  2. One thing that kind of sucks about the WC in the US is that there is pretty lackluster coverage. I ended up watching Argentina-Ivory Coast on DTV channel 402, with the commentary in spanish. Looked like Argentina got screwed out of a goal in the first half...

  9. It's all relative. I studied my fuggin @zzhole off in school to get my degrees. My buddies all partied and blew off class. They were business majors. They all make much more than I do at this point. Difference is, I can get a job pretty much anywhere. Guys in thier position are lucky to have jobs, can be downsized at anytime, and have saturated the market...
  10. Most people walk out of there loaded. The only problem is, that while profits are usually good at the company, one successfull lawsuit can fluccuate you out of tens of thousands...

  14. A guy I worked with at PMUSA just retired. He had 100% of his 401k in stock. 100% One judgement against us, and he would have been wiped out at 65 years old...

  21. http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/200...ce-scores_x.htm This study suggests improvement in the overall test scores for grade school age kids. But is it because the bar is being lowered or elevated? Anyone here know anything about these so called tests that can weigh in? IMO, science will never be elevated in the minds of people in this county until kids that are good in math and science are not labeled as "nerds" and as long as we place more value in athletics...
  22. They normally use whatever county they are in's spelling and pronunciation. In france we were Etas Unis, England was Engleterre, etc...
  23. Well, I didn't actually get to go to a live match. My two friends went to the England vs. Tunisia match in Marseille when the riot broke out. They were nearly killed. But even though I didn't get to go to any matches (horribly expensive), there were several very large screens set up all over Paris. Big screens, like an IMAX size in strategic places like the courtyard in Notre Dame, and near the Tower. Thousands of people would gather around these things during the day, businessmen, police, kids...anyone you would see on a given day on that street. Imagine having thousands of Bills fans watching our team win the Super Bowl on a huge outdoor IMAX screen... in Buffalo. It was very much like that. One of my best memories from that trip was sitting on the "lawn" of this one area in front of the screen at the Eiffel Tower made up to look like a football field smoking a fat euro cone. Ahh, the carefree days of youth...
