  1. I agree with that, 8 and 8. The ownership thing must be settled. The rumor of that happenning had me really excited.
  2. I like the moves, which amount to little more than a re-org of the management structure. We got a good GM with a very nice resume running the football side of things, and as Dick Drawn said above, Russ Brandon seems like a very solid businessman. So as we wake today to greet 2010, the Bills have a strong football man running the football side of the operation and a strong businessman running the business side of it. Thas something we didnt have yesterday and is a VERY nice improvment.
  3. Actually, I could care LESS about Barry vacationing. I was pointing out how stupid the whole pet goat thing was. Way to miss the point, bozo.
  4. Even I have to lol at Jim's comment. Wow. If this were a real functioning govt (on both sides) they would review the Act as a whole, revise as necessary, and pass a new version of it that law enforcement is comfortable with, yet doesnt get the ACLU-types all pissy. But cant have THAT....mkaes too much sense.
  5. Blz...there is some corrobrating stories about people trying to help this douche board the plane, as he didnt have a passport.So...he was NOT alone in any way. Nice to see that it took Barry's minions three hours to let him know about this. Yet, they woke him up FIFTEEN MINUTES after he won his NPP. "My Pet Goat", indeed. Napolitano is hack...oh...this is written by a liberal NYC columnist: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2...f_security.html
  6. Im actually GLAD hes not gonna. "WE" now have our "heckuva job, Brownie" quote to throw in your pathetic faces at will.
  7. Obama's gotta fire that broad over that comment. I mean...he HAS TO. Right?
  8. This illustrates why I reallly think the rule is a bad idea. I think more oftne than not, they wont go, but cancel the flight all together....which is EXACTLY what the airlines mean here. More cancelations, not less. I do almost feel bad for the airlines. Name me one other industry where people DEMAND top shelf service and REFUSE to pay more thasn $5 over bargain basement prices for it.
  9. If given the chance, 3/4 of BILLS FANS would rather coach in Dallas or Washington over Buffalo. Cant blame Shanny at all.
  10. No, actually the point of the whole thead is that 95% of the flying public are douchebag "me first" loudmouths without an ant's dick of understanding of how airline operations really work. By the way...last time I go caught in the sitatuation described above....they pulled us back to the gates, opened all the doors, loaded food and water, gave us a good estimate of when the plane would be ready to go...and gave us the option to leave, if we wanted to.
  11. No, actually...we ARE talking about aborted takeoffs. What do you think happens when a 757 taxis into position, the pilot flicks on the strobes, brings the throttles up to 92% N1...but then the EGT or N2 gauge doesnt play along? Hes pulling off the runway, parking on the taxiway and going to run some checks, thats what. And then...proably going to pull up to the company tarmac where a repair crew will check over the bird right then and there with the passengers still on board. And after two hours or so, the ground crew will give him the go ahead or they will cancel the flight depending on what they find. Again...repairs are dont on the fly MOST of the time...beucase an airline's planes have to do that funny thing called "generate revenue." And do do that, they have to do what they are built to do...fly. A lot. Almost constantly. To illustrate how much work an airliner gets further...next time you fly, when the engines are started if you DONT smell a whiff of kerosene (Jet A, more or less), the plane youre on was in the air probably not even an hour or two ago. And Id guarantee you wont experience this on 90% of the flights you fly.
  12. Yeah...like when the throttles are advanced to takeoff power. But according to folks, they should do that at the gate!!!!
  13. Ya know....youre right.....and to make sure this happens, the airlines will have, like what someone mentioned earlier, "ready to go" spares at every airport, more maintainence personel and FULL aircraft checks before every flight. Oh by the way....the $150 fare you just paid will now be $450 AND youll now have ONE option to fly to your destination per day, not three. This is to make sure there is plenty of time for the full pre-flight check for every departure you demand. I assume youre OK with that.
  14. Not for nothing, but he keeps the stands full for a lousy product....as a marketing guy, his #1 job is to sell the product. Id say hes doing a pretty good job.
  15. Oh yeah...its a simple feat really....launching a fifty ton combination of metal, jet fuel and human beings into the air, up to about eight miles up, with tens of thousands of other similar devices up there at the same time, travelling thousands of miles to a destination, and then bringing it back to the ground with barely more than some noise and a rush of reverse thrust. Thats the point...Im not "defending" the airlines as much as Im mocking the completely UNREALISTIC and downright laughable expectations of folks like yourself. The airlines could certainly do a better job. There is no excuse for the sitation like what happenned with some of those ten hour horror stories. But in general, people need to realize aviation is bloody complicated and downright dangerous, and the amount of effort to make the system work properly on a daily basis is tremendous. So yeah....every now and then...you have a wait a few hours for situations to be resolved and things to work out. And when youre stuck in those sitations, realize whats really going on and stop with your holier than thou bull ****.
  16. Oh yes, there will. Hope the cockroach motel you wind up at becuase your flight was cancelled is comfortable.
  17. Then youre stupid. Plain and simple. Youre one of those mindless twits who think that air travel is some kind of game. Do the world a favor and walk next time you have to go across the Country. See you next Spring.
  18. There are planes like that at some airports. Hangar Queens they are called. Usually used for spare parts. Much more of a practice in the military than in commercial aviation, though.
  19. I know yer kidding, but seriously, an aircraft is making money when its flying. The SECOND it touches the ground, it is no longer. So spares are a no-no. Most pilots outside of those working for major carriers, like the ones who fly lears and King Airs and what not get paid for "wheels up" only. All their flight prep and planning time is on their own dime. Unless youre a big time pilot flying for a major carrier, its not as glamorous as it seems.
  20. Kind of on a seperate note...its kinda funny that the close-minded right wing redneck evangelical hotbed of Houston Texas elected a lesbian mayor...yet liberal, open minded, tolerant New York defeated gay marriage.
  21. I think were agreeing. This wont be hard to comply with....as long as you allow people off while the doors are open. Once they close and the flight puses back, its a different stroy.
  22. Actually, yes. Tires (but not often), marker and nav lights, small engine parts, anything INSIDE the aircraft like a broken seat rail, bin, air conditioning, you name it. Maybe the pilot is getting a warning light of some sort and s/he asks for a crew to come to the aircraft and check it out. ****, Ive seen maintainence pull hydraulic lines and inspect them, right at the gate.
  23. You dismember fetuses, so Im confused by your "outrage" here.
  24. But thats the problem with the law! It doesnt take into account that funny little thing called "the real world." I dont mean to be a doosh...let me explain... Once an airliner pushes back...ESPECIALLY once its out on the taxiways in line for takeoff, there IS NO OPTION to just up and "go back to the terminal", especially at major airports like Logan, JFK, LGA, Dulles, LAX, MCO, etc. There isnt even the possibility of just "sending busses out to the taxiway" like you propose. Its WAY too dangerous. The decision must be made AT THE GATE to either move forward, or give people the option to leave. Once an airplane leaves the gate, even before it leaves the tarmac area and goes out to the taxiway, its bloody difficult to get it back to the gate, sometimes impossible....which is why this situation often occurs in the first place.
