Do We Have a Better Team Now than at the End of 2008 ?
BuffOrange replied to Kenwick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem is we can be better and still not sniff 8 wins. The difference between the two West divisions and the two Souths is quite dramatic. -
So, why can't the Bills make the playoffs?
BuffOrange replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, big difference between the two West divisions (last year) and the two Souths (this year). Granted our division foes have the same problem (Miami will come back to earth this year) but there's still that team we haven't beaten in six years who finished 4 games better with their backup QB with a tougher schedule than ours last year. As far as the negative media is concerned, if you're keeping score the last nine years it's: Negative media - 9 TBD homers - 0 I suppose the latter has to be right one of these years. -
Does Eli Manning Deserve To Be The Highest Paid QB...
BuffOrange replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair enough. Like Steely Dan said having a slightly above average QB is more valuable than most think. I do think anyone who insists Romo is a choke-artist should watch the Giants playoff game on NFL Network next time it's on. The guy was running for his life the whole 4th Qtr, his only int was a 4th down desperation heave at the end of the game, and Patrick Crayton dropped two gimmes that probably would've won the game. Both Eli and his brother have multipe far-worse playoff performances on their resume. But I guess that's the price you play for being a Dallas QB. -
What team will come out of nowhere next year?
BuffOrange replied to grammer_police's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree on both accounts. Cincy's D actually wasn't terrible last year so if Palmer is healthy that's not a bad nomination (I don't think Coles is a huge downgrade from Housh). Neither is GB who by most metrics was one of the unluckiest teams in football last year (they destroyed some good teams and lost some tough games they should've won including one @Tennessee). -

BuffOrange replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fantasy numbers, while a dumb measuring stick by themselves, are still a better tool than "who wins". I'd take all those guys over Eli except Cassel, and maybe Hasselbeck/McNabb due to their age. -
Attn: soccer fans (just wait 'til next year!)
BuffOrange replied to Cugalabanza's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Well to my untrained eyes it is tempting to blame prevent defense. But my superior soccer-knowledge friends are saying Brazil is just that much better. They're probably right - it's not like we dominated the 1st half even. Will FIFA find a way to inexplicably seed us lower than Mexico for the World Cup again? Oh well, good performance overall. Plus it's only soccer. Boy do I wish I could shrug of Bills losses like that! -
The decade's 25 most overrated players
BuffOrange replied to TheLynchTrain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yah the Vikings would've won if he made that kick but him being the goat of that game still required the parlay of the defense giving up the game-tying TD and then losing in OT (where he didn't have the opportunity to kick the game-winner). Where as if the Panthers kicker didn't give NE the ball on the 40 yard line they potentially force OT and win and Vinatieri is one of the goats of that game. I think that was Gary Anderson btw. Steve Christie seems like a good example of a kicker who was both good and "clutch". He'll of course never sniff the HOF. -
I used to love Simmons. I'm not sure if he's changed since he's become more mainstream or if I've just grown tired of his Boston slant; but he's still a good read if you don't take him too seriously. It's not surprising that he knows NBA history.

Saw this on youtube. God it is funny. Artie said afterwords that the producers told him to liven it up if it gets boring. Even for somebody as non-PC as myself who doesn't like Buck he stepped out of bounds. But who cares - it's Joe Buck. You guys who "don't see what the fuss was about" or assume "it was all an act" are kidding yourselves. JB was clearly not expecting that and no, it's not going to help his show.

The magazines are already out regurgitating the previous year's standings as they always do. My only prediction right now is that NE wins the thing going away and Miami will be last. Parcells long-term knows what he's doing, but I see it as a "Patriots circa 1995" year for them where they take a big step backwards because they overachieved so much in year 1. I do admire Crowder's bragging of "defending division champs" when they got their ass kicked by Cassell and the Pats on their own field in the most recent meeting and finished 1st via some arbitrary tiebreaker though.

Things you hate in a football broadcast.
BuffOrange replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No two people ever agree on which announcers are good. I like Simms when he does radio spots because he's much more candid and opinionated. During games he doesn't criticize anyone. Wilcotts is just bleh and Cross obviously sucks. I like Collinsworth because he speaks his mind but doesn't do it just for the sake of being controversial. Regardless of how much of a geek he looks like, he could still ball in his day but yet he wasn't a big enough star to have everything handed to him in his broadcasting career. I think what I hate most is guys who don't understand clock situations. I mean when there's 2 minutes left and you have the ball on your opponent's 30, the offensive team isn't going to run out of time; so stop talking about the clock and start talking about the down&distance. Also, don't say "that's going to draw a flag every time" when it only draws a flag half the time. -
The decade's 25 most overrated players
BuffOrange replied to TheLynchTrain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. Vinatieri absolutely belongs on the list because he's going to the HOF when he doesn't deserve it. Good for him on being clutch and all, but he's also the only kicker in history to have the opportunity to be that clutch in multiple SB's (both in a dome when the game was tied no less). Plus he wouldn't have needed to win the Carolina game if he didn't miss two chip-shots earlier - but who wants to remember that? The Oakland kick was money - I'll give him that. No doubt if these guys wrote an article post-98 stating how Moulds had the best year of any WR (including the more publicized rookie sensation that was Randy Moss) - it would receive a more positive reception than we're seeing in this thread. Though I sorta agree with the comments that EM was never thought of as a big enough star to make this list. -
Finally, the Bills are Addressing the Lines
BuffOrange replied to StupidNation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not sure if an edge rusher really qualifies as a non-glamour ugly guy position. But sure, these were big positions of need and neither appeared to have been a reach so I can't complain. -
Yah I was talking more to others than you. "ZOMG how does he have a job with getting the Chiefs pick wrong".
-
I don't get why people care how often Kiper/Mayock are correct in predicting which teams take who. Their predictions on the actual players I can see discussing...
-
Yah I think that is a bad trade by Cleveland. OK players is being generous. Basically they gave up a 2nd round pick to move up a ways.
-
You're complaining about somebody being opinionated and yet ML's single Oakland upbringing is part of your relevant lists of facts.
-
Maybe a punt catcher to replace Parrish after he's traded for 6th round pick?
-
Now what do we do in the draft?
BuffOrange replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Take the best player who isn't a RB, WR, or DB in every round. -
Sources: Peters to Eagles for three picks

Do we get a reach-around? -
What a joke. This franchise officially sucks.

I heard he steals shopping carts from old ladies.

Boy ESPN really is a tabloid these days... It was reported by the Post Standard on Monday that he had an agent; and they appear to have reneged today, which is great news (doesn't mean he's staying of course). And I'm not sure of the distinction between syracuse.com and the Post Standard.

Very.

Great collection of Bills highlights
BuffOrange replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've wanted to see some of the old playoffs games besides Houston for the longest time, thanks.
