What a bunch of idiots. It's not like TP or soap have an expiration date.

They all play a role, but at this point it's difficult to know which of the three C's (climate, culture, custom) is more vital. But looking at the data from across the world, the evidence is clear that ignoring them puts communities in peril. USA is probably the most diverse country in the world in terms of climate and cultures, and after a month of the spread, the patterns are too obvious to ignore. Even if you look at the NYC epicenter of the Wuhan virus, the data is astounding. NYC started reporting cases by zip code, and it's illuminating. One would figure that the heavily Asian neighborhoods would be the worst hit, given the viral origin. But that's not the case. The Asian neighborhoods in Brooklyn, Manhattan & Queens show the lowest rates of infections, even though the residents are in the thick of all NYC activity. The neighborhoods are just as dense and they take the same public transit. The larger outbreaks are in the Hispanic and black communities. Also notable are the spikes in the Hasid and Ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods in Brooklyn & Queens (who totally ignore the social distancing recommendations). Moral of the story? For the time being, look at what the Asians are doing during a viral spread. BTW, be extra careful if you're in Chemung and St. Lawrence counties - they show the fastest growth in the state now. That's how trouble begins.

Climate, culture and custom play a huge, but underrated role in stemming the spread. -
There should be a national dialogue in getting back to work

There's a good possibility that after Easter Sunday more conversations will turn to how to get things back to normal. NY trends are showing a peak next week and hopeful easing of hospital's stress. -

CA, FL and TX are also very telling. -
You're missing a very important entry from March 9, when a certain mayor didn't want to cancel St Patrick's Parade, and NYS case count was about 150. https://www.silive.com/coronavirus/2020/03/mayor-says-nyc-has-no-plans-to-cancel-st-patricks-day-parade-as-ireland-cancels-dublins-parade-amid-coronavirus-fears.html "The mayor emphasized Monday that the coronavirus is not a disease people can contract simply by being in a large open space."

It's the classic 80/20 rule. For 80+% of cases, your daily trips don't exceed the charged battery capacity. You don't build your infrastructure to meet the needs of the 10% -

Then you better hope that politicians are onboard to upgrade electricity generation and improving the power grid. -

So when did it move? My clock says 2 hrs, but I don't have the time stamp of the mod move -
Nah, that's just for decoration.

Birx said it. The blueprint is out there, people just have to stick with it.

Trends are pointing to a peak this week. NYC had its first instance where IC admissions = discharges yesterday. PS - As of today, discharges exceeded new hospitalizations by about 400!
-
It's stupidity like this that makes common sense rules fly out the window, because all recommendations by gov't & health officials will be eyed with suspicion.
-
It's fruitless to look at US as a monolith. The resources and response should be built out from the most affected localities onward. The message should be - Look at NYC which didn't take it seriously until it was too late. Don't be like NYC and not take this seriously and avoid common sense prevention measures.

There's almost no correlation between the areas where 5G has been turned on and the intensity of the spread, especially when you look at the diametrically opposite results in Italy vs South Korea. SK probably leads the world in 5G deployment, while 5G hasn't been turned in Milan, but is live in southern areas of Italy. Having said that, there should be a bit more concerns about the fixed wireless deployments of 5G that use millimeter wave tech. Back in the early days of wireless, these antennas were only to be placed on very high rooftops to avoid hitting humans. -
What hysteria? If there are a few acknowledged cases, that means that there's a lot more in the area that aren't acknowledged. Preventing the spread is the best case scenario at this point, and wearing masks is a proven method.
-
If you want to keep the cases low you need to practice proper preventive protocols. Look at what they do in Asia, where the contagion is basically stopped. In any event you shouldn't be wearing an N95 mask. Planty of options, including home made versions.
-
They will have people in the parking lot enforcing the rules. In many places here, the cops are also stationed at the entrances.
-
It's a recommendation to use common sense. Even if you are in a rural area you should use a mask if you are around other people. You don't need to use it at home or in your car.
-
Probably the only time I will say this, but in his defense ... I believe he wanted to shut it down, but Cuomo wanted to keep the parade.

I wonder if it's related to this
