  1. It is a very reasonable deal. One that shows that he was not asking for anything out of line (especially when you compare it to what we are paying Dockery). The Bills easily could have signed him to an extension if they had wanted to do so.

What if he did not want to sign here? Don't you think there is a strong possibility that he was not going to re-sign with the Bills under any circumstances?

  2. "He plays the game the way it's supposed to be played"

"The passion he plays with is contagious"

"He's a great all around back"

    "He's a great blocking back"

    "He hits the holes hard"

"He has the ability to take it the distance"

ROTFLMAO - You've gotta be fuggin kidding me. Unreal. Is everyone only watching Willis versus the Jets? Willis is a goofball and one of the biggest morons to ever step on a football field. Two years ago, he didn't even know the Jets were in our division.

The only gripe I didn't have about Willis is that he wasn't a prick at all. He's probably the type of person that is fun to be around because he's so stupid. Kinda like a Joey on "Friends" or something.

But cmon, some of the pure drivel coming out of Baltimore today is a joke indeed. He isn't any of those things up there. NONE.

Bye bye Willis.......and the Donahoe mess continues to get mopped up.

I loved Newsome's qoute about what a great receiver and blocker he is.

  3. If Turner is worth a 1st and a 3rd, how is Willis not worth at least that? I mean, he has never shouldered a full work load, and I think that a lot of SD's success running the ball can be attributed to their offensive line and their coaching.

From what I have seen of him, I think he may be successful with another team and he has the chance to be a good RB, but worthy of 2 first day draft picks, I'm not sure about that.

He is only worth a 1st and 3rd because he was tendered an offer that calls for that compensation. I can not see any team giving up that much for him.

  4. Hey check out my sig - if you want to come watch the game in Center City. We have a great crew - very funny people and great fans(we have about 40 regulars - sometimes - when it's not a holiday - we get as many as 80!). And, you can take the train the whole way there. Last time I went to Wilmington I think it cost me $14 on Amtrack and but that was in 2000. It's $2 fitty to get to the bar(stop is right next door) from the amtrak station. With the deals we get, the whole thing will cost you about $50-60(of course that is if you drink like we do  ).

I just might do that - I have the Sunday Ticket at home but it would be fun to go out - Don't drink like I used to - I had season tickets up until 2001 and the 90's are kind of a blur. Rich Stadium was fun back then!!

  5. Exactly. I like an offense that is balanced, that has the ability to score quick or play ball control depending on what is actually going on during the game, as opposed to what is says in the "system's" three-ring binder(Mularkey Frankenstein Football). Based on last season, I saw that bringing balance is exactly what Fairchild is doing, so I don't think it's fair to characterize the team as "ball control" or Martz-derived. In all cases, having maulers up front allows us the flexibility to do either. So yes, these offensive line signings help the defense without a doubt, if nothing more than keeping the D off the field if we play ball control, and if we score a lot(Martz), it takes the run game(the thing that we got killed on last year) away from the other team. Hell of a lot easier to play defense leading by 21 in the forth quarter, or the second quarter for that matter.

Where in Philly are you. Moved to Wilmington from Buffalo in '93.

  6. We already have a quick strike offense with JP and Evans, and playing D was anything but easy.

If you can't control the line of scrimage you will lose more often than not, especially in the outdoor elements, where passing is not always an option.

There is not a better thing that the Bills could have done than dedicating resources to improving the OL.

Not sure if you are agreeing with me but I think this team will be very successful running this year.

  7. I say no. I got the sense that Marv's top 2 priorities this offseason were fixing the o-line and the run defense. The o-line could be fixed, but I am not sold that Steve Fairchild will structure the system to the new personnel. In other words for the additions of Dockerey and Walker to mean anything to the defense the Bills will have to play a ball control offense and I am not sure a deciple of Mike Martz will be willing to do this.

Now we go to the run defense. Clements helped the run defense in two ways. The first was that he was a good tackler himself. Many cornerbacks do not like playing the run, but Clements was very capable of doing so. Also Clements did not need much safety help in that he could go one on one with the other teams receiver allowing one of the safeties to play the run. I think the loss of Fletcher is pretty well self explanatory in how his loss hurts the run defense. He played on some defenses in Buffalo that ranked very high against the run. The only way the loss of Fletcher won't hurt is if Marv is right in that the Bills need linebackers that attack and not just pursue.

Like someone was saying in another thread. You take a bad defense and take away two of its best players where does that leave it? I know it is very early in the offseason and it is possible Youboty could fill the gap left ny Clements, but it will take him a while if it ever happens to be in the same caliber as Nate. Unless the Bills add another big name in free agency to the defense the additions of Walker and Dockerey will be for nought.

Ball control offense is over-rated. I want an offense that scores points. Easier to play D when you have a lead.

YOU DO NOT KNOW MORE THAN A PROFESSIONAL STAFF OF A PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM. I DON'T CARE HOW MIND NUMBINGLY ADEPT YOU ARE WITH YOUR TIVO REMOTE AND HOW WELL YOU CAN PAUSE ON THE EXACT RIGHT MOMENT DURING 4X FAST FORWARD. YOU MUST THINK THE BUFFALO BILLS STAFF OF SCOUTS AND COACHES JUST GRADUATED FROM A HOOKED ON PHONICS READING PROGRAM IF YOU THINK THEY WOULD THROW 25 MILLION DOLLARS AT A PLAYER FOR NO GOOD REASON AND WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT AND EXHAUSTIVE RESEARCH. YOU ARE ALSO THE SAME RETARDS WHO BITCHED FOR A MONTH ABOUT "CASH TO THE CAP" AND HOW WE WEREN'T GOING TO THROW MONEY AT ANY PLAYERS BECAUSE RALPH IS A CHEAPSKATE. SO STFU AND WAIT TO SEE THE MAN ACTUALLY PERFORM IN A NEW SYSTEM, WITH NEW COACHES, AND NEW TEAMMATES. I WOULD LIKE TO STOP HOLDING DOWN THE SHIFT BUTTON FOR THE CAPS AS WELL SO JUST INDULGE ME, THANKS.

To use one of my favorite lines from Blazing Saddles - " Now who can argue with that? "

  9. I am concerned that we don't have any top talent scheduled for visits while stiffs like SF and Cleveland do. Yesterday ESPN listed the 30 top FAs and potential suitors, and guess what, the Bills weren't even mentioned once. From the scheduled visits I see that list wasn't very far off. Basically when you have media hacks like Trey Wingo and Lincoln Kennedy extolling the virtues of Ralph's cheapness there must be some truth to the matter! Levy has done an excellent job and I look forward to his draft, but we need a couple of highly skilled FAs to get us where we need to go. Give Losman and Evans a quality line and the sky is the limit, but it will not happen with the jokes I see coming in for visits.

Who gives a flying f@#$k what Trey Wingo and Lincoln Kennedy say. Ralph is cheap because he won't give Clements a $20M check?

  10. 1. Way too much turmoil with this team (two years in a row). Owner saying the team will eventually need to leave, cash to cap, TKO and McGahee. We need stability if we want to attract free agents and fans.

    2. The TKO thing makes some sense because his production does not match his compensation. Having said that, assuming the Bills lose Fletcher, our linebacking corp, once a strength, will be decimated. The Bills will not be able to trade TKO.

    3. All the talk from the Bills about wanting to sign their own players is very annoying since they are about to lose Clements and Fletcher. There are no players at those positions in free agency or in the draft who would play as well or better for the Bills next year. In addition, Clements and Fletcher seem to fit the type of player that the Bills want. Clements has been very professional and Fletcher is a strong leader with character. I thought that these were the types of qualities the Bills were looking for in their players.

    4. I don't really care, but why did the Bills sign Whittle? I thought Marv was looking for quality and not quantity. Does he count towards the four or so players that will be signed in free agency? I would have thought Butler, Merz, Preston and Pennington would have been enough depth, assuming the Bills really target the o-line in free agency. I hope that the o-line finally will be addressed. It will be very disappointing if all of the holes that have been created recently cause the team to devote resouces to other than improving the o-line.

    5. It will be very upsetting to watch teams like San Fran and Cleveland use their cap space while the Bills sit on the sidelines. With the second or third most available cap space, it is crazy not to use it on free agents or on their own players (extensions, etc.).

I think Whittle was signed for depth with Villarrial cut and I'm sure Reyes is gone.

  11. yeah, I know that we have had some players who sought the spotlight(especially in the super bowl days), but I think that a real buffalo hero(for the bills as well as the sabres), is a hard working, quiet, blue collor guy who would rather win games than be hollywood.

willis is not a one of these guys.

I dont know if we will get a great trade for him(I think a first would be fair), but get him, and his attitude, off this team!

I am not getting on you personally, but I am tired of hearing the term blue-collar guy when referring to professional athletes. There is nothing blue-collar about multi-millionaire athletes.

  12. I really don't wish ill on Ralph or anyone...I just wish he sell to some local interests and go away. I was really be metaphorical and you're right, it came out in bad taste.

Ralph Wilson IS NOT going to sell this team. He is almost 90. What would he be waiting for? He has had a number of chances to sell or move and he is still here. He may not be the best owner but he has kept this team here all these years. Criticize him for other things , but the Bills will not leave while he is alive.

  13. Do you really think Marv cares about Willis' lifestyle? I don't. About his attitude-he played last year hurt & if anything his on field attitude was fine. Off field attitude? Marv could care less what his player says in Penthouse-he tossed the question aside when asked.

The only items that are moving Marv to trade McGahee are his production being below his future contract demands and the fact he's on the last year of his contract. If McGahee was locked up long term, was performing like Thurman, had fathered a dozen out of wedlock kids, and said the Bills would be better off playing on Mars than in Buffalo, Marv would be glad to have him & would not be looking to replace him.

"Lifestyle & attitude" have nothing to do with the attempt to trade Willis McGahee.

    Absolutely correct !!
