  1. Well that'd be 8-12 more games than Mr. Bill Belichick got for cheating and bringing shame, skepticism and mistrust onto the NFL. For that reason alone, Goodell will forever be nothing but a nut-less wannabe to me.
  2. I'm sorry, but I think Aaron Schobel's overrated and someone who's not even one of the top twenty DE's in the league. Yes he's our best DE, but that isn't saying a whole lot. The guy was close to being a top ten DE a few years ago, but he's no where near that today. I never was really a big Shobel fan, I just think he always had a habit of disappearing for long of stretches of time.
  3. This board is in major denial with not even wanting to think about the truth that Donte Whinter's a huge bust. Usually a former top ten first round pick who performs like a mid round pick would get ripped to f'n sheds here. But for some strange and unknown reason, for the most part Whitner escapes the usual tough as nails TSW scrutiny. Yippee, he's a free safety now! As a former #8th pick, Whitner sucks and the Bills should try to see if they could scam another team's 2nd or 3rd round pick for him.
  4. I wish Dick Jauron would retire like Tony Dungy did earlier this year. His work is done, he's left his mark of mediocrity on the game that will never be matched. To be an NFL head coach that amasses a record of seven out of eight losing seasons is remarkable and will be a record that'll NEVER be broken. Here's to you Dick Jauron. Now please go and take a permanent vacation, you can even golf everyday if you wish. This way we're all winners. You can bask in your amazing achievements and we Bills fans can find that little place called "hope" that used to live in all of us put was sadly sucked out by your stay. You may be a great guy, but you're an unbelievably horrible head coach. Good bye and good luck Dick!
  5. As crazy as it sounds, after the San Diego game Edwards looked absolutely horrible when not playing the NFL's worst defenses in the Chiefs and Broncos. He also again lost time due to injury. It's been five years since they used a first rounder on a QB so maybe there is a "what if so and so is there" scenario where the Bills do pick a QB. I think many fans just plain forget what actually happened during the previous season. I was very disturbed by Trent's big decline last season because he was supposed to be "The Natural". This QB stuff came very easy to him. Well he was clearly heading in the opposite direction in 2008. As much as I think SKOOBY is a little crazy sometimes, I do think there's the small chance that the Bills could go QB if there's someone there that they really like.
  6. A Beanie and two babies? No thank you.
  7. Keep sailing the ship straight? The Bills' ship is rudderless. When a CBS analyst is actually telling the viewing audience that 100% of the time Trent calls out an audible, the play is a handoff to the RB up the gut, and that announcer is never proven wrong...well, maybe this helps explain Dick Jauron's approval rating. I foresee Jauron being given a Bernie Madoff-like reception at the conclusion of the final Bills home game this season.
  8. Agreed. When looking at the draft trade value chart, the #21 and #28 picks total 1460 points which is equivalent to between the #7th and #8th pick in any given draft. So the Bills would in fact be giving the Eagles their #11th pick (1250 points in value) AND Jason Peters for a draft pick worth around a #7 or #8 first round pick. The level of stupidity of that trade is off the charts. Tell the Eagles they can only have Jason Peters for both the #21 and #28. THAT is the only fair trade because an established, very young two time probowl left tackle is worth MORE than the 7th or 8th pick in any given draft. Let alone giving them the #11. If he doesn't end up getting traded then so be it. Rule #1, you don't make dumb trades...EVER. http://www.gbnreport.com/tradevaluetable.html
  9. A horrible start with a great finish and the Bills ending up with a 7-9 record and Dick Jauron keeps his job for 2010.
  10. Now THAT'S keeping it real.
  11. Yell at Tom, not me. He's the one who gave a seriously backhanded compliment at the guy. I was just spelling out that Modrack was pretty much saying he wasn't even "good" yet. Read that sentence again. As for his moves, they are debatable, we already had Greer (could have extended his contract after his great play in 2007) and Parrish for those duties and I thought that the Bills should have drafted Brandon Albert instead of McKelvin. The Bills like to make and fill holes while main issues like the offensive line are never rectified. Here's to hoping that McKelvin will more than makeup for our sh!tty line play. Unlike Whitner, at least he showed us some serious skills.
  12. Why do you feel the need to sugar coat everything that comes out of the Bills organization? Buffalo's top scouting guy, Tom Modrack, stated that Russ "wants to be good" and "keeps working at it" with "it" meaning being good. There's no need to try to make yourself feel good that the head of Buffalo's personnel department hasn't yet reached the level of being "good" at his job. I agree with BillsNYC that the comment had a disturbing (yet not surprising) undertone to it.
  13. If Josh Freeman were to be looked at as a prospect with a very good chance at being a top NFL QB, then the Bills should definitely not trade with the Jets who are in their division. That extra second round pick will look like chump change if that ends up being the case. Any other position, then yes. To give the Jets the chance to pick their star QB of the future? No way. Now if Josh Freeman is really something else (Ryan, Flacco, Cutler), the Bills should at least "consider" picking him and trading Edwards for a second rounder (guaranteed he'd get that). Now I know there's no chance of the Bills doing this, but I do like to keep an open mind for different draft strategies. In regards to Trent, I was so bummed out by his serious decline last season. His only two good performances after his impressive San Diego game was against the Chiefs and the Broncos, two of the worst defenses in the league. The other six games he pretty much sucked in and was a main reason why we lost. This was surprising since it looked like it all came so easy for Trent Edwards in his first season. Has the NFL figured him out? Will he ever go through a complete season without getting injured and missing games? There are still questions regarding Edwards. Josh Freeman's size, mobility and arm strength are at least intriguing.
  14. I love this post. It's a reminder to everyone that over half of the first rounders we are all discussing and arguing over are going to be busts in the vein that they'll become average to below average NFLers that should have been never been ranked as first rounders. It's like we're arguing over funny money. It's so weird when a DE prospect like Maybin is being considered as a top fifteen pick when the guy weighed 230 lbs a few months ago. Especially after OU's Gholston flamed out so badly for the Jets. So in conclusion, I agree with the Madden game and think that Ayers is the much better prospect.
  15. In the spirit of fairness, niceness and classiness, I see Dick Jauron as someone who thinks blitzing a guy coming off such a bad knee injury wouldn't be considered fair play, wouldn't be nice and wouldn't be classy. So no, I don't see them blitzing Brady that day.
  16. It's one of the reasons, not excuses, for their dismal play in cold weather. I see your comment as enabling this head coach to continue with his losing pattern of illogical decision-making. If the fans and media harp on it enough, maybe either the owner or Jauron may be embarrassed enough to admit the head coach has been a fool, stop coddling the players and make them practice outside in an attempt to improve their play on Sundays in November, December and hopefully January.
  17. The Bills have looked like a damn dome team in bad weather ever since Dick Jauron took over. You're ok with them practicing indooors at 70 degrees even though this is a team that plays outside in Buffalo, NY in the winter? You do realize that the Patriots practice outside, don't you? While they have better players, do you think Jauron's practicing method is better than Belichick's practicing method? It's not an excuse, it's basic common sense for a team that plays football in Buffalo should be practicing outside. Hence the reason why your buddy Jauron doesn't do it (well there's that and the reason that he'd rather have his players love him than become winners).
  18. Going 0 for 6 in the division and losing at home to bad teams like the Browns and the 49ers will do that. It's been painful to watch this team play football for the last three years. Yet I'm still looking forward to either seeing a miracle happen in Orchard Park in 2009 or for the long wait when real hope is restored in 2010 when they fire Jauron and hire a guy that knows what he's doing. Miracles can happen and there's always a silver lining if they don't, see I can be upbeat!
  19. Factoring in how damn easy their schedule was last year and that they still ended up with a 7-9 record, then looking at the teams on their schedule this year, I unfortunately see a 5-11 record in 2009. If they had a very good coach like Gruden or Shanahan, then I'd bet they'd get to at least a 9-7, maybe even 10-6. That's how much Jauron's coaching is sinking this team like it's tied to an anchor.
  20. This is what you get when you hire (and foolishly retain) Dick Jauron as head coach of your team. No passion, players who are told that "trying hard" is good enough, a team that plays in Buffalo yet doesn't practice outside when the weather turns cold. Other than Marshawn Lynch, it's no wonder that even their "star" players appear to be much too soft for this game. "Circling the wagons" and "winning" are down the list of priorities behind ""controlling the ball", "not making mistakes" and "trying hard". They like to win, they just don't think it's as important anymore and if they do think it's important then they certainly haven't shown any evidence on the field, on the sideline or in post game interviews. Frankly, I think that this current team is a sad and pathetic excuse for a football team and it sickens me that this is what's representing the present day Buffalo Bills.
  21. This is seriously a brilliant post. It's nice to have fans here that will give an honest assessment of this once prideful team. To me, I see Dick Jauron's coaching style as everything the Buffalo Bills should never be. This is why I am so angry about this man coming back. I just feel like my team has been kidnapped by a man who's core principle is to drain all the fun, passion and excitement out of this team and game that I love so much. Welcome to the board and thank you for this post man.
  22. How much opium was Pete doing when he thought of this plan? I swear I was starting to hear the beginning of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" when I was reading this. "Sudden Death", keep it the way it's always been so as not to ruin George Carlin's all-time classic Baseball vs Football routine.
  23. and that's a bad thing?
  24. Well as much as we'd like, we can't have everything. Drafting a tight end at the expense of letting Tom Brady just sit back there all day long tossing the football to Moss, Welker and his RBs is pure foolishness to me. Drafting a DE like Ayers will have a much greater impact on beating a team like the Pats than grabbing the TE Pettigrew would. There's only one ball to go around and I want Trent dispersing healthy doses of thrown footballs to Owens, Evans, Lynch and Jackson. Trent checks down too much as it is, I could only imagine the check down bonanza going on if he had Pettigrew to throw to. Besides, I liked what I saw in Fine when he finally got healthy, he seemed plenty athletic and has a chance to be the Bills' "poor man's" version of a Dallas Clark. I'll take that. Yes, it would be great to have Pettigrew. But you need to put out the fire before you can fix the plumbing in the house (with the Bills' worst pass rush in the NFL equalling blazing fire in my metaphor). Why do I get the feeling that Hangartner is "Fowler II". Backup center signed by the Bills to start...oh crap. I have no faith in the Hangartner pickup and just hope that he's everything they say he is.
  25. I think the Bills' NUMBER ONE goal is to find a pass rush. I know that it was over a year ago, but I keep going back to what the Giants did to Tom Brady and the Patriots high flying 18-0 machine in that Superbowl. So many people forget and I feel that I need to remind them. The Giants made the "unstoppable" Patriots look rather ordinary on the NFL's biggest stage and the number one reason was their pass rush nailing and pressuring Brady all game long. Yes they did score over 20 points, but if their defense did not rush Brady like that they would have gotten their fourth title going away. They kept it close for Manning and Co. to pull off the miracle. Now look at what the Bills have for a pass rush... a broken down Aaron Schobel and a worthless pass rusher in Chris Kelsay. I'd consider it front office malpractice for the Bills to draft a tight end, and not a DE, in the first round. There's a set of priorities and tight end is a luxury pick behind getting getting the pass rusher, center, guard and an outside linebacker. They need to make the Patriots fear the Bills pass rush and they need to start opening holes for Marshawn before his body breaks down in about two years time.
