  1. I am concerned that we don't have any top talent scheduled for visits while stiffs like SF and Cleveland do. Yesterday ESPN listed the 30 top FAs and potential suitors, and guess what, the Bills weren't even mentioned once. From the scheduled visits I see that list wasn't very far off. Basically when you have media hacks like Trey Wingo and Lincoln Kennedy extolling the virtues of Ralph's cheapness there must be some truth to the matter! Levy has done an excellent job and I look forward to his draft, but we need a couple of highly skilled FAs to get us where we need to go. Give Losman and Evans a quality line and the sky is the limit, but it will not happen with the jokes I see coming in for visits.

Who gives a flying f@#$k what Trey Wingo and Lincoln Kennedy say. Ralph is cheap because he won't give Clements a $20M check?

  2. 1. Way too much turmoil with this team (two years in a row). Owner saying the team will eventually need to leave, cash to cap, TKO and McGahee. We need stability if we want to attract free agents and fans.

    2. The TKO thing makes some sense because his production does not match his compensation. Having said that, assuming the Bills lose Fletcher, our linebacking corp, once a strength, will be decimated. The Bills will not be able to trade TKO.

    3. All the talk from the Bills about wanting to sign their own players is very annoying since they are about to lose Clements and Fletcher. There are no players at those positions in free agency or in the draft who would play as well or better for the Bills next year. In addition, Clements and Fletcher seem to fit the type of player that the Bills want. Clements has been very professional and Fletcher is a strong leader with character. I thought that these were the types of qualities the Bills were looking for in their players.

    4. I don't really care, but why did the Bills sign Whittle? I thought Marv was looking for quality and not quantity. Does he count towards the four or so players that will be signed in free agency? I would have thought Butler, Merz, Preston and Pennington would have been enough depth, assuming the Bills really target the o-line in free agency. I hope that the o-line finally will be addressed. It will be very disappointing if all of the holes that have been created recently cause the team to devote resouces to other than improving the o-line.

    5. It will be very upsetting to watch teams like San Fran and Cleveland use their cap space while the Bills sit on the sidelines. With the second or third most available cap space, it is crazy not to use it on free agents or on their own players (extensions, etc.).

I think Whittle was signed for depth with Villarrial cut and I'm sure Reyes is gone.

  3. yeah, I know that we have had some players who sought the spotlight(especially in the super bowl days), but I think that a real buffalo hero(for the bills as well as the sabres), is a hard working, quiet, blue collor guy who would rather win games than be hollywood.

willis is not a one of these guys.

I dont know if we will get a great trade for him(I think a first would be fair), but get him, and his attitude, off this team!

I am not getting on you personally, but I am tired of hearing the term blue-collar guy when referring to professional athletes. There is nothing blue-collar about multi-millionaire athletes.

  4. I really don't wish ill on Ralph or anyone...I just wish he sell to some local interests and go away. I was really be metaphorical and you're right, it came out in bad taste.

Ralph Wilson IS NOT going to sell this team. He is almost 90. What would he be waiting for? He has had a number of chances to sell or move and he is still here. He may not be the best owner but he has kept this team here all these years. Criticize him for other things , but the Bills will not leave while he is alive.

  5. Do you really think Marv cares about Willis' lifestyle? I don't. About his attitude-he played last year hurt & if anything his on field attitude was fine. Off field attitude? Marv could care less what his player says in Penthouse-he tossed the question aside when asked.

The only items that are moving Marv to trade McGahee are his production being below his future contract demands and the fact he's on the last year of his contract. If McGahee was locked up long term, was performing like Thurman, had fathered a dozen out of wedlock kids, and said the Bills would be better off playing on Mars than in Buffalo, Marv would be glad to have him & would not be looking to replace him.

"Lifestyle & attitude" have nothing to do with the attempt to trade Willis McGahee.

    Absolutely correct !!

  6. Vegas55 made a great point. You can't diminish his point just because it's presently not an income. Ralph WILL eventually sell the team. Even if he walks away with $300 to $400 million after taxes, that's still a far cry from his initial investment. He should spend more instead of trying all he can to make an annual profit.

I understand your point. I wish he would spend more also, however Wilson will NOT sell this team. He will die first.

  7. When will the whining of Hall of Shame owner Ralph Wilson ever stop. Look, there's two ways a business can be profitable; it can operate at a profit every year or the value of the business can appreciate ( or both) A simple example is a rental home, where it is not uncomon at all for the owner to incur more expenses each year than is received in rental income; as long as the value of the home keeps increasing, your ahead of the game. You won't find many people complaining, in LA for example, that bought their rental house for 200 grand years ago, rented at a loss every year, but have seen the house sky rocket in value, to say $750,000. Now Ralph paid $100,000.00 for this franchise, it has appreciated in price to 700 million, but he also insists on showing a substantial profit each and every year. The 700 million dollar profit just isnt enough. The kicker is that he has run this organization horribly. From the time of the AFL/NFL merger, the team was a laughing stock, so bad that Jim Kelly took one look and bolted to the USFL (read his book) Then Ralph stumbles onto Bill Polian, who finally builds a consistent winner and he fires him. Lucky Ralph, he inherits Butler and AJ smith - then fires them (over money) These guys go on to build powerhouse franchies while the Bills sink into mediocrity (again) Along the way, the great man Wilson is sanctioned by his fellow owners for his attempt to screw Wade Phillips out of $750,000.00. All we currently hear is this mega mega millionaire complaining about his finances. How many other small market owners are constantly threatening their communities with moving the franchise.

If you buy a home for $100,000 and 10 years later it is worth $700,000, this does not mean you have $700,000 to spend. You would have to sell the house 1st to realize this profit.

  8. With the expected extreme difficulty in retaining Nate Clements, London Fletcher-Baker and Chris Kelsay and the strong possiblity that Takeo Spikes will be released how does this team even expect to maintain the mediocre defense it had last year?

    Losing 4 starters?

I'm an optimist and I see this team struggling to win 6 games this year.

A great draft and a most certain below average free agency hunt is not going to counter the loss of these 4 players.

Losing Clements will suck but I did not know this defense was so great that we need to keep everyone from last year.

  9. I'd rather have Kurt Schulz, IMO he was a better overall player.

PLUS, he still lives in buffalo if Im not mistaken. I recall resading somewhere that he is a financial advisor or something like that.

Hate to get in to an argument about players over 10 years ago, but do you seriously think Schulz was a better player than Jones? You can not believe that.

  10. But if we lose both of them AND let Kelsay walk I will not feel good about being a fan of this franchise.

Unless of course we bring in a BIG NAME DE to replace him.

But between our cap-room and needing some continuity within the player personell AND the fact that we wont find anyone at his level any cheaper anyways... he better be a Bill next year.

I thought our defense stunk last year. I do not care who they replace as long as they get better. Was Kelsey that good that you would miss him?

  11. So now Schumer takes up a cause that a fair number of upstate New Yorkers care about, and we blast him for it...nice!

Hate to say it, but the one we should be blasting is Ralph Wilson, in this whole mess.

What has Wilson done wrong? Remember, when this team was winning in the 90's some games were blacked out. Not sure why you are blaming Wilson? Also, home games late in the season are supposed to be an advantage for the Bills.

  12. I here you on that. I see him in the veteran "James Patrick" type role for us.

He might not be the fastest-but his experience allows him to get good positioning.

He has Stanley Cup experience, which Ruff has stated on TV and on the radio he wouldn't mind adding to the team.

He also has a physical prescence in front of the net....which really isn't a strong point for us.(granted it's not as important as it used to be).

You're right. He would be a good complement, not perfect fit. Going to be interesting at the deadline. I do not see us making any moves.

  13. I think Buffalo native Aaron Miller would be the perfect addition on our defense.

I don't know what the Kings would want though.

Not sure how he would be a "perfect" fit. He is unlike any defensemen we have. Big, slow and no offensive skills. Our D have to be quick, good skaters and passers. Not sure Miller is any of those.

  14. In other words it's more corporate wellfare coming from the tax payers pockets. It's a f**king joke that we taxpayers have to buy a billionaire a $5 million TV. The fact that the county pays even a penny to the Bills is a crime against the citizens of Erie County. It's a hard enough battle to rebuild this region without having to fork over millions to a business that already has all expenses paid before they even start their fiscal year.

If Ralph wants a new TV then he should pay for it himself or raise ticket prices to cover the cost. Leave the taxpayers out of it. We have enough real life issues here in WNY to worry about. Real issues like roads, schools and jobs. We don't need a brighter & clearer picture of Loseman throwing a pick for a TD.

This is another step for the Bills towards becoming more of a burden than they are an asset.

Then stop following them. Like Erie County would fix all that if they did not replace the scoreboard. Give me a break.

  15. This is the quote that I enjoy the most of all of them.

Bills Owner Ralph Wilson, on Kraft suggesting the team should sell the naming rights to Ralph Wilson Stadium: “I appreciate Kraft’s suggestion. It recalls the oldest story of life: When you go to a poor guy, he will give you money. When you go to a rich guy, he will give you advice”

    Classic.

That old chap still got it.

That is good. On that note, he would not get much money for naming rights from any company in the area.
