  1. I have not seen "Lego" so I might completely wrong, but well written animation is entertaining for adults and children.

I would cite the OLD Warner-Brothers theatrer cartoon shorts and more recent "techno" animation movies like "Shrek", as examples.

I look forward to seeing "The Lego Movie". Although I thought the original title, "Lego: The Piece of Resistance", was far better.

I also wish that they could have gotten Michael Keaton to be the voice of Batman. Oh well.

  2. I don't know anything about this guy, but I am now a big Sammy Watkins fan.

    +1, lol.

I assume you two don't watch much college football.

Watkins has been a very good WR for the past couple of seasons and IMO is the most NFL ready WR in the draft. And while I think the Bills have bigger needs at other positions, I could get used to the idea of drafting Watkins.

Having said that, I would not be opposed to trading down in the draft.

  3. I've got a stack of pre-paid movie tickets burning a hole in my pocket, but nothing is catching my eye lately. The cast of Monuments Men might be a bit persuasive, but otherwise I don't see much potential this month.

February usually is not a month for potential. Things will get better, although March is not looking like a stellar month either.

As for "Monuments Men", the cast is very impressive, but why did Columbia move this movie from Christmas to February?

    Buyer beware.

  4. With the first month of 2014 in the books, the "Garbage Season" gets a little more tolerable, as movie studios hope to find a gem or two that stand out amidst all the Oscare fare. With the upcoming Spring Season right around the corner, studios are also hoping to whet the appetite for those bigger titles and will also be promoting the tentpole titles of Summer as well. Two movies(from the same studio) in particular this month, one a remake, the other a push-back from this past Christmas, have been getting major commercial time on television, bringing high awareness to both of them. Now will all this ad time equate to big bucks? We shall see.

Columbia & MGM bring us the remake of "Robocop". In 2028 Detroit, when Alex Murphy - a loving husband, father and good cop - is critically injured in the line of duty, the multinational conglomerate OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. The hope is to reinvent this franchise and turn it into something much bigger than it's 80's predecessor. It's big budget, big cast and PG-13, will help immensely. Starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel & Samuel L. Jackson.

Columbia also looks for gold in the delayed-for-release "The Monuments Men", both written, directed and starring George Clooney. An unlikely World War II platoon are tasked to rescue art masterpieces from Nazi thieves and return them to their owners. The big ensemble cast includes: Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville & Cate Blanchett.

For animated fans who have seen "Frozen" one too many times, will finally get some new animation with Warner Bros. "The LEGO Movie". An ordinary LEGO minifigure, mistakenly thought to be the extraordinary MasterBuilder, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil LEGO tyrant from gluing the universe together. Starring the voices of Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Craig Berry, Alison Brie, Anthony Daniels, Charlie Day, Will Ferrell, Jonah Hill, Will Forte & Morgan Freeman.

Kevin Costner stars in "3 Days To Kill". A dying Secret Service Agent trying to reconnect with his estranged daughter is offered an experimental drug that could save his life in exchange for one last assignment. Also starring Hailee Steinfeld, Amber Heard & Connie Nielsen.

In "Winter's Tale", A burglar falls for an heiress as she dies in his arms. When he learns that he has the gift of reincarnation, he sets out to save her. Starring Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Russell Crowe & Will Smith.

In "Pompeii", A slave turned gladiator finds himself in a race against time to save his true love, who has been betrothed to a corrupt Roman Senator. As Mount Vesuvius erupts, he must fight to save his beloved as Pompeii crumbles around him. Starring Kit Harington, Carrie Anne-Moss, Emily Browning & Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

In "Non-Stop", An air marshal springs into action during a transatlantic flight after receiving a series of text messages that put his fellow passengers at risk unless the airline transfers $150 million into an off-shore account. Starring Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong'o & Anson Mount.

"Endless Love" is the story of a privileged girl and a charismatic boy whose instant desire sparks a love affair made only more reckless by parents trying to keep them apart. Starring Gabriella Wilde, Alex Pettyfer, Bruce Greenwood & Ropert Patrick.

In "Son of God", The life story of Jesus is told from his humble birth through his teachings, crucifixion and ultimate resurrection. Starring Diego Morgado, Amber Rose Revah, Greg Hicks & Adrain Schiller.

In "About Last Night", New love for two couples as they journey from the bar to the bedroom and are eventually put to the test in the real world. Starring Kevin Hart, Joy Bryant, Regina Hall & Bryan Callen.

Finally in "Vampire Academy", Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, half human/vampire, guardians of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discretely within our world. Her legacy is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi. This is her story. Starring Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Danila Kozlovsky & Olga Kurylenko.

  5. Here's an idea: figure out what the Seahawks have done. Cross-border support for the Hawks is incredible in the Canadian Pacific Northwest. The number of fans from Vancouver, the BC Interior (Kelowna, Kamloops) and Vancouver Island that own season tickets, wear Seahawks paraphernalia and loudly cheer for the Hawks is immense. I go to 1-3 games every year in Seattle and am joined by thousands of border crossing fans. How did they do this? By offering a great stadium experience? Having "cool" uniforms and branded paraphernalia? By having a winning franchise? (FYI, I have been going to Hawks games for 8 years and the support from the North has been relatively un-changed and consistently strong despite some rather lean years). I really have no idea what the reason is. I go because I miss the in-stadium NFL experience that I had growing up and going to Bills games. If Toronto can harness what has happened with the Vancouver area, the Bills won't need a game in Toronto, Toronto will go to Buffalo in droves.

    Interesting point.

Maybe there is a different attitude towards the NFL from western Canadians than eastern Canadians?

There is a rivalry between Toronto & Buffalo, but do Vancouver & Seattle have a similar rivalry? Vancouver has an NHL team, Seattle doesn't.

The Seahawks have a loyal fan base, but the Seahawks haven't been an NFL powerhouse until recently. So what is it that attracts the fans from Vancouver to this team?

  6. I predict that the NFL's first game of the regular season, "The Kickoff Game", will be:

    Seattle @ San Francisco

The NFL likes to have their first game be a big match-up. What better game could they come up with than this?

The disdain between the two teams, reliving the playoff game, reminding us of Richard Sherman's rant, and also the christening of the 49'ers new stadium.

    Need I say more?

  7. This guy isn't in the HoF

    This guy...

    http://en.wikipedia....i/Chuck_Foreman

    This guy too...

    http://en.wikipedia....iki/Don_Coryell

Can you "write the history of the NFL" without him?

Believe me, Don Coryell had a way bigger impact on the NFL than Steve Tasker and Darryl Talley combined.

    Roger Craig: No.

    Chuck Foreman: Probably.

    Don Coryell: Definitely.

  8. Before this year I would have said that Special teamers have no place in the HOF. But Ray Guy opened that can of worms. Now the flood gates will be open for special teamers all around. Because of this, there is no guy more worthy of the HOF because he revolutionized special teams coverage.

Ray Guy had to wait until he was eligible for the seniors committee. I think Tasker will have to wait just as long.

  9. I think, in general, the Super Bowl half time concert thing has played out...the only "classic rock" act that might get my attention at this point, would be Led Zeppelin...and I don't think there is a snowballs chance in hell that Plant would ever do that.. why not cirque du soleil or something like that...

    That would be cool.

How about having the Battle of the Bands for the Super Bowl halftime. That would be entertaining, not to mention you'd have people with talent.

  10. My guess is that they get about the same as SF got for Alex Smith. A 2nd seems likely. He is not as proven as Smith but younger and has had some success. I would think that a good deal of teams would prefer Cousins to like Derek Carr or AJ McCarron. I am certainly in that group.

    I certainly would.

I don't know if this would be a wise move by the Redskins. Unless Cousins really wants out.

  11. Beyond Mack there was no one on UB's D. So I'll give a benefit of the doubt. But skipping the Senior Bowl was a bad idea IMO. Two sub par games to end your career then turn down a Senior Bowl invite? I don't like it.

    PTR

I was disappointed too that Mack skipped the Senior Bowl.

Having said that, I do like him as a player and I would pick him over Mosley.
