  1. I looked at the pre-season stats on NFL.com, and a lot of other no-names "tore it up" as well. That's why I said he showed promise.
  2. Watson showed promise, but I wouldn't say he "tore it up" in pre-season. And in any case, my biggest fear about him was him "tearing up" his body, which he has a history of, and which he proceeded to do.
  3. If the Bills find a guy worth taking with their 1st pick and he pans-out, it doesn't matter if it's a weak year or not. I'm not advocating reaching for a TE, just saying that taking one wouldn't be a bad idea. That wasn't my point. I was saying that the Pats had a good TE on their roster (Fauria) yet still spent 2-1st round picks on TE's.
  4. Their reasoning might not have been sound, but I still don't think that drafting a TE high is a bad idea. I mean 2 of the Pats' 4-1st round picks the past 3 years have been TE's, and that was while they had Christian Fauria at TE. Furthermore Campbell and Euhus are coming off ACL injuries which potentially could ruin their careers, although likely not, but it's likely that they WON'T be ready to fully contribute until past midway through the season. Last of all a good TE who is a threat as a blocker and receiver can really open up and improve the offense.
  5. Thanks. I've been recording on D8 tapes (I have a Sony DCR-TRV320 camcorder). They're home movies that I want to put on DVD so my wife can play them anytime for the kids when I'm not home, without having to hook-up the camcorder to the VCR/TV or wait for me to get home to do it (she gets freaked out by that stuff! Also it's easier to play DVD's than having to plod through tapes). I don't plan on editing the tapes, just tranferring as is. All I want is a program that will give me the best quality in the transfer from tape to DVD and nothing more. As for the DVD's not lasting forever, I've heard about that. I have Verbatim DVD's and I've heard that those are among the best. I plan on storing them in a cool dry place and I'm not going to erase the D8 tapes anyway.
  6. The players are rapidly approaching the point where it's good for them to continue rejecting a cap and forcing a lockout. They have lost and stand to lose MORE money by being locked-out than had they accepted a cap in the first place. And without a fiscally responsible NHL, their salaries in a few years aren't that secure. Not everyone can be paid by and playing for the top teams. Exactly. I'm not a big NHL fan, but I want the Sabres to remain in Buffalo and be competitive, and a cap would do just that. It might even make me more of an NHL fan, knowing that more than half the teams in the NHL CANNOT outspend the Sabres by a good margin, and thus give them just as good a chance at winning.
  7. I got the camcorder 5 years ago and got some crappy Sony software for it. I'll probably be buying a new camcorder soon, but this time one that records onto DVD.
  8. I have a bunch of 60 minute tapes. I plan on capturing one tape at a time, burning it, erasing the capture, and then starting over with another tape. But I'll check into Pinnacle. Thanks.
  9. Anyone captured their digital video tapes to MPEG-2 and burned them onto DVD's? I'm trying to do that and need to know good affordable software for capturing and making a decent recording. I have the camcorder, digital tapes, firewire card and cable, DVD burner and media. Thanks in advance.
  10. Yep. He had a whole 7 catches for 119 yards and 0 TD's.
  11. Maybe not DOOMED, but being as successful will be extremely hard for them. As "they" say, when you're at the top, there's nowhere to go but down. And when you lose 2 KEY coordinators, as well as possibly the guy who was expected to replace one of them (Mangini, who Belichick feels is the most qualified coach to replace Crennel, and has for at least a year), that's a big loss to take. Hell look at 2002 when the Pats lost NO ONE and failed to make the playoffs.
  12. And what about all that pressure he took off the O-line by being mobile and avoiding sacks?
  13. No cap=no NHL. I don't see the players getting smart and accepting a cap anytime soon. Without agreeing to one, no shortened season this year and next year the NHL probably uses replacements, which means even MORE lost money for the players. It's extremely short-sighted on the players' parts, which is expected to a degree, but really stupid in this case.
  14. And just exactly WHO are the Falcons' WR's? Crumpler is a great TE, but Price is a #2 at best, and the rest are nobodies. This isn't a post supporting Vick, just disagreeing that the Falcons are fine at WR.
  15. Ding, thanks for playing. Belichick has been a genius for years and was one back in Cleveland. The difference is that he didn't have the coaching staff. Saban was a good DC, but those Cleveland defenses were nowhere NEAR as good as the Pats' defenses. And if they give the job to Scarnecchia, who isn't an OC by any stretch, there will be a large dropoff.
  16. Come now! Didn't you know that JP will fix all the Bills' problems on offense, as well as make Lindell kick better?
  17. I'd like to do what the Pats do: take nobodies who make nothing but still be able to play well in the SB. I'm hoping McNally finds 1 or 2 like that.
  18. The LAST thing the owners want is to reorganize/start over. If that were to happen, the players would simply form their own league and thus have the superior product.
  19. No the FUNNY part was that he lost Belmont, making all those phone calls a HUGE waste of time and money. Of course it also means you lost $8 or whatever for the domain name, but hey, that's the risk you take!
  20. Thanks for the input. I went with AT&T's 802.11g-108 Mbps. Got the router (2 of them actually, 1 for home one for work) for $30 and the card for $20. A lot less than I thought I'd pay to go wire-free!
  21. Guards should NOT be big money positions. I'd say $2M tops. Mayberry will seek a lot more than that.
  22. Uh...the mob? You want a pair of concrete shoes?
  23. Too much money, and the Eagles will keep him if they want. They're something like $24m UNDER the cap.
  24. What the cap shows is that a lot of times, coaching makes a big deal. So to does having a good core of players. However I'll trade what the cap-sports have versus MLB in terms of possibly not providing for as much open competition , if it means keeping the Bills and Sabres in the black and remaining in Buffalo.
  25. Don't kid yourself. Connecticut wants NOTHING to do with the putrid Pats after that whole Hartford-Pats jerkoff.
