  1. Of course that's true. But ESPN reported Sunday he's making calls to line up a staff, and four years out of the league is a long time. I can't think of any coaches off the top of my head who took that much time and came back as the guy to get.
  2. I think Butler's injury rep is overblown. This was the first time he was lost for the season, and that was because his knees were rolled up on from behind. Last year, he missed three games (BTW, we lost all three) and in 2007, he started all 16.
  3. Hey, we know what we are. The Bills have to be one of the least attractive jobs in football. The thing is, when news of Cowher rebuffing the Bills first came out, there were a lot more attractive positions in play. Now, according to ESPN today, there might be openings in Jacksonville and Seattle, and before Tampa Bay beat the Saints, they were being talked about. And that seems to be it. Are the Bills really less attractive right now than Jacksonville and Seattle? Please be candid.

  5. A month ago, Brad Childress inked a four-year extension believed to be worth $4-5 million a year. His team was 8-1 and a Superbowl favorite. Since, they're 3-3 and need help to get a bye. A quick playoff exit will probably leave Favre to do his retirement dance again, the Vikings will slip back to mediocrity, and the Vikings will be left wondering why they couldn't wait until after the season to extend Childress.
  6. Hey Tim, Now that it looks like there won't be job openings in Carolina, Houston, Chicago or Dallas, any chance Cowher will reconsider? Or even talk to the Bills? There doesn't seem to be any great opportunities out there. Edit: Based on this Chris Brown post, saying that Cowher is taking the same position with the Bucs as he took with the Bills, is there any reason to think the Bills are out of the running?
  7. Those numbers already factor in Week 16 opponents. Browns are 1.5 point favorites and have won three in a row. Game's in Cleveland, and I don't see a team from Florida that motivated to play in the cold.
  8. So the option are Tampa, who just beat New Orleans with a first-year coach, Houston, which is not expected to fire Kubiak, and then maybe Jacksonville and Seattle? Not very pretty.
  9. Looking at the SOS, it's funny how much the Dolphins-Steelers game means in terms of us catching the Browns. An extrapolation of what the SOS numbers mean: Raiders opponents are 125-117. Bills opponents are 124-116. Browns opponents are 121-119. Redskins opponents are 120-120.
  10. Anybody want to give us what Cowher's three options are? http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/ru...s%2frumors#3681
  11. Hardly acceptable. I will only accept a head coach that has won a Superbowl with multiple teams.
  12. What if they bring in a real GM, who then decides to hire Haslett or Nolan?
  13. Just got even more interesting: http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...ach-suspension/
  14. According to the PFT post: Smith has shown promise when given the chance to play and was likely to open the 2008 as the Ravens starter over Joe Flacco if not for being sidelined by a rare form of tonsillitis.
  15. Right. It could be our next Chris Ellis. Or Trent Edwards. Or Ashton Youboty. Or (Dare I? Dare I?) Tim Anderson. I think half the board believes you can find them in Aisle 12 at Walmart.
  16. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...-trade-request/ I know some on the board expressed interest in him in other threads. Some thoughts: He probably wouldn't cost more than a 3rd, as opposed to other promising young back-ups, such as Dennis Dixon or Kevin Kolb, since Baltimore already has a viable #2 QB on their roster and has publicly made himself available. I haven't seen any of his games myself, but people have been impressed with his play. Drew Brees has quieted a lot of concern about QBs that are only 6'. Thoughts?
  17. At the very least, it says the Packers didn't bother/weren't able to trade him, and 31 other teams didn't make a move to get him for ten weeks.
  18. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/story/902527.html That's a list after Week 15, but with the opponents through the end of the season added. So, it's unlikely to change that much.
  19. Jason Taylor returned a 2nd round pick in 2008 when he was a year older and had a very similar stat line (56 tackles, 11 sacks, 4 PD, 4 FFs, and 1 INT returned for a TD; Schobel's line with a game to go is 54 tackles, 10 sacks, 4 PD, 3 FFs, and 1 INT returned for a TD).
  20. So, not too much that you learned from this game. I guess we knew what this team is. I would just say that only sign Incognito as a back-up. I would keep the Levitre-Hangaartner-Wood core as is. Buffalo News reported today Wood is expected to be fine (Gaughan piece).
  21. Anybody for Dennis Dixon?
  22. And last year, we used 1st and 2nd round picks on Eric Wood and Andy Levitre. Polian drafted McKinney in the 4th round (he used the 2nd and 3rd round picks on WRs), and Moore was a low-level free agent pick-up. So, I think there's a lot of parallels to what the Colts did, only I would say we need to spend our 2nd rounder on OL and not wait until the 4th. I agree this organization has not been very smart, but I think it will be a totally different group of people making the calls.
