  1. Reguardless of what people think or how JP plays, that's what it cost us for JP. Did Dallas make a good deal?
  2. Reviewing the draft pick value chart's point system, that's about roughly the cost in points for JP. We gave up last year's 2nd rd pick(#43) that's valued at 470 points, 5th rd pick(#144) that's valued at 34 points, and this year's 1st rd pick that's the #20 overall that's valued at 850 points. That's a value of 1354 points. The #9 pick overall in a draft is worth 1350 points. Am I looking at this the right way? If I am, is this too high or too low for JP? I'm not sure, but I do know that the value in points that Dallas gave up at the #22 pick overall last year was worth 780 points. Looking at it like this I think Dallas made out pretty good. I would have done it if I were them, wouldn't you.
  3. I agree with you brihs2005, take the best athlete available with our 1st pick. Matter of fact, try to move up to get this guy. I'm sick and tired of the "draft for need" thinking. Make him a TE/slash and put him up on the line to help compliment our O-linemen. This kid is a flat out athlete. Period.
  4. I'm thinking that this is actually good news. With Seattle resigning C Robbie Tobeck it strengthens their O-line pretty good. This should reduce the possibility of a Seattle/Arizona trade come draft day. I may be wrong about this so could somebody shed some light on this thought?
  5. The feeling is after the big 3 RBs are drafted (Benson, Brown, and Williams) the interest in Alexander, Edjerrin James and Travis Henry will pick up. There is as many as 5 out of the top 8 teams picking in the draft looking for RBs. Could this endanger Buffalo's chances of dealing TH to Arizona? I don't think I like the sounds of this draft day scenario. We all better expect the unexpected come draft day.
  6. ...but it's gonna cost a couple of buckets of food. Gilbert Brown was thinking of coming out of retirement to play for the Ravens but they weren't interested. Maybe if we tossed a bunch of ham sandwhiches and a few baskets of wings he might consider shuffling off to Buffalo. Could you imagine the lunch line with him, Mike Williams, and Sam Adams? It would look loke feeding time at the zoo! I'm just having a little trouble figuring out which mammal to compare them too. Any suggestions on comparisons?
  7. When you say "break out year" I'm assuming you mean their best year. With the fluxuation of the last few years, I am looking forward to Eric Moulds having his best year ever. On a darker note, the stage could be set for QB Kelly Holcomb to come in relief for Losman and have a HUGE year. Either way, with our QBs we should have a good to great year.
  8. I'm just curious what the norm is for smaller school prospects with athletic ability. Players with size, speed and big statistics against lesser competition. Do they get drafted in the early rounds? If so, at roughly what percentage and how many? I know very little about college players and what they can truly contribute. It seems to be that Division I players dominate the first 3 rounds in the draft. Is it usually too big of a gamble to take a Division II player in the 2nd or 3rd round? Furthermore, is it unheard of to draft a Division III player in these rounds?
  9. Oops! I owe the board an apology. I just assumed and didn't verify that Gramatica was drafted in the 1st rd. Good call Albany,n.y. Istill don't see or want a kicker on the 1st draft day. Let's spend it on the O-line, TE and defense. It will be well spent.
  10. Hey buftex, A Train would be a good option too. Is everybody comfortable with the youth in the backfield or would you like to see a veteran FA back there for back-up insurance?
  11. That's pretty funny VABills. I would have to agree. I don't see Buffalo drafting a kicker with one of their earlier picks, at least I hope not. Kickers are important but not when you play half your games at home and you are notorious for having "swirling winds", then I don't think that it would be a very good investment or a high priority. All the more one would think that the Bills are really looking to go over the top with the power running game. This would indicate that OL, TE, and a reliable 3rd WR would be a wiser choice. I personally don't think too much about Lindell's capabilities and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets replaced. I'm not quite sure of his cap hit, but if memory serves me right, he's getting overpaid. I'm expecting us getting a FA PK. Paul Edinger may become available. Here's a guy we could probably get cheap and he already kicks in a windy city. He's just one example. I'm sure there is other alternatives out there. Another 1st round kicker in recent memory is former Tampa PK Marteen Grammatica.
  12. Where was the benefit or good of smearing his peers and teammates? Is this guy coming out with a book in the near future? Thanks alot Haslett for the black-eye. I love the Bills and I am very proud of them but losers of 4 Super Bowls, the OJ Gate and now this? Where is the relief?!!! As it is we are a small market and get no respect. Ah man, we need to win a Super Bowl like NOW! That would shield some of this crap that we had to endure. I want to start Talking Proud. I do believe that TD and MM have strong and convictions and it's not just about winning. I think that they firmly believe in having pride and values, as a person and as a organization. Do you think that we are very near into turning the corner and becoming a team that's in the upper echelon in the league for class, dignity, and ability? I know Mr. Wilson always projects this and I'm very grateful for him. I think TD & CO. may just have the right stuff to be the proper supporting cast. Mr. Wilson shouldn't have to see his beloved franchise get smeared in the last years of his life. And yes, it is a reflection on this franchise because that idiot Haslett is a alumni of it. Here's an old cliche that never meant more to me than now. Let's win one for the Gipper!
  13. It would be a great negoiating ploy. Show Arizona that we are not playing around and that we're not desperate. Either come to terms or we'll look elsewhere. It's always best to deal from a position of strength rather than weakness. Sign Anderson or someone comparable and watch how fast this trade moves along.
  14. Hey JoeF, hey suggestion. I would take either ex-Giant player, same dog food different label. Here's another idea. Make Jason "Peterbuilt" Peters a H-back and put him in for short yardage/relief appereances. Now that would a power running game!
  15. What happen to last off season? Him and Coughlin were buddying up and they were supposed to make Dayne more of the offense. Somehow he got back into the doghouse. Was it due to his ability? I know that during Fassel regime he was fat and lazy. I really thought last year he was going to do something. If you were able to watch him practice last year, then who am I to argue. I thought maybe he just got lost in the shuffle. That's too bad, he's 5'10" and 245, aah what a waste.
  16. TD and MM are always wanting a power running game and with a young, inexperienced QB starting this year, do you think a TH type between the tackle back-up RB be a good solution? After Willis MaGahee massages a defense, would it be good to bring in a fresh power runner? I think so. I would not be surprised if Buffalo picks up a veteran FA RB and goes for other needs/depth in the early rounds of the draft. I think RB Ron Dayne would make an excellent choice to back-up and/or spell WM. Instead of Thunder and Lightning, we can call our RB tandem Bam-Bam. This team is too young, especially in the backfield, to just go with inexperienced RBs. WM doesn't even have a full year starting under his belt. Throw in that if he ever got plowed in that knee again we would really be up the creek. Don't be shocked if you hear in the near future that Dayne, or someone of that caliber, comes visiting at One Bills Drive.
  17. Sorry, I didn't get to finish, I got booted off the computer at work. Crennel should know who TH is better than most coaches. C Jeff Faine would look good in a trade and if not him, how 'bout TE Steve Heiden? Cleveland has the second pick (#34) in the 2nd rd and the third pick (#67) in the 3rd rd. I would love to see a trade worked out with these guys. I'd be more than happy to trade TH for one of these guys and the swapping of pick(s). Let's get er done! Kick this around, Bear's coach Lovie Smith is not happy with PK Paul Edinger's performance last year. He may bring in more competition at the position. His stats weren't great but he did kick behind a poor o-line. He proved that he's got a big boot (3 of 5 from 50+) and that's in the "windy city". Heck, the guy even punted twice last year. One he buried inside the 20. New rule. The league passed a new rule for this year. It will provide extra protection for kickers and punters against unnecessary hits. Look out, Moorman might get his average up to 80 yds per punt! Just kidding, but could you imagine BM with more protection? He'll be killing it.
  18. News blurps that may have interest for a Bills' fan. The Lions are believed to be looking to invest a draft pick to bolster the OT position in this year after the departure of former OT Stockard McDougle (Phins) to free agency. More on RBs of interest, Seahawks' RB Shaun Alexander is optimistic a deal can be worked out between both sides. " I expect a contract to be done once the season begins and then we go for the next step." Alexander said, " I believe in the Seahawks. When I got here, we were 6-10. The last two years we've been in the play-offs. I firmly believe that we're going to get over the hump." I like the sound of that. TH's value just went up. On another note, Colts owner Jim Irsay discusses the future of RB Edgerrin James. " My feeling is one of two things will happen," Irsay said." He'll come back to us and be a big part of our football team and give us a chance to be Super Bowl contenders again. If he doesn't, there will be a trade. If we...ended up trading him, we'll turn to more defensive needs." Oops! Don't like the sound of that. Browns' coach Romeo Crennel hinted that the team could invest a pick in this year's draft at the RB position. What are we waiting for? Get him on the phone!
  19. What is wrong with you guys? You think every player on the 49'ers suck? If you don't know who the guy is and you didn't even investigate his ability then how in the world would you know how good or bad he is? That is some pretty narrow mindedness wouldn't you say?
  20. San Francisco tendered their starting LG Eric Heitmann last month. He was a 7th round pick (#28 in the rd). San Fran can match the offer if they choose to. I wouldn't mind seeing this explored a little more, the cost for a starting LG would be minimal. Heck, this guy even caught a pass last year, maybe he could be our new "slash" on the O-line (just kidding, before I get roasted!). What would be the pros/cons to this angle?
  21. I thought they loved Farve in GB? What a way to wind down a career! They got nothing but old, beat-up junk in front of him at the G spots (oops, no pun intended). Watching teams like GB go out and either pay for dented trash cans or pay outrageous amounts of money for just decent/good players, then I'll be more than willing to sit back and wait until the season starts to see what our O-line will consists of.
  22. I'm a transplanted Rochesterian who now resides in Fort Myers, Fl. The same town that Baby V comes from and I gotta tell ya, that's the real Baby V right there. Man, that girl can bring it! And on top of her obvious talent, that girl is the sweetest thing, always so happy and pleasant, just a joy to be around. I hope she wins the whole thing.
  23. Getting back to the original theme of this post, "Where are the Bills reporters?" Well, where?!!! TD's cloak n dagger dealings are great and suspenseful, but man, talk about a mushroom philosophy! Flying under the radar is great but it's a two edged sword for a Bills' fan. I personally would like a little more insight on the direction of this team. I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too.
  24. Begin opening trade talks with Cleveland on Travis Henry. See how much interest they would have for their 3rd rd (#67) pick. This might be reasonable for them. They apparently are not happy with Suggs and you know that they want to rid themselves of W. Green. If they don't find a valid talent in free agency, then their choices will start dwindling down to using that big, fat, juicy 1st rder (#3 overall). They got too many holes to fill and I'm sure Crennel would much rather trade down for more picks and use them on the defensive side of the ball. There would be logic and several benefits from exploring this avenue. a) Henry is a steal in contract $$$ and salary cap in comparison to E. James and S. Alexander. b) I think Donahoe has been twisting the thumbscrews pretty good on Henry lately and if Travis had any kind of demands you can bet that they'll be dropped. c) Speaking of thumbscrews, it's time to start applying them to old Denny Green. Let's see how good Fat Albert is at playing poker. d) #67 is only the second pick in the 3rd round, close enough to being a 2nd rder for me. e) Use the media to rekindle some interest and perceived value in Henry. It's called marketing. It's just an idea but I do believe something has to be done with Travis, it's starting to get silly. Let's get something while we can before it starts getting really squirrely. I don't care if it's Arizona, Cleveland or even Miami, let's get er done!
