Correct, STS-2 also had the white tank. Beginning with STS-3, they stopped coating the ET as they deemed the air flow over sensitive wiring and tubing was not damaging. They saved 595 pounds. Little known factoid about the paint job. It was touched up for the news cameras. The side facing the crowd was tarted up a bit for show. I have a photo of how bad it really looked. Tarting up a shuttle, sheesh....

Someone (maybe on TBD) said once that they subtract 10 IQ points for every degree from center the cap is rotated. I like it, so I have adopted that philosophy as well. I mess with people who do that. I go up to the kids and ask them if they know thier hat is on crooked. I love the blank stares which say without saying, "you're too old to "get it"...

Funny thing about that tho, there was NOBODY back in the day, before the great exodus from the north. One really good thing about Charlotte now is that the uptown area has undergone a complete 180 from the old days. Growing up, you did NOT go downtown unless your school field trip was going to Discovery Place. Unless you wanted to get stabbed or purchase contraband. Once the banks moved in, the old dilapidated lots with burning trash and litter turned into multi-million dollar condos. It is really quite amazing the change, you kind of had to see the old Charlotte to really appreciate how much better it is these days...

Wow, Ballantyne. I grew up there. You guys should have seen it twenty years ago. The roads that used to be there there don't even exist anymore. Township Grill was the spot in the heyday. My brother worked there for years. Haven't been there in over ten years. Near the end of the run, it was way crowded, you needed to get there by 11 to get a seat. Don't know about now. I agree with everyone here, the traffic there is out of control. You will absolutely hate driving there. It doesn't matter where you live in the area, you will be affected by it. There is no escape. There is golf all over the place, and these days finding Bills fans there shouldn't be a problem. Now in 1981, it was a different story. I think I was the only one. Good luck to you and your family!

I don't know guys, call me crazy but that episode (and the last few) didn't do much for me. This show needs to pick it up a bit. Did we learn anything new at all here? We knew Hugo was crazy, we just found out why. They didn't really develop any new ground with the Henry Gale guy. The blond girl Libby is a crazy? Wow, that really matters. I've watched this show since the first episode premiered and will probably watch the rest, but the wheel spinning is bumming me out. We need something big to happen soon...
