  1. He did say Florence was a priority of theirs http://wedg.com/ on the right listen to the buddy nix interview
  2. Code, I'll make you feel better. I want to let him walk because of his play. He is horrendous in coverage. He's been scored on by more NFL TE's than Kim Kardashian. The guy was getting burned down the seam by such elite athletes as Anthony Fasano and Rob Gronkoski. Compensation? He's making 8th overall draft pick money. Nobody is trading for that contract. His attitude on twitter is just a further annoyance. Let me put it this way, if Kyle Williams was on twitter acting a fool, it would be easier to understand. But for Whitner, an overdrafted, underperforming, over-vocal player to be such a fool on twitter is just the last of the many reasons to say.
  3. Anyone follow him on Twitter? He's making ambiguous comments like "I'm gone and I'm happy" a day after saying he is done in Buffalo, and he wonders why people read too much into it. lol I like when Public figures put their thoughts on social media, then act like people are invading their privacy whenever they get called out on their passive aggressive remarks.
  4. likes this.... wait, nevermind, this isnt facebook. But I still liked it
  5. If the Bills didn't like Clausen enough to draft him, why would they trade for him? Matt Flynn would maybe be worth a flier. I also would kick the tires on Kevin Kolb
  6. Maybe I'm getting old, but I've spent the last decade trying to pretend our starting QB is better than what my eyes tell me and I don't have the energy to do so anymore. I like fitz. I think he is a gamer, he's gritty, and if you got sick of Trent Edwards checking the ball down, then Fitz is the perfect QB , because he will force some throws. But, all of his good qualities don't erase that fact that his career numbers add up to being a mediocre NFL starter, and last year in his career year, he still had some horrendous games. I think he gets the most out of his ability, which again....cannot be said for our last 2 starters.......but I think he is like that pitcher who gets called up from the minors who has a couple good starts, then starts getting lit up. I think as a 16 game starter, he gets exposed, and he doesn't have the physical ability to make up for it. Easy guy to root for, and for where this team is, I think he is a servicable starter. But if you want to start talking about high expectations, then let me know when they have a different QB
  7. Along with the guys coming in this year, you're going to hopefully get improved play from Troup, Carrington and Moats, and Danny Batten is a guy I know they like a lot. Our D is bad, but we have an All-Pro on the D-Line (Williams) and if Dareus lives up to the hype, we have 2 d-linemen offenses have to gameplan for....which is more than a lot of teams have
  8. I agree with you and most of this board does as well, but dont forget, the guys making decisions gave him a fat contract mid-season. I don't think they did that to have him ride the bench. Here's how I think it will break down. Our "Starters" aka, the faces you see in CBS during the first drive. DE's, Dareus and Edwards DT Williams OLB's Merriman and Kelsay ILB's Poz and Sheppard CB's McGee and McKelvin FS Byrd SS Whitner (IF they go back to the 2010 rules. If not, I would say Wilson) OK... Here's what really matters.... I think the above will be their base 3-4. I think you'll see sets where Troupe goes on the nose, and Williams kicks outside. I think you'll also see times when Dareus lines head up on the center. When we go 4-down-linemen.....say in a nickel (4 DL, 2 LB 5 DB) If it's third and Long.....I think you'll see Kelsay and Merriman at DE, Dareus and Williams at DT. I think you could also see Moats put his hand on the ground and rush the passer.
  9. Donahoe brought in... Nate Clements (Pro Bowler) Travis Henry (Pro Bowler) Aaron Schobel (Pro Bowler) Takeo Spikes (Pro Bowler) Sam Adams (Pro Bowler) London Fletcher Lawyer Milloy traded for Drew Bledsoe (Had a pro bowl season year 1) So yes, he missed on JP Losman...... But show me the pro bowlers brought in by Levy
  10. I think Fitz is ok if you are like me and have no expectations for this year. I think he can run our offense, get guys involved, put together a few exciting Sundays, but with the way this team is built, probably still finish around 4-12. Im glad the Bills didnt take Dalton. Why take a QB who reminds you of a young Ryan Fitzpatrick. This wasnt the draft to take a franchise QB unless you had the first pick, and even that one is debatable. THe Bills were unlucky that the year they hit rock bottom, there were just not any QB's there to take. Next years QB crop does look better...even beyond Luck. You have Barkley from USC, the Ariz Qb and the Mich st. QB. Im glad this team didnt just take a QB for the sake of taking one.
  11. I know this point has been beaten to death, but as a guy who loves the NFL draft, one thing I like to do after the draft when the rest of the world is trying to grade it is look back on the past few and really see how things set up. When you look at the era from Marv Levy/Dick Jauron/ Brandon.....it really put this team in a hole. I think fans sometimes look at picks and think if the guy doesnt end up being a star, it was a waste. But in my opinion, if the guy can find a role for himself on the roster and stick around, I think it is a good pick. FOr example, Reggie Corner. 4th round pick from 2008, never been a starter, but a solid contributor in nickel and dime packages. I think thats a good pick when you consider the point they got him. But when you look at the list of guys taken from 2006-2009, the amount of them who are no longer on this roster, and the guys who were taken REAL early who have yet to be better than marginal starters, its really obvious why this team is in the positon its in. People want to get on Tom Donahoe, but Donahoe took over a team in cap jail, made 2 aggressive moves to acquire franchise QB's, made some key FA acquisitions, and got this team to 8-8 and 9-7, which no a days seems like we would have a parade if we hit 9 wins. The Levy, Jauron, Brandon era has just put us in a hole
  12. For what its worth, 2 months ago if you had told me the Bills would come out of this draft without a QB, I would have thought you were insane, and too take it one step further, if you had told me they would come out of the first two days without a QB I would have laughed and told you to do some more research.... But I think it was just one of those breaks where the supply didn't meet the demand. If Cam had fallen to three, I think they would have taken him. If Dareus had gone in the top two, I think they would have taken a long hard look at Gabbert. If Ponder had fallen within reach of the 34th pick, I think they would have been aggressive in trying to trade up. But, outside of that, it's clear they just didn't like the QB situation in this draft.
  13. there's certainly some validity to what you're saying, but it is still misleading. In 1998, the Bills spent a first round pick to acquire Rob Johnson. In 2002, they spent a first round pick to acquire Drew Bledsoe, and in 2004, they traded their 2005 first round pick to get JP Losman. So, while that is an impressive stat, its not like they havent been aggressive at QB. And my gut feeling.....and 4 hours after the draft ends, all we can go by is gut feelings, I think when the NFL History books look back on this draft, I think the story will be the number of first round QB's who didn't pan out.
  14. I've never seen him play, but I've heard of his brother his dad and his uncle, and at this point in the draft that's all I care about. Fail by the Bills to not get the NEXT Clay Matthews. (sarcasm off)
  15. I like Stocker a lot and think he would be a good fit, I really like the upside of the OT from Indiana, Brewer. Maybe not a 2011 guy, but if he can add some strength, he has the frame and intangibles to be a starter at RT down the road IMO. Ricky Stanzi....Im all for it in round 4 or 5. And no, this isnt about..."HE IS OUR FUTURE FRANCHISE QB".....but you're talking about a guy with a lot of college starts under his belt, a plus arm and a good leader. I mean, you never know, he COULD be the next tom brady...... , but more realistically, you get a solid number 2 Frank Reich type for years to come. Lets not forget, QB isnt just about starter. If Fitz goes down, who do we have. I like the Stanzi idea a lot.
  16. Kapernick in the 3rd....or Stanzi/Taylor on Day 3 sound good to me.
  17. Nice write up. I would also add Kyle Rudolph. May never be Antonio Gates, but he is an all-around TE prospect.....a more athletic version of Heath Miller, and like Dareus, a guy that comes with minimal risk and little to no chance of not being a day 1 starter and a long term contributor
  18. Im obviously intrigued by Bowers, but I just fear that his knee is bone on bone. I'd rather go for the solid starting type player in Akeem Ayers who stands a much better chance of being a long term answer
  19. Nobody is disputing that, but it's not like this is a random flip of the coin wednesday in July where you can talk about either team. The NFL draft is in 2+ hours
  20. I gave up on local radio stations a long time ago, especially since I bought my Sirius and can get Sirius NFL radio, but I tuned in today just to get a feel for what Bills fans wanted in the draft..and what do I hear? Hockey offseason talk? I was listening earlier, and they were making light of the fact that neither one of them knew much about the draft. "That texas A& M LB seems good, I that D-Lineman from Alabama seems good" These two clowns work in Buffalo, not New York. they have 2 professional sports teams to be responsible for, not 8. Tonight, in the NFL draft ( an event that will gain more viewership than the World Series or Stanley Cup Finals) the hometown Bills have the 3rd pick. And these guys are making light of the fact that they haven't really been paying attention to the draft. Bills are bad, I get that. The Draft is a crapshoot, I get that. The Sabres just lost a heartbreaking series 2 nights ago, I get that. But not following the draft when you host a show in Buffalo and you only have 2 teams to worry about is unacceptable, and acting like it's a chore to even talk football is so typical of these clowns.
  21. Phil simms was on Sirius Radio talking with Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan and was talking about this QB class. Here is what he said. The two bests Qb's in this class by far as Cam Newton and Ryan Mallet. He said Blaine Gabbert looks good in shorts, but on film, he watched every Missouri game and couldn't have been more underwhelmed. Said Christian Ponder and Andy Dalton on a good day have average NFL arms, and if you're Buffalo and you take 1 in round two, you're just hoping one day they can be as good as Ryan Fitzpatrick. He said you already have Fitzpatrick, why not aim higher and go for a guy like Mallet with the upside. Said the stuff about Mallet's character was overblown. Said he liked Kapernick as a 4th round developmental guy and about fell out of his chair when he heard a coach tell him he might go late 1. He basically said you can't overcome lack of talent, and the big armed QB's continue to play deep into January, and that Ponder and Dalton just don't have what it takes. Said if you take one of those guys early, you're basing it more on hope than what you see.
  22. Well, you could argue we have wasted picks on RB's (Lynch and McGahee, gone), Defensive Linemen (McCargo, Maybin) and O-Line (Mike Williams).......so I don't think you can isolate Qb as the reason why we're in the position we're in.
