  1. You just have to be smart about who you give that cash to. As the Redskins and Dolphins have shown, just going after big names for the sake of it is not the best approach. I trust Whaley and his team and Overdorf to formulate an exact plan and do their best to execute it. Sometimes that includes a big name or two sometimes it doesn't.

    This is correct

Its a good thing they gave it to the right guys

  2. I think my biggest problem is I flat out no nothing about these qbs.......

fans that watch players dont really know all the situations.......that is why NFL talent evaluators have jobs....

I know this.....one thing that El Pegula has done this year is spend a TON on coaches and talent scouts. They seriously have their stuff together this year......

If they like one of these qbs....I will trust their judgement.

I just hope that they have a plan for O line if they end up taking a QB in the 2nd round

  3. With all due respect (and I can prove it if you like), I posted a comment I heard from a Denver radio station about Orton before he started a game for us. He said that Orton moves the ball well between the 20s but struggled mightily to score tds. And minus the Jets games, that's what he did.

The reason guys like Orton, Cassel, & Fitz bounce around is because they aren't good enough to be starters but can be good spot starters. You are severely limited in what Your ceiling is. Cassel will have a good game, people will talk him up and want to give him an extension. Then when he finished below average like most of his career suggests, we will be like why did we start Matt Cassel?

I'd always rather go with the young guy over the passed around veteran. I really think it will be hard for any qb to screw up this team. As bad as people make EJ out to be, if the defense held onto 2 leads his rookie year (Ne and ATL), he has a winning NFL record.

I will have a soft spot for Fitz. If Jay Cutler had Fitz' attitude, he'd be q franchise qb. But you will always be severely limited with these guys. At this point in their careers, they are what they are. And that's not good enough.

C I just want to make sure I am understanding the argument you are trying to fight here.....

Are you saying that wide receivers were NOT dropping Orton passes?

You cannot "minus games".....all the games count just like every QB

I want to point out that I am not singing Orton's praises....he seemed to play well at the start and was showing a "clutch" factor that this team is missing.....then all of a sudden it looked like he went into "I dont give a crap" mode.....then retired

But for those first 3 games when Orton came in....I thought we actually had a NFL quarterback

  4. the OL school he is attending has made huge improvements for past players that have attended it. Looking forward to seeing how he develops this year

    Much like EJ Manuel

It is in the best interests of the team that Kujo turns things around and moves forward with a great career.......

Free agents are expensive........draft picks lesser so.........you biuld a great team by drafting great

  5. Um, that's Orton. Then he becomes the average at best journeyman for the rest of the season as he has been his whole career.

I don't doubt Cassel could have a good game or 2. But then he will become the Matt Cassel who is on his 4th team.

Side note, how good were Orton's first 3 weeks? We barely score a td against Det and our offense sucked most of the game against Minnesota.

    C

That is a bit of revisionist history.....Orton was putting the ball on recievers in those games and they were dropping them......

The running game was pretty much putrid all year

  6. Fitz and I don't think it's close. Cassel hasn't had a good season in 5 years. Fitz, as flawed as he is, has looked like a much more passable qb than Cassel the last 4 seasons.

Cassel = Orton. Fitz is probably equal to then but I give him the edge because he is a warrior and gets every ounce of physical talent out of himself.

I can live with a Orton type qb if it is the ortion of the first 3 weeks he was here

  7.

Thus, Whaley's greatest weakness as GM. He will stubbornly, and to the determent of the team if necessary, force feed his pet acquisitions upon the coach and roster to stroke his ego. Fortunately for us fans, he has an owner who isn't shy about smacking him down and ordering him to the corner with a dunce cap when necessary.

Clearly, Rex today showed he agrees with the Fans and Pegula regarding Freddy and Bryce. For Whaley, it's deja vu as once again he is reduced to carrying the water for a coach and owner who won't hesitate to override him publicly regarding personnel when necessary.

Do you honestly believe your own bs?

  8. They have over $4M in cap space now and can free up another $3M by designating Chris Williams as a post June 1 cut. Mathis' cap hit is less than $5M currently. If the Bills want him they will have zero problem fitting him into the cap.

I get what he is saying though....when you trade for a player he is yours.....you dont have to outbid anyone else for him financially.

I would toss them a low round pick.....our low rounders are not going to make the team anyway.
