Peters may be willing to sit all season
scribo replied to scribo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It doesn't seem to me that Chris Brown is saying Peters is a bad character guy. I think he is just voicing his opinion that if Peters handled this differently, it would work out better for all involved. Did you read the rest of the blog post? Here it is: -

I listen to the John Riggins Show a few times a week here in D.C. He has said a on there that he regrets doing that to his team and he regrets leaving them eventually. Then again, he did credit that off year as a contributing factor to why he can still walk. -

Back to the link in the original post of this thread, I like Chris Brown's words about what the team values: Commitment to the team. Show that you are in 100 percent, and the team will reward you. From Brown: -
I have to think, even with as much money as these guys make, losing $15,000 a day has to really wear on one's nerves.

I never tried that one until just now -- the pop-out feature on that one is quite nice. Thanks!

Peters may be willing to sit all season
scribo replied to scribo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll stand by my opinion that this is likely a bluff by Peters. If he sits out the season, his career may very well be over. If he sits out 10 geams and then comes back, there is no way he'll garner the accolades he did last season. Failing to keep in mind that Peters still has THREE years on his contract with the Bills could lead one to believe Peters has some kind of leverage here. I believe Peters is the best player on the team, but the Bills cannot allow themselves to to be bullied in this way. I have no problem with the team giving Peters a much larger contract to be fair, but Peters needs to do this the right way, which is to at least open direct communication with the team. -

You're right about Parker and his other clients. I agree he doesn't NEED to be in camp, but I have to believe it would benefit the team to have him there. I mean, this line has a great chance to be a very cohesive unit this year. The lone bright spot to this, IMHO, is that this at least protectts Peters from getting hurt (or further injured) in camp. I am sure the loyality angle of this is going to be overplayed, but there is something to be said for at least respecting the organization that brought you in as an undrafted fat guy playing the wrong position, especially when that team found the correct position for you and trained you to the point that you become a Pro Bowler. -
Forget that worthless corner back. I want to know why Kyle Williams is apparently leveraging for a new contract. Yes, I know the ink on his current one dried yesterday and that other DT the Bills traded for is making more dough, but come on...be a team player!!!

Steve Tasker among "10 best players not in Canton"
scribo replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Tasker gets inducted. His staying around the sport is going to help him down the road. He belongs in there and most everyone knows that. It is just a matter of timing, a year where special teams play is on everyone's mind and when there is a bit of a lull in big names first-time balloters. -
Will Turk's offense look like this?
scribo replied to elegantelliotoffen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So if I have this right, we'd have on the field just about every play something along the lines of: Edwards, Losman, Fowler, Royal, another TE, Evans, Hardy, Parrish, Reed, Lynch and Jackson Correct? That would be interesting. We'd get killed, but it would be intersting. Plus, we could trade Dockery, Walker AND PETERS for a great center and tight ends. -
Bills COO Russ Brandon confirms Peters will be fined for his absence. No report yet on why Williams isn't on the field. Kirk Chambers lining up at LT in place of Peters. Chris Brown reports...

I'm researching that now, but I know much bigger stars than Peters have threatened it and caved in after losing a boat load of cash in fines and losts salaries. -
http://www.buffalobills.com/blog/index.jsp?post_id=3671 I think this a complete overreaction from Peters' people; although, it is likely a bluff. I also don't think such threats will do Peters no good. The Bills seems ready for a battle, but I so very much hope it doesn't come to that. By the way, I started a new thread on this because I think this report elevates the situation to where the ongoing discussions needed a new title.

Dr. Z to be at Bills camp on August 2nd
scribo replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Dr. Z, too. That is the one day of this camp I will be get up to. -

Seems interesting. I doubt it could work at any other level -- too complicated for even JVs and too riskt for college. Maybe I'll try it for a couple series later in the year with the 9- and 10-year-olds I coach. -
My first ever training camp report!

Damn, the first report I want to hear is how many cars you bounced off on the way to Pittsford. -
Bills not sure if LT Peters will report to camp
scribo replied to obie_wan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brandon said he would be willing to work out a new deal, but he said to do that he needs to speak with Peters. It seems to me the barbs being thrown at Ralph Wilson are not fair in this situation. It takes two to negotiate. In the meantime, Peters should be at camp. On the complete flip-side, at least we don't need to worry about our star left tackle blowing out a wheel on the first day of camp. -

Last Night's Colbert Report with Nas
scribo replied to justnzane's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Just in case you don't quite get Colbert's humor, the bit he put together on Fox is not intended to be taken seriously. Each and every clip in there showing "racism" was cut in manner that took them all out of the actual context in which they were said. Colbert, as always, is poking fun at everyone involved. What's interesting to me is how this organization allows Nas to be its spokesman. Nas uses the "N" word in many of his raps. -

Brett Favre used Packers cell phone to call other teams
scribo replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ha ha ha. Great stuff. I wonder what else the Pack has been providing Favre on the side? Maybe a team vehicle or house or pair of short shorts. -
Why is German paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in public funds so Obama can give a campaign speech? Something stinks in Berlin. http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,2144,3507071,00.html

Looks like it wouldn't have mattered if Viti made the team
scribo replied to VOR's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sports reporters, and I mean the big-time ones, need to call the Pentagon today and demand an official, on the record, on camera explanation. If it is demanded, the Pentagon will do it. I think Mike and Mike in the Morning producers need to be all over Sec. Gates' public relations staff right now. -
This is why several sites have mentioned Bowen fairly high on lists of defensive rookies who have a shot at making an impact early on. Special teams is where it's at for mid-round draft picks, and he has a great chance of earning a starring role on ours.
