that actually care... there is (was?) NHL franchises in Phoenix and Atlanta and not in Quebec and Winnipeg!!! Location is one of the basic rules of business you gotta be where your market is... They should go back to a 15-25 franchises league based in real hockey towns both side of the border. And if they want one day to have a 30 franchises league again thet'd better make an european division( Stockholm-Helsinki-Moscow-Prague- Munich) than to try to sell hockey in the Carolinas!

how right you are!! most of the time when you heard about child molesting or child abuser trials you find out the criminals were "frustrated" guys from very conservative background, catholic prayers, people raised in environments where sex has always been showed as "evil" . They do the worst because because that "bad sex" has become their obsession. Franckly i'd not like to see my kids grow up in the neighborood of a catholic sect... -
he Badinguet, in those issues all our governments are the same... our law books are getting bigger each year and our taxes go the same way while they are telling us for decades that big government is bad ....

you have some dubious friends around here.... or maybe they're all college students! -
I have never said France had not interests in Iraq, but you really consider us like s... if you think "the opposition to the war was STRICTLY based on this". When your own interests and the interests of the world are the same, it's perfect! France is no white dove but it's not the evil player the american conservatives like to describe.

France controls over 22.5 percent of Iraq’s imports. French total trade with Iraq under the oil-for-food program is the third largest, totaling $3.1 billion since 1996, according to the United Nations. In 2001 France became Iraq’s largest European trading partner. Roughly 60 French companies did an estimated $1.5 billion in trade with Baghdad in 2001 under the U.N. oil-for-food program. France’s largest oil company, Total Fina Elf, has negotiated extensive oil contracts to develop the Majnoon and Nahr Umar oil fields in southern Iraq. Both the Majnoon and Nahr Umar fields are estimated to contain as much as 25 percent of the country’s oil reserves. The two fields purportedly contain an estimated 26 billion barrels of oil. In 2002, the non-war price per barrel of oil was $25. Based on that average these two fields have the potential to provide a gross return near $650 billion. France’s Alcatel company, a major telecom firm, was negotiating a $76 million contract to rehabilitate Iraq’s telephone system. In 2001 French carmaker Renault SA sold $75 million worth of farming equipment to Iraq. More objections have been lodged against French export contracts with Iraq than any other exporting country under the oil-for-food program, according to a report published by the London Times. In addition French companies have signed contracts with Iraq worth more than $150 million that are suspected of being linked to its military operations. Some of the goods offered by French companies to Iraq, detailed by UN documents, include refrigerated trucks that can be used as storage facilities and mobile laboratories for biological weapons. Iraq owes France an estimated $6 billion in foreign debt accrued from arms sales in the 1970s and ‘80s. From 1981 to 2001, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), France was responsible for over 13 percent of Iraq’s arms imports. so tell me here where do you see anything illegal?? this program was sponsored by the UN... oh yes we sold some refrigerated trucks!!

sometime americans wonder why they've such a bad image in Europe. When an european hears that school districts does not teach the theory of Evolution in their school programs, if he does not know well the US his first reaction is : "what kind of cavemen live there?!!" -
always the same proofless accusations and the same stupid rhetoric : if we do something we are a pain in your sacred ass, and we do nothing we are an inactive bug riding on your back. You know what Darin? France is probably the best ally the US can have because it's the only that is not hypocritical, that dares to have an opinion and says "no" when it thinks it should be "no". In my personnal life i have no respect for those guys telling me they're my friends and ready to tell me i'm right whatever i do that don't dare to express an opinion that may make not be mine . My best friends are some a..-h... that kick my butt when i do stupid things and i'm glad to have them....

i don't see France isolated in the EU, Germany has shared many of France views and since the Spanish elections Spain is a real support. And if the gouvernments are not in its side the UK and italian public opinions clearly are.
-
ho yes that's the Bush program, make them fear us!! did you really respect the bully when you were a kid at school?!!
-
he you do what you want Darin! if you don't give a crap fine! but why do you anwser to my posts so?
-
what does China want? do you really think Taiwan is so important for them? i don't. They want to make business. we'll make business. They want to be heard on the international scene, we'll listen. France making people angry? Great news!! do you think Chirac cares? do you think frenchmen care? as i said here before, that's something americans and frenchmen have in common, they are arrogant enough no to care what other people think about them. Anyway those last 2 years i think anti-americanism has grown much more than francophobia in this world.

a lot here 'd say France is a former colonial power and the US are a colonial power... but i don't go that far. and don't try to make me ashamed of my history, i know it very well the good parts and the bad parts but my passeport does not make me responsible for either parts. What your statement means? that only americans are good enough to be able to have an opinion on american history? what an arrogance! Now if you can tell me where was the freedom cause in USA history chapters like the help to Pinochet, the support to Noriega, the planned straving of the Cuban and Irakis peoples, the blind bombing of Lybia, the Wounded Knee massacre or the Patriot Act vote i'll be glad to read your arguments. There is no country in this world that can be proud of 100% of its history. You can be proud to be an american, because the US history has much more glorious than dubious episodes but please don't tell me you're the perfect white knights and that any opposition to the decisions made by an US governement is an oppostion to the "cause of freedom". or even worse (because i've heard it too) to the will of God (in God YOU trust, that does not mean God trust the USA to make this world better!!).
-
he Darin the so called "libertarian", if you think it's fine your administration decides what's good for your stomach i think you're a fraud to your political etiquette
-
please don't mix as americans always do the cause of the USA and the cause of freedom.

The leadership and actions of France is recent or older issues like Haiti, Ivory Coast, Bosnia, Lebannon, Tchad, The first Golf war make its record lot better than most other european or asian nations. France has been firm on the Taiwan issue with China. Taiwan has bought a lot of french weapons those last decades (French Fregates anyone?!!) The EU will not fracture, maybe the UK will just leave the EU one day (i'm sad about it but maybe DeGaulle was right it was a mistke to welcome the UK in the EU)

Here's an 'only in Europe' story.

They are running our of moral high ground FAST! .... i do not know a country where it's easier to have a prostitute knocking at your door than the US , open your yellow pages at "escort" ... this is something that has always amazed me in the US, it is a prude country but this is the only i know where prostitutes phone numbers are in the book! -
the goal is not to isolate the US, the goal is to find a way to make european and asiatic views of the international affairs an alternative to the americans'. Today nothing can be done on this planet without the US OK, it has been an excuse for many industrial powers to let the US solve the World problems for too long and it has been the root of many evils, especially rampant anti-americanism. Asia and Europe are as bid economic powers as North America but they' ve let the US become the World Cop. We have to take our responsabilities and i'm happy France and China can talk together on those issues. And yes it can be only possible if Asia and Europe are credible military powers.
