  1. My guess is the Giants so he can help protect that sissy Eli.
  2. No long post, just a few simple reasons why. 1) veteran leadership 2) cheap contract 3) a mentor for JP 4) will be satisfied on being a back-up 5) mobile and would fit the offensive scheme 6) every other alternative has some kind of baggage or drawback 7) has a good arm Now, go ahead and laugh, blast or criticize. It's the most reasonable solution so far. Or would you rather have Fiedler with the broken neck and rubber arm?
  3. No, I don't believe Bledsoe was solely to blame. But I do believe the offense didn't score as much as hoped earlier in the year and I know they didn't score enough in the last game either. If people agree with it or not, Bledsoe is gone and JP is the starter. With the offense underachieving last year and a brand spanking new QB, it would be in Buffalo's best interest to try and insulate JP with more offensive weapons AND protection (as in bigger and better O-linemen). Even if Bledsoe was still here we would still need some good TEs and a dependable 3rd receiver. Let's not look into it more then what it was meant to be. We need more additions on offense this year, especially because we have a young, inexperienced QB.
  4. The defense and special teams are in pretty good shape outside of the DT (Pat Williams). I would like to see Buffalo load up with some massive O-lineman, gigantic TEs and a bigger, more dependable 3rd receiver. I also saw that Matt Jones at the combine and he looks like a Shockey-type. Convert him to a TE or H-back. He's big and he's got speed. Did anybody see that one handed snag for a TD? With the depletion that Buffalo has got at this position, it's really starting to worry me. Pair Jones up with Jason "Peterbuilt" Peters (who also has speed for a behemoth) and add some hogs thru free agency for the O-line. As for a 3rd receiver, that Tab Perry from UCLA was huge and with some good speed (6'3 @229 lbs). With WM smashing the ball behind a big line and JP's arm and legs, this season might not be so scary. Any other thoughts for a more successful season?
  5. I understand that part. But why say or do anything before you have to? I'm just trying to figure out what the real purpose is. I just think that this has some bearing on what back-up QB that he's targeting.
  6. As calculating as Donahoe is (which isn't a bad thing), why would he go out of his way and announce releasing Bledsoe before he had to? To openly display that he made a mistake? Was he truly looking out for DB's welfare? I don't believe it. The old cat burgler is up to something. Could somebody explain a logical reason for this?
  7. If the Bills do make JP the starter, which there seems to be no reason to think that they won't, then look for the offense to get an instant adjustment with proven veterans to help insulate JP's transition. From the o-line(good-bye JJ) to TEs to even another solid receiver for the slot. PK should be higher up on the priority list than ever before but this could may even happen in the draft. With comfortable room in the salary cap could the likes of a Walter Jones be on the radar? Or maybe some of those offensive linemen out of GB. I hate to say it but if Farve was to retire that could benefit Buffalo. If Brett is gone then you'll see some of those veterans fly out of there. TEs will become all the more important with a young, inexperienced QB. Pollard or, God willing, Franks would look good in a Buffalo uniform. Also, I would love us to get Rod Gardner for a 3rd receiver. That would be a three headed monster! On defense Buffalo is pretty solid. There doesn't seem to be a weakness or an urgent need on this side of the ball. The Bills do have some luxury in regards to time here. That's why I believe that they'll draft more defensive players early in the draft for depth and for developing for the future. It's very exciting trying to anticipate what TD will do. The specific players mentioned above may not be accurate but I do think this basic outline is pretty realistic. Could anybody else elaborate on this train of thought? It would be very interesting to hear other comments and opinions on the future direction and make-up of this team for the 2005 season.
  8. Word has it TD had to hot wire the car because Bledsoe was still holding onto the keys.
  9. If Warner is going to Chicago, I think that would make Georgy Porgy the odd fossil out. Now before everybody starts blowing a gasket and calling me, my family and all my ancestors unprintable names, look at a few reasons that could be beneficial. a. He's been out of the league for awhile and shouldn't be all beat up. b. The guy flat out has a rocket launcher for an arm which would compliment the speed of our receivers. Evans in particular. c. He's been humbled in his maturity. Go back and read some of his interviews when he was hooking up with Chicago. He sure sounds a bunch different. And personally, I really don't care about the nice guy crap anymore. I want the freaking ball down the field. d. With his abilities, the cheap money that it would take to get him, and having insurance backing up Losman vs all the other bags of dust out there. At least you shouldn't hear anything about being named the starter like you would get with the likes of Garcia, Bledsoe, Warner etc. All right now, go ahead, it's time to unload on how retarded this thought is but keep one thing in mind. If anyone doesn't think that TD isn't going to pull some shocking move to back up Losman then I'll reserve a room for you when I check into Bellview. Peace.
  10. It makes me laugh that everybody NOW says TH has no value. Last preseason I was dying to trade TH and got bashed for it. But I never thought the guy was garbage. I just wanted to try to get the best value for him because he didn't seem to thrilled about the WM pick. C'mon, the guy ran for over 1300 yds a couple of times. What, did he use smoke-n-mirrors? There is other RBs on their roster who coud be options for the pass offense. Rhodes, R. Williams and Mungroe all provided input at one time or another. If they could sign another RB that's the second coming of James, it would be similar $$$. In that case, why wouldn't they just resign James? The point was in reference to not having the dollars to pay for a blue chipper and address their OTHER big needs on defense. I'm sure that they could hide some of TH's shortcomings on such a strong offense. TH would be quite a reasonable AND serviceable RB. Throw in some possible familiar factors like Polian and Manning and it just seems like it could be a possibility.
  11. Hopefully Reed doesn't play as putrid as he has in the past but if he does then what Astobot said seems to have some value to it. If we get a 2nd or even a 3rd rder for TH then I'd love for us to trade the pick for Rod Gardner. What a trio of recievers that would be.
  12. With Manning and Harrison locked up and having other offensive firepower, you'd have to think that their defense is where the rest of their cap money will go. The Edge will command big $$$ and , believe me I live in SW Florida, wants to play very badly in Florida. Miami in particular. The Colts will be drafting late in the 2nd and it would be a mild investment for James replacement. It could be something that Polian would consider. With two 2nd rders and apparently plenty of cap room, it looks to be a very exciting free agency again. I'm expecting TD to be either trading for and/or signing some big time talent. If he keeps all of the draft picks then we'll be getting some great prospects. Hopefully this year we'll be adding our last few pieces that we need for a good, strong run for and in the post season. I also don't think it would be a bad idea to draft another QB with a mid to late rd pickeither. Believe in it or not but Losman will be our starter, Bledsoe is gone and if Matthews doesn't stay, we'll be needing another veteran QB which we'll get in FA. The Bills should at least try to develope another young prospect at QB for insurance for the future. They would have a 1 to 2 year window for this.
  13. Would Vinnie Teastaverde be out of the question? Talk about a seasoned veteran! How ironic would it be that we gave our 1st rd pick this year for JP and we landed up with Vinnie for insurance/mentorship? What would be even more ironic is if we swapped Bledsoe for Teastaverde. What a merry-go-round that would be!
  14. I agree with you Andy. A QB committee would probably destroy any progree that was made. There's been talk lately about Neil O'Donnell's availability. There may not be a bad option. At one time he had a very low interception ratio. TD is also very creative in incentive laced contracts. Give O'Donnell a very safe offense to run, he could be effective. Keep Matthews as a clear 3rd stringer and these 2 veterans could mentor JP. This way JP wouldn't lose out on the important reps that he would need as a 2nd string QB. Who knows, he may even win the starting job. Either way it would be low risk and wouldn;'t jeoparize the continuity of the team. Just a thought. Any opinions on this possibility?
  15. Thanks TDRupp, that's exactly the kind of insight and opinion I was looking for. I don't know if I totally agree but not a bad theory at all. I guess I'm still hoping for that Elway type even though I know that's not gonna happen.
  16. When TD announced so early that DB will have to make a decision on his income and playing status, you can rest assure that Old Tom has an alternate plan at the QB position. What that may be is the hard part to figure out. Does he have enough confidence in the youngster JP? One would think not. Or is there going to be an available FA veteran that will start? This is more than likely considering how TD didn't even bat an eye in his demands on DB. Would a trade be out of the question? The more interesting question is, who can this be? The last couple of weeks there has been posts from Warner to B. Johnson and any other FA QB. Can someone please give a reasonable insight on who and why? I don't think it will take too long into free agency before Donahoe locks somebody up. With every possible canidate, there is just as many cons as there are pros.
  17. It's more possible than one would think. He's uncle is Damion and I'm sure that wouldn't hurt the negoiating.
  18. Here's some strong, versatile cinema. Body Heat The Hustler To Live and Die in LA The Music Man Cool Hand Luke
  19. As far as trading for a FA he may not be. Price was tagged so we could get compensation. The same could happen here. Point is I'd like to see Buffalo make some moves for some proven veterans. Lucas would look good in blue. I don't care how the Bills get him. It gets so tiresome drafting players and then when they start solidifying themselves their contracts are matured and they start commanding big bucks and Donahoe gets rigid. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose in negotiating. I want to beat New England THIS year and take the division. I say let's trade TH and move on. Keeping him will only be a negative. His attitude stinks and it doesn't look like he'll get much playing time playing behind Willis. The Eagles believe in dumping a player a year BEFORE he's spent. I only see Henry's value spiraling down while he's in Buffalo.
  20. Here's another possible solution. Trade TH for Lucas. This could potentially save Seattle from losing out all together. They could tag Hasslebeck or Jones, let Alexander go and replace him with Henry for alot less money. They have a pretty good, young secondary now to where as they could absorb the loss of Lucas. With spending less money on a RB would it would loosen up more $$$ for their other players.
  21. Seattle can't keep or "tag" all the players. Why should Buffalo trade or even use an early round pick on a CB when they can just cough up the cash for an proven experienced player? This would be 1 less position to worry about. Would this be a good or bad move?
  22. Unlike his peers who are demanding BIG $$$ to play for 2005, all Henry wants is to be a starter. More than likely he will be VERY flexible AND contract friendly just so he can be a starter. Rudy Johnson, Edgerin James and Shaun Alexander all want big bucks and/or specific places to play whereas Travis only wants to be a starter. When free agency begins this factor should be more lucrative in his value versus his compensation. This will play to Buffalo's benefit. Once again Donahoe is holding some juicy cards. I really look forward to what shocking moves Tom has up his sleeve. You can be sure Buffalo won't come up on the short end. So strap in and have some patience and be grateful that we got Donahoe calling the shots.
  23. If the 2nd rd lands up being our earliest pick, would anybody object to trading it for an experiencd veteran? Let's hear some input on this train of thought.
  24. Hey Tigerj, thanks for the info. I'll be the 1st to admit that I don't too much about what actual talent is available in the draft. If there isn't a solid talent when we pick at the safety position then I would like to Buffalo fortify the LB position, especially the MLB spot. It wouldn't hurt to have a potential bright talent there for the future.
  25. Maybe I missed something here. The post is asking for what position YOU would draft.
