  1. I loathe anything IBM. My dad worked for IBM, I used to get all their newest and greatest gadgets free to play with, from the XT/AT/PCjr onward. With the exception of my Intellistation Z, I hated every one of them - and I hated the Intellistation until I rebuilt it.
  2. Still the best laptops out there...if you don't mind the occasional explosion...
  3. Eugenics works both ways, of course...
  4. I thought it was because they could explode? Oh no, wait...that's my Dell Laptop. Ironically, while I'm not allowed to carry a bottle of water on to a plane, I AM allowed to carry my spontaneous-combustion-prone laptop with me on one...
  5. I tried that once. But my toaster had a warning on it: "Not to be taken internally." I so distinctly remember the very moment I read the warning on the Pop-Tarts. It was a sunny afternoon in April of 1990, in Poughkeepsie NY, and it was the birth of my realization that American society is, in fact, doomed...
  6. That's okay...as long as you take them out of the foil sleeves first and then put them back in the box. Make sure you put them in the broiler vertically, too...I can't stress that enough.
  7. A bit longer. The instructions for toasting a Pop-Tart are actually a bit involved: "Remove pastry from outer sleeve. Place pastry in toaster vertically" - that last point seems to be stressed for some reason - "toast on LOW setting. Remove from toaster when toasted. Caution: Pastry may be hot when heated."
  8. Still not as good as the all-time stupidest warning. On a box of Pop-Tarts: "Caution. Pastries may be hot when heated." Reading warnings these days, it makes one wonder how any of us made it to adulthood.
  9. Yes...once they violated the conditions of their visas, they were here illegally. And again...if they were Hispanic, not only would they not be prosecuted, the ACLU and "undocumented immigrants" rights groups would be up in arms defending them. But since they're dirty, nasty, evil rag-heads, they're arrested for it.
  10. What a surprise. Create a brand new monolithic bureacracy, and it wastes time and money. Shocked, yes absolutely SHOCKED, I am that our government works this way.
  11. Oh, so they were in the country illegally. And yet, when's the last time you saw a Hispanic get arrested for being in the country illegally? Again...any reason other than their being Muslim?
  12. Were they arrested for anything other than being Muslim?
  13. In preseason. Whoop-de-!@#$ing-doo.
  14. Eugenics, man. As long and short posts breed, over time the average post will become more verbose yet say less...
  15. And thus, the tautology is complete.
  16. I still feel good about my prediction, too...
  17. Theoretically...but they'd rather not. Just like loan sharks would rather not break the legs of the guys they loan to: it inhibits the ability to collect their money. Yes, I just compared the IRS to loan sharks. Seems appropriate...
  18. Just like I like to brag about being too smart for Mensa...
  19. All you've just said is "If I arbitrarily redefine "normal", a eugenics program will work to establish the arbitrary redefinition." That is, if the bell curve shifts towards greater intelligence, people will have smarter kids. Of course, your conjecture was originally that people should be bred to have smarter kids to shift the bell curve towards greater intelligence. So you're right...when cause isn't required to precede effect. Nicely crafted argument, though. I had to read it three times to catch the bull sh--.
  20. Wow. That's a long time to hold it.
  21. Yay! JSP got his lithium prescription refilled!
  22. I've been saying that every August for...what, eight years now? Maybe ten? I have yet to NOT be disappointed.
  23. The entire TEAM did that.
  24. The reason you didn't get a substantive response out of me is because of point #2. You believe that to be so...but that doesn't make it so. In particular, you can't have much basis to believe so, since the genetics of intelligence are, if at all understood, are understood poorly. Which is above and beyond the fact that studies show that genetics, environment, and upbringing all combine to determine intelligence. In fact, the most important contributing factor to intelligence is diet, not genetics: everything else being equal, if you starve vos Savant's children in their developmental years, they'll basically grow up to be idiots who believe in stupid sh-- like eugenics or Kelly Holcomb's arm. And even beyond that...I actually had started a substantive response, explaining what "deviation towards the mean" is, and how Marilyn vos Savant's children and grandchildren would more likely than not be average. But I figured, nah, why bother, I already had to dispute this Nazi bull sh-- with KurtGodel77, if you want my opinions you can look them up from back then. But apparently you're not smart enough to research past posts...which I suppose makes you genetically inferior to me.
