The Bills went down the tubes against top D's in part because of the line but in large part due to the fact that Bledsoe's limitations are limitless. -
I've seen what you'd do with it so why bother?

This morning I visited a parallel universe. Time was set back two weeks. Everything in the universe was the same except that the mayor of New Orleans ordered everyone evacuated from the city just before Katrina struck. He commandeered all of the school buses and loaded them up with all the people. He set them off down the highways. It looked like a good plan, but it went astray. Their was violence on many of the buses, particularly the ones that loaded up in poorer sections. Some were hijacked, and there were beatings rapes and murders. It was horrible. The mayor and many in the media blamed George Bush for not having helped plan so that people would be safe. They said that three days on a bus drove people crazy and the violence began. Defenders of Bush and others in the media blamed the mayor and governor who should have exerted more local control. All agreed that this tragedy was horrible and everyone would have been better off if they just stayed in the Superdome for a while. Everyone seemed to spend more time blaming and less time fixing. After that I decided to try a few more times. One time the storm shifted and destroyed many buses. One time the storm shifted away completely and everyone was mad that the governments panicked so much. Another time someone came up with a plan to quickly shore up the levees. That plan failed. Of the 4 million different scenarios all ended up differently. The one thing they had in common was the part I put in bold. Oh yeah, one time everything worked perfectly. In that one scenario, each part of the government took full credit for themselves.

Intelligent Design vs. Evolution

I think this is it: Linky Someone tell one of them robot thingies to simulate Martina McBride in my direction. I'll take it from there. -
Intelligent Design vs. Evolution
OGTEleven replied to Gavin in Va Beach's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Quite a while back (5 years?) I read a review of a book. I never read the book, although I meant to pick it up. If memory serves the book was called "Robot". The basic gist (jist?) of the book was that since humans are indeed developing thinking machines at an advancing rate, that it is inevitable that one day, the machines will be able to out think us. Once this occurs, they will begin to re-design themselves and so on...... The book then exapnds on that theory to say, that if this is in fact true, it is more than likely based on time, that this has all already occured and that our existence is in fact just a simulation being run in one of the machines that was derived from our original "creation". Therefore evolution, ID and all other theories are bunk, as are we. I'm trying to simulate the simulation program right now to see when the Bills are going to "win the Super Bowl". -
Intelligent Design vs. Evolution
OGTEleven replied to Gavin in Va Beach's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm not sure I understand. Check that.....I know I don't understand. Are you saying that Katrina proves evolution? Repudiates Intelligent design? Both? Neither? Simply because I see no connection whatsoever to that topic, my choice would have to be "neither". While I agree that ID should not be in schools (at least I think that is what you're saying). I don't think it calls humans the "intelligent designer" so that particular argument is weak. While I think there is plenty of evidence for evolution theory, I think that exactly 0% of it has anything to do with Katrina. -
Yup, that's proof all right. Since Darwin's theory looks more and more true, there is simply no way that life in general could have been created. Just a random assortment of molecules.

The blame game is what bugs me the most. NBC/CNN seem to be spending more time on explaining why this is all Bush's fault than covering the disaster. (BTW, this is one case where coverage could actually help. Communication is still weak and media reports can help authorities). I actually heard an NPR reporter state that when she asked a victim (still in NO) what was her feeling about the disaster that the answer was "I feel abandoned by the federal government". Not "I'm trying to survive" or "I'm wondering about family and/or other victims" or even "We need help now". The answer was specific to which branch of government had failed. That sounded pretty much made up to me. Republican radio says "this is tragic but all the Dem mayor and governor's fault" using very similar sound bites. Congresspeople and Senators are playing the same game. This depresses me because it displays that all of these groups care MUCH more about maintaining and gaining power than they do about the disaster itself. Maybe if they cared about the disaster more in the first place (before it happened, immediately after and now) there would be fewer problems to blame on others. BTW regular citizens like you and me are playing the same stupid game and this thread is evidence.

If you get 72 virgins it sounds like a lot. When you consider that you each one is only a virgin once and that you have to make them last an eternity, suddenly 72 seems like an inadequate number. These guys should get a better union.

And the solution to this problem is to implement worldwide socialism. It will solve all of our problems and provide us with endless forms of "green" energy. We can all skip merrily though the woods of shangri-la. How wonderful it will be. -
Last I heard about Price he had a serious eye condition. That may be all by the wayside by now. If not, he's done. I feel bad for him, but not too worried about what he'd do with NE.

Orton may turn out ok, but to me this was a case of the media running the show. Hutchinson looked bad against the Bills but the D was stifling. Orton looked good against much lesser personnel and schemes. I wonder what the stats would have looked like the other way around. Orton may develop and Hutchinson may deserve his fate, but Orton's eyes will get opened quickly in week 1 of the real thing. I did like the way the Bears D looked though. They will give some people tough games this year.

I heard the Bills can use a backup running back that explodes through the hole. Did I make the team?

Try calling the local newspaper in NC. If you're lucky someone will help you. Maybe they have an online archive, but I doubt it given the dates. -
I have a better plan: Who gives a crap? Better yet, who throws a crap?

Here is what I know about cold fusion in real life: Elizabeth Shue was in some movie with cold fusion as a backdrop. I had the choice of making jokes or watching that movie again to re-educate myself. I chose A. Sorry to offend
