  1. Are you kidding?

Who were their corners last year? Yet, they were the #6 defense in yards allowed.

Fitzpatrick over geno any day. Look out! They are going to compete.

Dont look now but their defensively leader....Rex Ryan is no longer there nor their DC for that 6th ranked defense......replaced by a absolute unknown as a HC

  2. Fun fact: Fred has less career carries than McCoy.

As I mentioned before, don't be so shocked to see Fred emerge as the more effective back this upcoming season. He may not lead in yards, but that's because McCoy will have a long rope. But I do think FJ will have a better average and many of us will be screaming for him to get more of the workload halfway through the season. I know it sounds unfathomable to most when you look at what McCoy's production has been like throughout his career, but as stated above, a running back is very dependent on coaching and blocking. I wonder how Fred would have done on Philly the last 5 years.

You are not going to have fans screaming for more Fred with Gerald fricken McCoy carrying the rock........

What you will have is fans rooting for Fred to stay healthy this year and perhaps partake in a bills playoff season.....which Fred Jackson totally deserves

  3. From the B-News article by Carucci today, a quote by Whaley:

“And that’s our goal, that’s our philosophy, to have those guys in for two or three years, have them on special teams and add depth. And when their number’s called, they’ve been in the system for a while and they’ll have less propensity to make mistakes.”

Keep in mind that Duke Williams didnt play immediately either

He is set to be a big part of this years defense

  4. There's just so much hyperbole in the way you defend EJ that it's so difficult to even respond to.

Marrone likely told EJ to protect the ball, don't force things and try not to get hit when you run. Why are you vilifying a guy doing what probably every modern day coach tells his young and developing QB to do. So Rex let Smith air it out and look what it resulted in. If anything one could argue that it was actually a detriment to his development.

I'm sensing a theme where people tend to blame EJ's misfortunes on everyone else. You think Marrone coached EJ to be inaccurate? Maybe, the guy coached him to avoid throwing down field because he's shown he's not good at it and he was trying to hide his glaring weaknesses. Or is that kind of thinking not allowed? Does EJ not have instincts that he plays with or is everyovent and decision an instruction from Marrone?

See I actually agree with this....

I think EJ was doing exactly what he was told to do....I will give him the benefit of the doubt on that because it looked like ALL of our QBs eventually started doing that because that was what they were COACHED to do.....every single one of them losing that swagger as time went along.

So to me this gives EJ a clean slate.....not the starting job.....but a "ok.....the old boss is gone and everyone is at square 1 so show me" situation.

EJ will either do that or he wont......it would be in everyones best interests if he actually did.

Cassel isnt going anywhere....especiallly if the talk of extending his contract is true.....in the best possible scenario EJ takes that bull by the horns......and we have a viable backup qb in Cassel if EJ goes down.......

    imo

  5. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

    Imo

    Leroi,

At this point I really do wonder who you are......you appear to be close to the situation but you have beef with EJ Manuel to the point where it has skewed some of your information (I do hope that you keep giving it)

I think that EJ Manuel is gonna get one last chance to show he is a NFL QB......regardless of whether you think he will be successful EJ turning around and putting it together is the BEST thing that could happen for this team.

  6. This is hysterical hyperbole. No one here "hates" the guy. Grow up a little.

I dont think it is so much that anyone "hates" him......as it is they want a quality starting QB for their team.......

When the QB doesnt produce.....people get upset. So many things factor into that......but the average fan doesnt want to think about those things.....just success

    Which is ok

  7. What I want to see is if my theory on EJ is correct and that he needed to sit behind a vet for a while with the pressure off.......

He did that when he was benched for Orton......gave EJ the chance to hold a clipboard, watch a veteran work, and work on his game

    Lets see.....lets just see

  8.

"Playoff Sleeper" is just a way of saying "We want to be able to say 'I told you so' if they make the post-season, without being held accountable if they don't."

And anyone who says that EJ Manuel was showing progression before Hackett came on board is brainless. Hackett's the only OC Manuel's ever had.

That is not what I meant Tom

I know that Hackett is the only OC....what I am saying is that EJ Manuel (and every other QB under Hackett) played progressively worse as time went on.

The Bills did nothing to help the OL last season...it clearly never improved.

I kind of feel sorry for Spiller at the end......1 yard and a pile of dust

Maybe they shouldnt have been running him between the OT's which is clearly not his strength

  9. The bottom line is there are still a lot of unknowns......

In all honesty....these are the BEST things that could happen for us this year.......it does not require ALL of these things to happen.....but if a good portion of them did this team is gonna be on the map:

    - EJ Manuel.....shows that the original plan that the bills had was actually a good one when Kevin Kolb was brought in and disaster happened.......but now EJ got the time he needed to hold a clipboard behind Kyle Orton.....and continues progression that he actually DID show before Hackett came in and screwed it all up. He regains his ability to scramble out of trouble......he improves as a QB going through his progressions and the starts throwing receivers open. Matt Cassel puts up a good fight in camp but in the end EJ is just too good to keep on the bench.

    - Shady starts....and Freddie gives us enough in relief to form a very good combo running the ball.

    - Kujo shows that his first year was a fluke.....that he actually does NFL ability so much so that he is moved to RG.......and he and Sentrell Henderson (who also improves in his second year form a young dom combo on the right side......Glenn and Cog solidify the Left side.....and Wood regains his form because he isnt having to worry about inferior players lining up next to him screwing it all up.

    - Clay comes in and shows why he was the prize offseason posession. He shows that he is the best TE that the bills have had since the K gun and his ability to both block and catch keeps our offense unpredictable.

    - Sammy Watkins comes into the season healthy.....and shows why he was considered the special WR that comes along every once in so many years

    - Percy Harvin as Pegula's adopted son finds a home......and is dynamic for us

    - The D does what it has been doing.
