  1. I'm with Kirby. When your QB, WRs, and O-Line are in the conversation for worst in the league, it's hard to imagine you have a winning season. They'd never say it, but I doubt Beane and McDermott are expecting playoffs this year either. This season is taking one step back to take two steps forwards towards being a consistent contender. I think we all know what Tyrod was. He was a below average passer, with above average athleticism, who protected the ball so well that we could beat bad teams with relative consistency and good teams if we got lucky. He was never going to be a QB that could consistently lead us past contender-level teams, so we needed to move on. The cap situation is such that we could only fix so many holes this offseason. That was made even worse by the unexpected departures of Incognito and Wood. It's no surprise that our defensive head coach fixed the defense first. That might be the right move because it will keep us in most games. The defense is set up for now and the future. We also, most importantly, acquired the biggest piece of our offense going forward. Next offseason our cap situation really frees up, and I expect us to spend rather liberally, addressing the offensive line and WR first and foremost, and adding a top shelf player with what is likely a top 15 pick in the first round. We might have had a chance of replicating last season with Wood and Incognito back, but with them gone any chance of that went out the window IMO. Maybe Groy can prove he's not just a good backup, maybe Teller can hop in right away and adequately replace Incognito, maybe the perennial train wreck that is the right side of our offensive line sorts itself out with our FA signings, maybe Zay Jones makes a jump forward towards being a legitimate #2, maybe Kelvin Benjamin stays healthy the whole season, maybe AJ McCarron is able to outdo Tyrod as a passer and protect the ball just as well, or maybe Josh Allen is an upgrade from day one. But that's a lot of freaking maybes and I don't like those odds. With that said, I expect us to be a well-coached, smart, disciplined team and our defense to be strong, so I don't expect the rails to come of. I think 6.5 over under sounds about right, with my call being 7-9.
  2. So, I think Josh Allen became a national target so to speak because of the conversation around Lamar Jackson. There is a large number of people who think the "Lamar Jackson is a WR" talk would never happen if he wasn't black and athletic (which I tend to agree with). Josh Allen was held up as kind of the antithesis to this in that some people think he would never be so highly thought of if he didn't look the part and have the arm he has (I disagree with this), and his accuracy became a running joke as part of this conversation. The racists tweets as a teenager probably didn't help either. I think this is why he's a target for people not even in our division, rightly or wrongly.
  3. Not yet. I won't get pumped up until the first report of Allen firing a ball into the merchandise tent at St. John Fisher!
  4. What? Isn't he saying the complete opposite? Allen has an accuracy problem much more than a ball-placement issue, and I categorize those weaknesses differently. Former Bills first-rounder EJ Manuel had a ball-placement issue, meaning the vast majority of his throws that were technically accurate enough for his receivers to make a catch were typically a little too high, too low, behind, or too out in front of their intended target. Allen will throw five strikes in a row with pinpoint accuracy, then launch a pass three yards over a wideout's head. That style is most manageable in a system with lower completion percentage expectations in the first place.
  5. I'd be surprised if Allen is never a 60%+ completion % guy, but that's just me. I understand the principal of the article though.
  6. That's a tough line. Vegas is good. 1. I expect our offense to be worse 2. I expect our defense to be significantly improved. 3. I expect us to be less lucky with FGs, penalties, and TOs. I think we will go 7-9 but could easily see 6-10 or 8-8/
  7. It doesn't really change my opinion based on what i saw on tape. Placement doesn't factor in how open is WRs are, their ability to get off the line, or his OLs ability block. His WRs didn't get open, period. They didn't get anything remotely resembling open. Look at what Oregon's DC said about playing Wyoming. It's much easier to process what's going on and make decisions when players are running open.
  8. I'm a big believer in analytics, but I do think there are exceptions and I think Josh Allen is one of those. Looking at the tape, I'm not convinced he is an inaccurate passer. The dearth of talent on his team is in my mind significant enough that it is an outlier vs. a majority of QB prospects. He consistently has good placement on 5-10 yard outs and slants. I don't think Brandon Beane and our coaching staff thinks he's an inaccurate passer on shorter passes.
  9. Could tackle like a LB but was bad in coverage imo
  10. It's kind of funny that the narrative is that Foster is pretty good but just didn't get much of an opportunity. Then he is picked up by his OC who you'd think would have been in a place to give him said opportunity.
  11. i don't like this information so i'm going to question it's validity
  12. Lincoln Station or Delilah's are the Bills bars. I'm not sure if either is hosting a draft viewing though. Edit: just saw on Lincoln Station's Facebook that they have a draft party starting at 6 CT
  13. Well if the Bills can get to 4, they can easily get to 2. There is almost no risk for the Giants to drop from 2 to 4 if they aren't interested in a QB. They should take anything they can get to do that.
  14. This is the first time i believe the rumors. She's really plugged into the Browns and would be able to discern when someone is blowing smoke
  15. Brandon Beane has straight up said he has talked to Connor McDermott about Josh Rosen. Interesting to see what McDermott has to say.
  16. I like Tony Romo as a Darnold comparison
