  1. Lewis is fully assimilated into the Mike Brown collective. He came into town with hope and acclaim - but he's proven to be a poor field general, and is two-faced to fans and press alike.

He's under contract, and Brown won't eat a contract.

Didn't know he was that way with the fans and media. Too bad. A very over-hyped coach who did not turn out as expected.

  2. Just some clarification: The quote came from BillsDaily which got their report via WGR.

    (From BillsDaily.com:)

    LATEST BILLS NEWS

    Tuesday August 19, 2008

Peters Getting Ready To Report? The Bills continue to have little or no contact officially with holdout tackle Jason Peters. WGR is reporting that Derrick Dockery has been communicating with Peters through text messages. Dockery said he thinks Peters will report soon.

    *****************

The new contract part came from the poster of this Thread.

    ******************* Here's my take:

I ASSUME the Bills are going to be "professional" about this: When Peters reports, they will check him out physically, tell him he has to pay all the fines and to get to work. Meanwhile, they will contact his agent

to listen to their demands. The Bills will tell them that Jason is under contract and that they expect him to abide by it BUT that they will take the demands into consideration and, after Lee Evans is signed to an extension, Jason's case for a new contract will be explored. In other words, treat the player and agent with respect but make it clear that they are under no obligation to rip up the old contract and that they defienitely will not reward a holdout.

    my 2 cents

I have a feeling the Bills know his demands , which is why he is not in camp.

  3. No one said you should feel sorry for him. It is people on your side of this calling him a greedy lazy bastard who should care more about the team than the financial security of his family. The only point I am making, that you still haven't addressed, is that he has just as much right to getting paid as much as he can for his services as you do. He doesn't play for a "team", he works for an employer, a business. It is no more his responsibility to take less pay than he is worth in the market than it is your responsibility to take a pay cut for the good of your employer/team. Maybe anyone who aspires to be more than a Joe Schmo is a fat greedy bastard to you but to those of us who are not socialist commies, I think he should get paid what he is worth.

If you want to end this arguement, just tell me how many times you have offered to take significantly less pay for the same job for the good of the "team". Peters is no different from any other player when it comes to securing the highest pay for his services. If you don't like it, go watch an intramural bowling league where they play for the pure love of the game...and beer.

Your 1st paragraph is correct. However, he is under contract and was arguably overpaid for the 1st 2 years. He does have all those rights but right now he is breach of his contract and negotiating from a position of weakness. The Bills will move on if he does not show up and will have to go through legal venues to get released from his deal.

  4. Respectfully, I think the baby whining is all this stuff about only negotiating with a guy who is in camp. Its juvenile. This is big business, not a scout troop. It is about money, not moral principles. Just about 99% of every hold out that has ended in a new contract involved negotiating with the player not in camp. Jason Peters doesn't need to show the team or young players anything about showing up and working hard. These guys are paid large sums of money to play hard. That is essentially the bargain every player makes in the NFL, the team pays them their worth, they play their butts off. That is the deal. Obviously, Jason doesn't think he is getting paid his worth.

The reason Jason Peters is not getting a new contract isn't because he didn't come to camp. It is becasue the team doesn't want to pay the millions of dollars extra he wants.

Think about it, what makes more sense, that the team is trying to save millions of dollars or that they are worried about their impressionable younger players? Its the money. Always is.

This does not make sense. How can you be a holdout if you are IN camp?

  5. What difference does it make if he said it or not. When he passes the team will be sold. Do you really care for how much? If you are selling your house , are you taking the highest bid or not? I know that's on a different scale but the same premise. I don't know how religious you are but do you think he cares what happens after he dies. He's dead. Don't think he's going to know anything after that.

  6. Here's the reason I believe why JP is still here:

The team couldn't bring in a proven veteran backup this year, because the maket for one is around $2 million/season. Since JP is already here, and on his rookie contract, you can pay him more than Edwards. However, you just can't bring in a veteran backup for $2 million when your starter is making a lot less-bad politics.

So next year, if Edwards proves his worth, he'll get a big $ extension, like Butler did after starting the full year in his 2nd year with the team. With Trent making the big $, you can pay the backup $2 million & not rock the boat politically.

I think you are reading too much in to it. There were no real good back ups on the market, JP was not going to get us anything in a trade and he was already under contract. Money-wise you are right. Both guys are on their 1st contract so salaries are not that high. Edwards may get an extension and maybe the Bills think next years back up is already on the roster. If not , they will have to bring someone in.

  7. FAQ Access Card.

You have received a conditional access card (referred to as the Access Card) and a License Agreement governing your use of the Access Card while you are receiving our Service. Access Cards are nontransferable and are the exclusive property of DIRECTV. If you tell us that the original Access Card was lost, damaged, defective or stolen, we will replace it, as long as there is no evidence of unauthorized tampering with or modification of the Access Card and your account is in good standing.

It does not say if your card is damaged they will send you a new box.

No, but I think they will link it to your receiver (s) when they send the card to you.

  8. Questions if you don't mind:

I'm moving soon and the area I am going to does not have any locals on the SAT and 2 of the 3 nets don't even have OTA HD. Been thinking about having my brother in Texas sign up and transplanting his dish and receiver.

Did you do this to get around blackout rules and if so did you need to plug the units into a landline? (have heard that they don't really check and wondering if it is true).

If you didn't plug the units into a landline was there another receiver at the orig location that would have been there to pick up the auth phone call?

    Thanks.

BTW where is Fez, he should be all over this post.

Yes, it does get around blackout rules and I do not plug a landline in to my receiver. Never did it and see no reason to. If I need PPV , I will order online or just call but I rarely or ever use PPV. eball is correct again. I think the receiver and card are matched so both have to be moved.
