  1. Yeah, thats the last time they won.Marv Levy always said, "you cant win with stupid players".

Not at all.I just expect paid BIlls managers to be smart enough to see through it.I know most fans are clueless but the brass shouldnt be

You have obviously never played on a O or D line at any level of football

It aint for the meek boy

Yeah, there was no social media around then.LOL Go ahead and spread your rumours about Jim ,Andre and Bruce. You sir are and idiot. You better be very careful as well. The folks your targeting with your vicious slander might be able to afford a lawyer .Worst of all Jim and his family don't need your crap either after what he just has been through.

No....that @hit actually happened......I know people that have seen Jim Kelly's antics first hand.....and they themselves fessed up to it later on in life

  2. Not disagreeing with that, but in this case, the coach is the boss, so he gets to make that call.

yeah im not necessarily dissagreeing with you dork

I kinda see both sides of this......perhaps McCoy considered himself a city of brotherly love player through and through given how much he has done for the team and frankly felt he deserved more then to be treated like just another player.......

In the end....he is here now......and I would like to see Shady just go out and let his performance do the talking for him

  3.

blah blah blah is how you make your best arguments.

I don't think he "sucks and always will"--never said that (I think you know this, but I may be giving you too much credit). I have made my points, given the facts that support them and, I believe, refute the points others have made. That's how this works. Feel free to disagree, but do so with a cogent discussion.

    WEO

Exactly what facts have you given? If you consider the what the jets record was as your "facts" it is a using a broadsword where a scalpel should be used to try to figure out what happened between the 2 AFC championship runs and the droubt

    - Rex Ryan did not all of a sudden become a bad coach

    - I am quite sure that he did contribute to some of it

Not sure what you are trying to say here. As I said earlier, Rex is an improvement on what we had before. I just don't see him as the Messiah like some posters do. I am hopeful however and looking forward to see some positive results.

Are their really coaches that are "messiahs"?

It is a combonation of knowing what your doing.....knowing how to hire good assistants....and having a organization that is willing to get you what you need

Rex Ryan falls in love with garbage QB's and hires garbage OC's. As long as he does neither of those things here, he'll be fine.

Or perhaps he works with the QBs he is given?

As far as hiring garbage OC's......perhaps this is one of the things he has learned for his second stint

  4. He needs to improve at accuracy? Pocket presence? Decision making? Health?

    That stuff isn't even important!

He's just waiting to bust out...and I think he just needs more time.

Give him 5 or 6 more seasons. The doubters will be begin to believe!

I would just like to see him come out and throw it with some decisiveness.......if he throws ints.....so be it!

    Go down swinging EJ

  5. They liked him well enough to bring him in with a "show me" contract. I don't get all warm and fuzzy about any coach saying anything positive about a player on their team unless it is quantifiable. Honestly, what else are they going to say about him? The quantifiable part is 8 games, 29 receptions, 350 yards and 1 touchdown with the Jets. If I'm Rex I'm not thrilled with that production rate or his injury history, but I'd be happy to talk him up because he does have talent and because he can help the team if he lives up to that, stays healthy and feels like playing. Oh, right, that "hard worker" thing you mentioned. Did that label apply when he repeatedly benched himself when he was with Seattle? Those are just more empty words when compared with his history. Hope that answered your question. Now answer mine: What makes you think it'll all be so different with him this time around?

The bottom line is you either believe in our teams management when it comes to players or you dont......

    Simple as that

  6.

He got the best out of his guys? He took that team from 2 AFCC games to 8-8 and 6-10.

Again, that same QB was on the roster in the AFCC games as well as the subsequent 2 non winning seasons.

Rex's fatal flaw is that he is horrible at picking OC's.

Like what? Ryan walked into a pretty good situation when the Jets hired him. Idzik, who is blamed for everything here, showed up for season 5.

How do we not know that the GM-HC problem didnt extend before Idzik?

And I agree with you that Ryan's problem has been his hiring of his OC's.....but I think he got it right on this one. IMO he follows the line of HC's that failed at their first stop...but found success at their second after they learned what not to do.

  7. The other what-if thread (promoting Pettine to HC) got me wondering if people would feel any differently if, after Marrone quit, we elevated Schwartz to HC and it was he who recruited and hired Roman as the OC.

Would people here feel much differently? Is there more confidence or support for Rex as HC vs. Schwartz, given the same OC?

On the one hand, there is the continuity on defense (Schwartz), while on the other, there is the track record and creativity on defense, plus the allure and personality (Rex).

None of this matters, of course, I'm just curious. For the record, I'm totally on board with the Rex hire.

How do we know Greg Roman would have WANTED to come here without Rex. They go way back

  8. Its going to be an interesting season...here are some things to consider I see coming up all year:

    1. Watkins, Woods, Clay, Harvin will all have a great impact on the success of this offense if healthy, but the stats wont reflect nearly the same impact. There is only one football to go around, and in a run first offense, those 4 guys will be inconsistent in terms of the stat sheet because we have so many play makers and any one of them is capable of a big week. So, while I believe Harvin can be explosive, I don't know if statistically it will come close to his most productive year simply because of how much the ball is likely to be spread around.

    2. Harvin has to stay healthy. His ability speaks for itself, but its inability to stay on the field. The good news is with how many weapons we have, that may help him stay healthier as the ball is spread around more.

    3. McCoy is most likely going to be a sizeable factor receiving the ball as well, taking receptions away from our talented foursome of Watkins, Woods, Harvin, and Clay.

    4. I expect the "We should have taken OBJ" nonsense to not only continue and be fueled by the difference in stats of the people who only check stat sheets...all the while completely ignoring the fact that Sammy is going to be on a run first team with one of the most talented roster of offensive weapons in football to spread the ball around to while OBJ is going to be the focal point of his offense.

    5. People are going to complain about Clays stats versus his contract all year because he is likely going to be inconsistent statistically again given the talent of the skill players and a run first offense...again ignoring what his real impact is and how he creates mismatches and opportunities for our 3 WRs and our Run Game.

I think winning will silence some of the detractors on Watkins and Clay
