Which AFC team will take a significant step backward? Cincinnati (they're the only playoff team that didn't get better) or Indianapolis. The Ravens didn't make the playoffs but are in trouble.
Which NFC team will take a significant step backward? Carolina
Which AFC team will take a significant step forward? San Diego will play next level football
Which NFC team will take a significant step forward? Atlanta will not be as piss poor as 2013

NO!
32 teams is plenty. We have the perfect amount of teams divided into the right number of divisions.
The 4 team divisions is far better than the original 5 team divisions, because that freed up two games where your not playing the same old division foe again, and you were playing 2 different teams more often. Which to me is a lot more exciting.
Also the NFL has tapped most if not all of the major markets, who else out there can properly support an NFL team. And forget the European cities. Expanding the league into Europe is a terrible idea.

did he have a game winner at the end last year? i dunno.
I'm not sure. Nevertheless, for a guy who was a street free agent when we signed him, he proved to be clutch.

Stop yelling or I am going to have to turn my women's tennis up even louder!!!
If the Williams sisters are playing there's no need to turn it up.

Wow... Final week is a recap of the first week...
Gee, Week 1 is so vital now.

Hey now! Some of us need this. LOL - I have three small children and just happy to have command of the remote on Sundays and not watching Disney Jr. I enjoy the convenience as I am multi-tasking with everything else.
I have two small children, and come here to escape reality... You sir, just crossed the line- I now have the Disney Jr song stuck in my head, thanks for that! Hahaha
Snap back to reality!
... where the magic begins!
you're welcome!

I really had the hots for Jasmine Guy on Different World. Great body...............That show was decent for a spinoff.
It was ok, but that's what happens when your lead character isn't all that interesting.

Is that the one where he made an awesome cut on a swing pass to the O's left and went for 25-30 to the house?
That's it.

Waaaay too early for this.
So much can and does happen through the pre-season with injuries, suspensions, cap & surprise cuts -even trades.
If this thread were posted after the last pre-season game, the answers would look decidedly different and certainly more informed, while still being just guesses..
I tend to agree, this thread should be brought up at about mid-August.
BTW Yolo, you want to predict Division winners but not wildcards?

I've never even considered the idea that the talent level of the NFL has been diluted. In fact, over the decades, I think it's certainly gone the other way. We now have high schools dedicated to churning out professional football players. I haven't done a search, but I also suspect that over the years, the average size, and speed of an NFL player has gone up. It used to be an everyman's, blue-collar sport. I love that there are elite players, but there's a line between elite, and elitist. Sometimes, the NFL reminds me of what's happened to the America's Cup in sailing, where it went from a millionaire's sport to a billionaire's sport.
I think there has also been a slow shift, over the decades, away from football being a source of regional pride. Hometown heroes are a rarity. That didn't used to be the case.
The question also is: should football expand internationally? Honestly, I don't think I could care less about that. The London game just annoys me-- I'm not sure why.
And, just how diluted would the league become? 53x8=424. There are, what, over 300 million people in the U.S.? Sure, there would be a lower percentage of elite players. But, the dispersion of elite players to piss-poor players isn't a straight line. Thee are many more average NFL players than there are elite players. Obviously.
I pretty much just rattled this whole post off the top of my head, so I might change my mind. Interesting topic, though. Maybe it deserves its own thread?
That has been my theory with the rumors (and near confirmation, it will be next season) of playoff expansion, it would make sense to add a couple teams (I didn't think about 4, but 2) at the same time so the playoffs aren't watered down too much.
As for the diluting of players, there are so many teams that just don't have the space to keep and develop good players. Adding "424" players would certainly make it so that teams would have to put more into developing their players than just acquiring "elite" players.
I just feel that 32 teams is enough.
We have 8 divisions comprised of 4 teams each, which is perfect. There doesn't need to be anymore expansion.

Dan Carpenter.
33/36 on FG's last year, that's a 91.7 FG percentage! 11 from 40-49 and 6 from 50+.
Granted it's the best year of his career, but should we not consider him a gamechanger?

I can't think of anything I haven't liked him in.
I couldn't stand "Invasion," though...had promise, but one of the worst-paced science fiction dramas I've ever seen. Still can't fault his performance (or Kari Matchett's - I see her on Covert Affairs, and still think of her as "that chick from Invasion.")
It took awhile for "Invasion" to get going, but it did lead up to a very good ending.

It going to get worse before it gets better. Disney just hired Andy Dick to take over this woman's job.

What does he add to the offense? Hopefully a lock down right tackle for the next ten years
I'm hoping that OG Cyril Richardson, and Seantrel Henderson make the team, and eventually also find spots on that line.
That would be ideal, if not great.

Mario pretty much won that Dolphins game with the strip sack to give us a chance (Dolphins were driving and were close to FG range)
oh and here's a game changer that ended up going against us...Tuel pick 6 vs the Chiefs! we should have got 6 and instead they did and it was all downhill from there
Thanks for reminding us.

This is going to sound stupid, but I feel like a lot of die-hard Practice fans would feel the same way:
James spader's character on the practice (Alan shore) basically brought the whole show down. I couldn't get past equating Alan shore with the demise of my favorite show. I think it colored my view of Boston legal.
Now that it's been 15 years since the end if the Practice, maybe I ought to go back and give BL another shot!
My patience with "The Blacklist" is wearing thin, but I'll continue to stick with it and hope that it starts getting somewhere faster.

I'd like to add someone to the argument. This is based solely on the title of being under rated. I don't know of he fits your roles.
William Fitchtner. Awesome. Love him in everything. And he's from Cheektowaga. Went to Maryvale and love the City of Buffalo and the area.
Good choice. He was very good in "Invasion". Too bad that show got cancelled after one season.

Not just the signs, but they also tell you all of that before the ride starts.

It was already released to Video On Demand (for Time Warner at least) so I just watched at home. It is a new release strategy it's trying.
Yes that has become a new tactic for small films to get buzz and to get real box office gross.

How could I forget this one -
Mario's strip sack at Miami & KW's recovery
Beat me to it.
I will add Searcy's 60+ yard fumble recovery for a TD against the Patriots. I would love it if Searcy could become a gamechanger, but I'm not expecting it.

Good effort.
As for feedback. I don't grade a draft until a few years have lapsed and certainly not before the drafted players even step foot on the field. So, nothing from me on the draft summaries.
As for FA. I would grade as follows:
Bills C+. Rivers may get a chance to shine with Kiko out. Spikes is a 1 dimensional guy who will be exploited by better QB's. Graham is a fine addition. Losing Byrd hurts. The rest are backup types.
Jets B-. If he can stay healthy, Vick will be a big upgrade over last years version of Smith. Johnson and Decker could excel if the Jets get good QB play. The Cromartie loss could be devastating with only Wilson as his viable replacement.
Pats B+. Revis might make this grade an A+ by himself when all is said and done. Browner could excel in this defense. LaFell is a solid addition at the big WR spot for them. If Smith is healthy he should help as a spot pass rusher. No significant FA losses other than Talib who they improved upon. BTW, A Wilson didn't play last year.
Miami C. Albert and Smith should improve the OL. Then again so could have adding my brother and I given how bad it was last year. Finnegan might be done.
I think we have to wait and see on Revis, but I agree he could make that defense a lot better. I think the onus is on Will Smith. Doe he have enough to give the Patriots a real pass rush?
I wouldn't be too dismissive about the Dolphins signings, they added some good players, despite all the troubles they had last year.

I'm not down on Cyrus and I like the pick but I did want to comment on the 3 videos provided in the link. I'm not so sure each one of those aren't penalties in the NFL.
In the first video Cyrus shows excellent burst and pushes the defensive player back nicely - but after that initial hit the player attempts to get around him and is being held as you see the left shoulder pad fly up in the air, he then continues to hold the remainder of the play. This defensive player was not going to make the tackle and Cyrus better learn to know when to let go so that holding isn't called so far away from the play.
In the second video it's quite obvious he slaps the defensive player in the back to push him down. That's a penalty all day. I'm not sure if this is a signature move of his but if he can get in front of the defender and slap him on the side of his upper body ala Reggie White, it would be one awesome move. I've always wondered why more people don't use the "Reggie move" and I wasn't even thinking offensive lineman using it. Kind of like why don't people learn they sky hook like Kareem mastered?
The 3rd video is similar to what I was saying in the first but Cyrus IMO does a much better job of engaging and driving back (almost 5 yards), but at the end he should let go, especially when the job is done.
You beat me to it!!! I was thinking the same things about 1&3... Looked like holding all day long...
The slap move, I don't think is illegal, unless it's to the head- but I don't care how heavy your hands are- 99% of the time, you aren't going to slap an NFL DE to the ground with one swing of your arm
So Kouandjio would have been a perfect pick for the Patriots. Because they never hold.
