Then why not Berlin, LA, SF? Rome was not as affected.

China's numbers are immaterial to what's happening in SW Europe. The deadly strain should have also migrated to the neighboring Asian countries. It didn't, and skipped over much of Asia into Iran.
-
If you know nothing about infectious disease and look only at the numbers, here's the pattern to explore - Top 5 countries for mortality - Italy, Spain, France, UK and USA.
-
We don't know. All we have now are statistics, and the numbers point to totally random trends, when you would expect a more uniform distribution within countries and interconnected economies. But that isn't happening. Another number worth considering is that the top 5 countries for mortality account for 73% of all Wuhan virus deaths worldwide! And even within those countries, the mortality isn't uniform.
-
These stats actually argue against ongoing universal lock downs. This is further proof that whatever mutation/engineering this virus has, if your region happens to be hit with the deadly strain, there's not much you can do. For other areas, things should be returning to normal, because the virus isn't as deadly. No one has really provided a cogent explanation for the wide disparity in the virus's infection rates and mortality across regions, countries, states & cities.

I totally forgot.

I thought you'd point to more statistics of the near halt of the virus in warm weather states. Remember how Louisiana was going to be the next disaster zone? The data suggests that every state, but CT, NJ & NY should start looking to reopen ASAP. Build up the herd immunity in advance of the fall season.

This is some serious deranged stuff.

Do you understand the difference between cause and effect, and leading and lagging indicators? Are you actually proposing imposing the same standard of behavior across the entire country because some nursing homes have awful sanitary conditions?
-
Or people can do a better job with personal hygiene. The six foot limit is totally arbitrary. Law enforcement is doing more dangerous things than what they're trying to accomplish. What's the difference of someone jogging in a park path vs the same jogger 50 feet away on the sidewalk. Maintaining a proper distance and washing yourself more frequently will do a hell of a lot more to prevent an all out spread, than anything else you've proposed.

We're onto day 3 after the Austin TX protests. Cases should start spiking today through Wed, right?
-
And you continue to be dishonest. Your link is the county admitting that it screwed up in the first place with its order. Gateway Pundit linked to the April 14 story, and yours is the April 16, oops, we screwed up story after the outrage.

At the very least it would be good to know one of his more notable songs, if you're going to steal an identity.

Proves how much of a true moron you are when you don't even know ***** Warren Zevon's songs.

He'll be civil when he's dead.

Why don't you let the other idiot answer the question?

Why don't you compare Germany to California?

Sure, focus on the loudmouth, but not the guy who touched the doctor? Or anyone else crossing the street without a mask?

Don't forget CT & NJ. I'd venture that on a handful of morning trains from those two states, there's easily $50 million of annual income tax to NYS. Upstate is a slave to downstate politics. The tide really turned when both chambers in Albany turned Dem, killing any realistic hope for an upstate rebound. It's always an interesting question of what would happen if downstate and upstate were to split. Initially it would be painful for upstate, but it could then plot its own path and not be so reliant on NYC metro.
-
It's the corollary to the progressive tax systems where the higher income population pays the disproportionate share of the tax burden. NYS does not put out the data of inflows & outflows by county for obvious reasons to not stoke resentment within the state. Upstate pays very high property taxes in some areas, but that's relatively small change compated to the income tax that's generated downstate. Rockefeller Institute put out a study in 2011-2012. If anything, downstate's contribution has risen in the decade since the report was done.

The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
GG replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Kyle Dunnigan. Also does a great Trump. -
I know it's repeated often, but this is a myth. NYC plus the 5 counties surrounding it are the money machine for the state. Don't ignore CT & NJ commuters who also pay the full NYS tax. Granted, Cuomo can relax a lot of the business restrictions on upstate and Southern Tier to help their economies grow. But the fact remains, NYC metro contributes much more to the state fisc than it takes out.

They're totally missing the Eraserhead look, for people who haven't touched their hair in 2+ months.

There should be a national dialogue in getting back to work

The protests in the low infections states are the perfect test ground for the further spread of the virus. If these states don't see an uptick in cases by Tuesday or Wednesday, then it's enough proof that it will be safe to start reopening. -
This is becoming more apparent. With the nasty flu this season, and the little mentioned stomach bug that many people in the Northeast have been fighting in the last month, it won't surprise me that this thing has cycled through a good portion of the population already.
