Can we get DeSean Jackson instead?
I'm all for that.
-
Numbers are awful.
Are the pants brown?
-
NO!
Just no.
-
I only saw two of this year's Best Picture nominees, so I can not be fully objective.
I agree that we will have a split between Picture & Director. "12 Years A Slave" & Cuaron for "Gravity".
"Dallas Buyers Club" will get both Actor awards and I think Amy Adams will get Best Actress for "American Hustle".
I really hope that "Prisoners" wins Best Cinematography, but I just know they will give it to "Gravity". I can not believe that "Prisoners" only got 1 nomination.
I am still angry that "Pacific Rim" got shut out. No Visual Effects, Sound Editing or Sound Mixing?
-
I am with you. I don't really care if he leaves.
I just want the Bills to be smart about it, and maximize what they can get from his departure.
Me too. We've got to get something in exchange for Byrd.
-
"With the ninth pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills select, Ha-Ha Clinton Dix, safety, Alabama".......... This is my nightmare!
-
No one on this board said that if Byrd retired today, he would go into the HOF. All I said was that if he continues at his current level of production through the remainder of his career, he likely will be (or should be) elected to the Hall of Fame. Do you disagree with that statement?
No I would not disagree with that.
-
I really don't know. I find it very hard to believe they will not tag him.
The GM on the Bills, the football guy, has his say in how much he believes that player is worth. Whaley wants to be more involved in the negotiations than Nix did or Brandon did or Marv or whomever. On most teams there is a capologist, but the GM is usually negotiating the deals and deciding ultimately how much these guys are worth and how much we will pay them and at what time we will pay them what. That is what Overdorf and Littman do on the Bills but it's stupid, because they are really not football guys. They know the cap and the teams expenses and all of that, but they can't tell you IMO if Byrd is worth 9m or 10m.
So are they.
So are they, what?
-
I'm saying that neither of them said he is a Hall of Famer, as you implied about we're not talking about a Hall of Famer here. They were saying, if I can speak for them about being "on track," and about the future, and that if the Bills sign him, and keep him for 5-6 more years, AND he continues with this pace and improvement, after his 10 year career his numbers will match Hall of Famers and will likely get in.
And my point about "Not giving him that bust in Canton, yet", was to indicate that I personally would not put him in the Hall of Fame discussion, because I think it's too early for that.
-
How is Byrd not "on track" to being a Hall of Famer?
He could be on track to being a Hall of Famer.
I just think it's a bit early to suggest that he's in the running for the Hall of Fame right now, when he's still got more years to play.
-
Because "on track" means that if he continues on this pace and ascension over the next several years, he will likely be in the Hall of Fame, which at 5-6 pro bowls and 70-80 career turnovers is very likely true. It's not saying he is the best safety in the game and is playing like a Hall of Famer right now.
So neither of the people I have quoted to you are showing any indications that Byrd is a potential HOF candidate?
-
were letting a player on track to be a HOF one day walk for nothing...
F'ing stupid.
Right. 99% of the time we never really know. Even in the relatively few times that we think we're right and we actually are if truth were known, we don't "know" that we are right.
I knew you were going to use that example, but he posted that AFTER you made your comment.
How about that one? Which was posted BEFORE I made my comment.
-
If Byrd plays as well the rest of his career as he has played so far, yes, he is (or should be) a Hall of Famer.
Who exactly is doing that?
Read above.
-
Why wouldn't you at that time?
I did take him seriously at that time. I just wonder if he was being sincere or diplomatic.
Guess we'll never know.
-
Thank you. He is a great player, who can play the run and the pass, can hit hard, and makes turnovers and big plays. He's in the prime of his career.
Yes he is, but let's hold off on giving him that bust in Canton for now.

Sign for less elsewhere??? What on earth is the foundation for this idea?
I'm sure the belief in Byrds camp is the open market is the path to the biggest payday. This isn't some vast conspiracy or diabolical character flaw.
I am sure if Bryd hit free agency and the bills beat all the offers he'd happily keep his locker.
I would not be surprised if he signed for less elsewhere.
Byrd wants to screw over the Bills not the rest of the league.
-
"Everyone?" I'm pretty sure that has been mentioned in this thread, and going back a year now concerning Byrd, about a million times...There are plenty of Bills fans that have felt this way all along...Myself included...
Yeah, I understand that.
What upsets me is, when the season ended, Byrd said he was open to returning to Buffalo, and that he would like to remain with the Bills.
Should any of us have taken Byrd seriously when he made those comments?
-
The Bills were 2-3 without Byrd, 3-6 with Byrd starting, and 1-1 with him playing but not starting and getting back into game shape. While it would nice to still have him, the fortunes of the ream do not rest with him.
But I still say tag him and look to trade him, and if that doesn't work, make him play.
This is all true.
However, we will need a more viable option than Searcy, and we don't know if Duke Williams is ready to be a starter.
There must be someone we can sign in free agency to help us. I do NOT want to draft Clinton-Dix.

Whitner
Lynch
Greer

et. al
Fixed.

We should get on the phone with the Rams and see if they would like to swap picks and we will give them Byrd in the process. So we would tag Byrd then give him to the Rams for the number 2 overall pick and they could have our 9th and we can get Clowney. The Rams would still have two first round picks and we wouldn't lose any picks in the process or do it with Cleveland since they also have two first rounders. The only reason why I brought up the Rams is because I think they would be more likely in trading back than the Browns would because I don't think the Browns are gonna want to possibly miss out on a QB at 4
I doubt that this would happen, but talking to the Rams would be a good idea, as I believe they need Safety help.
-
If Byrd hits the open market, he'll be an Eagle in the 1st day of UFA
I agree.
Eagles need help at Safety, plus you got Chip Kelly there. What else needs to be said?
-
Let's face it, fellas, we're a farm club for just about everyone else in the league. We develop 'em and let them leave. In the process we lose countless draft picks on them and then their replacements. We're spinning our wheels and going nowhere. That's how you reach 14 years of futility.
The truth hurts.
My guess is...right or wrong...they're just tired of dealing with it, and they want to move on...
Wouldn't surprise me. Still wish they could get something in return for Byrd.
-
Looks like Buddy Nixon was wrong.
-
The weird thing is that when he had to move back to corner for some time this year, he played really good. Donnie Henderson must be a witch warlock- with what he did with AW and McLovin
Fixed.
Manny Lawson, what will become of him?

For all we know that NFL GM probably doesn't care for Lawson as a player.
