Forget big WR's with the first pick, draft Eric Ebron
1billsfan replied to Proteus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right, Ebron isn't Vernon Davis because I think he is going to be better than Davis. Why? Because while the guy looks just as good skill wise, he comes across as a player with a much tougher "baller" style and a more driven personality. Davis is a very good TE, but he's not a great monster game changer like Graham. I think that Ebron's going to be a game changing NFL star. Once Watkins is off the board, I'm at a toss up with picking either Evans or Ebron. I might eventually lean to Ebron because he seems to have a real "baller" edge and style to him that this team seriously lacks, especially when it comes to the offense. Remember how many of those types we had in the Jim Kelly era? This team needs those kind of players. Just look at the last few 1st rounders...Manuel is low key, Gilmore is low key, Dareus is low key...I think I'm ready for a great player who's tightly wound, has a chip on his shoulder and isn't afraid to express it. -
Let's wait til the 2nd for a WR...

I think a bad draft scenario for the Bills is if Watkins and Evans are both gone before the #9 pick. They seem like great #1 receiver prospects. Now the question is, would you trade up for Watkins for a third round pick if that were a possibility? I'd be very tempted to do that. Because I think there's no way the Vikings don't trade back to a team that wants to jump ahead of the Bills to take Watkins. I see no way he lasts till #9. -

I think we all know that Stevie Johnson's replacement is coming in this draft because I see no way Johnson's still here in 2015 unless he blows it up it 2014. The question is how confident are the Bills in thinking that they can find that #1 target in the second round? Chances are that the answer is they're not that confident and that will be drafting either Watkins, Ebron, Evans or Benjamin with the outside chance a great player falls in their lap at another position that they don't pick a receiver. -
Don't be so sure. There are teams that could jump ahead of the Bills for the Vikings pick who would be more than happy to trade back a couple of spots when there are no QBs left worth drafting in the top ten. Teams that I could see trading with the Vikings to grab Evans ahead of the Bills are the Lions, Rams, Ravens and Jets. Now having said that, I have no problem with the Bills drafting either Ebron or Benjamin as the consolation prize. Also, I would have no problem with the Bills trading ahead of a team to draft Watkins if he started to fall. I'm thinking possibly with the Falcons for the Bills third round pick.

I was down on Evans, but I went back to the videos and I think he, like Watkins, looks like a real "baller". A passionate player who's NFL ready and not going to be afraid of defenders at the next level. I really think that one of these two guys will be a Bill. That is unless Manuel goes to bat for Benjamin's drive, dedication and passion for the game. Only then will Benjamin get a serious look. One thing you want with the #9 overall pick, a guy who loves the game of football and will do everything to become the best player they can be.

In 2013, TJ Graham played in Stevie's #1 WR slot this year with Stevie being moved to the slot receiver position and Woods playing in the #2 receiver position. There is nothing more important to the Bills than to make sure they do all they can to help EJ Manuel's attempt to transition into a franchise QB. This is why I am 90% sure the Bills are picking a replacement for TJ Graham at that starting #1 receiver spot. I think this priority would even overrule the "BPA" if it came down to it. Kind of like Seattle picking Bruce Irvin at #15 a couple of drafts ago.
-
No I don't. I think the Bills have a dire need to replace TJ Graham with real #1 WR. That is a huge missing ingredient for the offense. That's either Watkins, Evans or Benjamin IMO. I was off the Evans train, but I went back and watched his videos and he's a monster for CBs to handle. I was getting pumped for Benjamin but upon a second look, he isn't nearly as physical of a player. Evans looks like a "baller" with an attitude while Benjamin merely looks like a WR who plays well with a seriously gifted body size and ability. As for the TE/WR "hybrid" Ebron, I don't think he's as tall as he's being listed. He certainly doesn't look 6'4" on video. I want one of the other three WRs as our 1st round pick.

Our 7-Round DraftSim takes Offense
1billsfan replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm really looking forward too watching Benjamin at the combine. He's a guy that has the potential to shoot up NFL draft boards if he hasn't already. Out of everyone in this draft being discussed as a 1st round possibility, this guy has me most intrigued in that I see Megatron and Green potential when I watch his highlight videos. I see no way he gets past the Ravens at 17. -
I think that you "trade Stevie" guys are really living in a dream world. We can argue how good he is till the cows come home but the fact remains, and has been pointed out in this thread time and time again, that he simply is not nearly good enough for another NFL team to trade for his almost 9 million dollar a year salary. Even Stevie fans like me wouldn't trade for him at that salary. Yet we still get people here thinking that a team would trade for Stevie. As for Decker, he's not coming here because Stevie's going to be a Buffalo Bill in 2014 and again his salary is almost 9 million dollars. The Bills aren't laying down two huge contracts at WR.

QB turmoil possible in Buffalo
1billsfan replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I understand now. However, I think the Bills 1st round pick will eventually be Watkins, Ebron or Benjamin. I think they are going to give Manuel a fighting chance for success in his second year and that entails getting a top target. So having said that, I'm not sure after the 1st round any QB gives Manuel a run for his money. -

I'm pretty darn sure there were no QBs available that would have been any sort of competition to EJ Manuel. He was going to beat out Kolb who was considered one of the best FA QBs available at the time of his signing. Exactly who were you wanting them to bring in during the season? -

I find it ironic that someone on "instant response" social media like Twitter expects an NFL QB to be instantly great. Like he had better be great the first part of his second year or the situation is "off the rails and in a bad way"…LOL This is a big year for EJ no doubt. But he does get the WHOLE year! There could be turmoil or there could be a big time coronation of him being looked at as the franchise QB for the next decade depending on how Manuel plays this whole year. I can definitely see the Bills winning the weak AFC East if Manuel plays well. So it really can go either way. -
who thinks we will go OT in the 1st round
1billsfan replied to Braedenstearns's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't need Mike Mayock to tell me that Taylor Lewan is a psycho. I read the reports of all the alleged instances and to me it screams of local police covering up the tracks of a walking piece of you-know-what so as not to muddy up the name of the grand ol' Michigan program. The Bills aren't drafting him. -

Cam Newton didn't threaten a girl with rape. Cam Newton didn't violently assault an innocent person. Cam Newton didn't try to decapitate an opposing player on the field. If that's your idea of "very minor" then you need help. The Bills aren't drafting Taylor Lewan. Wow, wouldn't that be some press conference for the Buffalo Bills if they ever did... "Taylor, why did you threaten to rape a girl?" "Taylor, why did you punch that guy in the face totally unprovoked?" "Taylor, do you think you'll have an immediate target on you by the refs as a dirty player since that video shows you trying to rip someone's head off?" -

You wanted a link to Lewan's red flags and I provided you with one. Teams don't need charges or convictions to determine whether he's worth taking a risk on. You might as well cross Lewan off your list for the Bills because you generally don't see players with red flags taken with the #9 overall pick. That pick is way too valuable and there will be players with higher grades for the Bills to pick there anyways. -

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/The-red-flag-report-Taylor-Lewan.html It's just my opinion that teams high up in the draft like the Bills will not risk picking a guy with possible anger issues. I think he gets picked in the second half of the first round. -

1billsfan replied to Braedenstearns's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lewan has the red flag of being kind of a psycho. After what the Incognito situation has done to the Dolphins, neither the Bills nor any of the other top 15 teams picking in the draft are going anywhere near that guy in the 1st round. -
Do you honestly believe that another NFL team is going to trade for Stevie Johnson and his almost 9 million dollar a year contract? The probability of that happening is zero percent. Don't get fooled into believing fantasy scenarios cooked up by hack Bills reporters. Stevie's huge contract has been pointed out many times in this thread yet 7 pages later fans are discussing it like it still might happen.
-
Wow, Buffalo Bills reporters have certainly brought stupidity to a new level. There are 2 main reasons why Stevie will neither be traded nor cut... 1. No NFL team is trading for Stevie's almost 9 million a year contract 2. Cutting Stevie would create an unnecessary hole on the roster with a dead space cap hit of 8.475 million this year Yet this is still plausible for Bills reporters? Really?...LOL Stevie's not going anywhere and not only will he have a bounce back year, he's going to be the Bills' veteran WR that will help teach the young guys Woods, Goodwin and the WR they will probably pick this year in the draft.

who thinks we will go OT in the 1st round
1billsfan replied to Braedenstearns's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills top priority is going to be paring EJ Manuel with a solid number one target and I think that will be with the 1st round pick. The Bills have to have Manuel looking like a franchise QB in 2014 or the merry-go-round QB insanity starts all over again. Then we get into another change at head coach and yikes not again! So I think the Bills 1st round pick will be either Watkins, Ebron, Benjamin or Evans. Now I don't know if there will be a trade down scenario for the guys other than Watkins, but I think that if Watkins isn't there then it will be Ebron or a trade down attempt. I think they go OL in the second round. -
Draft: Donte Moncrief WR Ole Miss
1billsfan replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I totally understand that he could fall. However, my gut tells me a WR with his height, weight, ability and character is a package that will move him ahead of many of those 2nd tier guys on drafts boards. The Bills' WR position concerns me. The Bills don't have a #1 WR. TJ Graham was playing in that starter's spot held for the #1 WR on the team, but he's not even a starting level WR. I see Moncrief as having the ability of an eventual #1 WR on a team. My hope is that the Bills will be able to replace Graham with either Watkins, Benjamin or Moncrief in this coming draft. -
Draft: Donte Moncrief WR Ole Miss
1billsfan replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that this guy will be a lot higher on NFL team's draft boards than I've seen at some draft sites. After the Bills' season was over, I watched video of all of the top WRs and Moncrief looked like a better prospect than some of the WRs projected to go in the second like Matthews and Robinson. I think he ends up going in the later part of the second round. He looks like a very fluid runner, reminds me of how Jerry Rice ran. -
FanSpeak's "On The Clock" - Try Drafting
1billsfan replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I pretended to make a trade with the Browns which involved the Bills giving the #9 pick to the Browns for picks #26, #35, #83. It was close enough on the draft trade chart and if the Browns want to pair their new QB with a great WR like Watkins if he fell to #9, then I could see it happening. So then on a "Browns" simulator I picked Manziel for their first pick, then I made the picks and pieced together this Bills draft... Rd 1 / #26 WR KELVIN BENJAMIN / FLORIDA STATE Rd 2 / #35 G XAVIER SU’A-FILO / UCLA Rd 2 / #41 OT ANTONIO RICHARDSON / TENNESSEE Rd 3 / #73 TE TROY NIKLAS / NOTRE DAME Rd 3 / #83 ILB CHRISTIAN JONES / FLORIDA STATE This draft would be nuts IMO. -
EJ knee surgery, Tim Graham questions, draft QB?
1billsfan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are differences between ego, confidence and desire. As for the ego part, I wouldn't like it if EJ was not pissed at Graham who was clearly trying to insult him to his face with that specifically worded "first round QB" question. All NFL franchise QBs worth anything have an ego. Also, all NFL franchises their give rookie first round QB picks more than one year to become their franchise QB. The Buffalo News looks really bad having hired a "look at me" hack like Tim Graham IMO.
