I had a different experience,  John. I had a few poly sci teachers who required you to view the world through their viewpoint, and anything less and you were given poor marks. There was zero room for duscussion.  And like Fergie loves to remind us, we went to an "ELITE" university.

A comprehensive approach is required to resolve the issue at the border. This involves addressing immigration policy, border security, economic development, and humanitarian concerns.

The resolution should include enhanced border security, technological investments for monitoring and enforcement, and addressing migration root causes in Central American countries.

Additionally, it should involve streamlining legal pathways through comprehensive immigration reform and ensuring humane treatment of existing migrants. International cooperation with neighboring countries is also key to effectively managing the border.

I agree with a fair amount of this, but I love that you didn't call me a freak or an idiot.  I like this style of BillStime much better.

No, see - that's the Trump position - since we don't have to do anything more about this until January 2025 - which even then - won't happen - cuz it didn't happen on Trump's first watch.

Thanks for proving my point. You're not going to stop someone who is determined to enter this country illegally.

    Good luck

What is your solution to the southern border?

Can you explain how you are going to stop someone from illegally entering? lol

Did you happen to grow up near Lake Erie? Lake Ontario?

Do you know how easy it is to get into Cananda or vice versa via our Lakes alone?

I can't even count the number of times I have sailed or boated out of Erie Basin Marina and ended up at the Buffalo Canoe Club without issue.

Or, taking our boat from the Lewiston Boat launch (near the old Riverside) and end up at Niagara on the Lake - without issue.

    Good luck man.

So your solution is just to give up and just declare wide open borders?

Trump told us it can wait until January 2025.

The bill as presented doesn't do anything to stop people from entering illegally,  does it?  As far as I can tell it increases the number of legal immigrants by 13%, but seems to only speed up the process for illegals one way or the other.

Do you realize how many people have died from measles outbreak over the course of history there is a reason why we do basic vaccinations for our children

Or I wouldn’t care this is going to hurt Republicans a lot more than it. Is anybody else that don’t believe in vaccines but in this case it’s involving children so I care

What do you do for a living, John?

Democratic donor and PSU professor being charged with additional acts of lewdness.  So is the Democrats defense "why does bestiality bother you....." ?

Penn State professor who begged cops to kill him when he was busted in bestiality case is hit with new charges of lewd acts in park

    "Published Feb. 14, 2024 -

An award-winning Penn State professor arrested in a sickening bestiality case faces more charges after videos emerged of him allegedly engaged in lewd acts in a park — including inserting a tree branch and lollipop in his butt.

Themis Matsoukas, 64, was already facing charges of open lewdness, indecent exposure, sexual intercourse with an animal and animal cruelty after police said he’d been seen on video involved in sexual acts with a pet collie.

The chemical engineering professor begged troopers to kill him — while saying the sex acts helped him “blow off steam,” according to an initial criminal complaint in June.

Matsoukas has now been hit with an additional batch of similar charges for other alleged acts from 55 videos found on his electronic devices seized on a search warrant..."

    Here it comes:

Why do you freaks and racists have against dog fucl<ers? Why does pet porking bother you?

And wtf do you have against cat felatio? You realize how fkd up you are right?

I love these “small government” types who want government in their doghouse.

Love that you freaks and bigots are fringe.

It's not TDS.  It's real.  TDS is a dog whistle for  tone deaf MAGAs.

Make no mistake, TDS is real.  It causes otherwise normal people to not be able to communicate and sometimes behave rationally when anything even tangentially Trump related comes up. Family not speaking over politics, impeachment talk before he even got into office, you name it.  Much of it is brought on by Trump himself, but it's a real mental illness.

It's really weird from my perspective.

Weakening environmental laws and ignoring global warming, giving a huge tax break to the 1% , failing to improve heath care, failing to improve immigration. And the biggest one:  being a stinking ####### and subhuman lying, cheat - the big lie.

Lol, this is the opposite of John's post, except for the TDS. Where do you want to begin? Do you mind if I start a separate thread using your post as a basis?

We are a country built from immigrants. I don’t need any isolationist racist president in the oval office. Thank you very much.

I don’t need a president that bellies up to dictators and trashes his own people to agree with them love letters to dictators not needed

I don’t need a president that uses the office power to try to remain president

I don’t need a president that preaches hate

As far as policy goes, Trump really didn’t have a lot of policy other than enriching himself

As I figured.   I like you, John, but I am not sure how to communicate with you on this side of the board.

Biden is arguably the most racist president since LBJ, and has spent a career enriching himself and his family under the guise of public service.   Trump is also certainly a garbage person,  but I think his "remain in Mexico" policy is the right way to handle illegal immigration at the southern border.  If you disagree,  what is your alternative solution? Or are you proposing we leave the border fully open full time?

So just to let you know most of us don’t think that the 2016 election was stolen

Trump won because the Democrats backed to horrible candidate did not account for Trump‘s devoted base and thought there was no way that people were going to vote for somebody like Trump. They were wrong Trump.won

Of course, was a disaster and what they did was give Donald Trump protections that no one else in the world could receive because he was a president and then a former president

We don’t need to make the same mistake again I would rather it was somebody besides Biden on the ticket for the Democrats but there’s no way I’m voting for Trump

Which of Trump‘s actual policy decisions did you have an issue with, John?

Not sure what I’m being tagged here for but I will try to opine a bit based on this post.

I didn’t want Biden in 2020 and I definitely don’t want Biden in 2024. That being said, I’m a realist who understands that we unfortunately live in a two party system. Third parties are a joke unless and until we fix our election system.

Biden was the first Dem I voted for president and if my choice is between him and Trump, he’ll get my vote again in 2024.

While Russia did interfere in the 2016 election and the Trump campaign was very willing to accept their help, the 2016 election was not stolen in any sense of the word. Trump won. Maybe the Dems shouldn’t have nominated the one candidate who was almost as unpopular as Trump.

If there’s some other specific question you were hoping I would answer, let me know.

    You answered with the bolded.

    I don't like her.

Her relationship with her special prosecutor (and their testimony about it) doesn't pass the smell test.

But again ... so far, no smoking gun, and no solid basis for the judge to find her disqualified to prosecute this case. In other words, no showing that the defendants (including Trump) are prejudiced by her less than honorable conduct.

Isn't that almost better for Trump?  If she gets removed she will be replaced with someone squeaky clean.  If she stays Trump can claim that it's all rigged against him.

The amount that NATO countries pay is another matter openly, inviting an enemy to attack someone that you’re supposed to be defending should be unthinkable

But nothing is unthinkable in trump world

It’s not just the Trump is gross. He was a horrible president. He would be a horrible president elected again

For me, it’s not even about Democrat or Republican I would consider a Republican candidate that wasn’t Trump. I find myself rooting for Nikki Haley even though she doesn’t have a shot.

Russia was openly cyber attacking and spreading misinformation

How much did it help? I don’t know if anybody could actually know that.

John, did you read the article?  Do you understand Zito's point?  It's like she is speaking directly to you.  As for Trump, I think he is a horrible person. I like some of the changes that came from a policy perspective.  And it's ok to feel that way, which many people struggle to understand.

That being said, I'd prefer neither he nor the crypt keeper are on the ticket. Trump can't keep his mouth shut or phone turned off long enough to move the country forward, and there are people like you and many in the press who can't separate your hate for the man from the politics. It's like when ever Trump farts, there are people calling the smell worse than the actual holocaust.   It's unfortunate on both sides.

As for Russia, it seems like you aren't quite ballsy enough to come out and claim 2016 was stolen for Trump, but you are happy to tiptoe around it.  It feels like mot if you guys want to say it but cant quite do it.  Why do you think that is?

@Tiberius, how about you?  @Joe Ferguson forever? @ChiGoose Bueller?

@BillStime is probably the only guy with the stones to own it.

It’s really sad whenever you see the mental gymnastics that people go through to defend Trump‘s comments

They really should not be said at all, but Trump doesn’t care

Did you actually read the article before you posted this?  You should, it has some salient points.  Personally, I think Salena Zito's observation from 7 years ago is key to bridging a lot of divides.

As a person I think Trump is gross, but the axe he is grinding about our Nato partners not holding up their end of the bargain is valid.  Hell, the NATO Secretary General even agrees.
