People also need to understand (one of the geniuses of GMFB IMO) is with 4 people, for each segment in the production meeting they are able to "divvy up" who is going to flaunt what team/player for that segment. What it results in is they'll have a segment "Who is the best QB in football" - each person picks a different QB, and then 4 fanbases can post "GMFB says our guy is the best!". Even the Brandt Bills "fire up" speech was a running thing where he did one for multiple teams. BTW - the 4 consecutive AFCCG win segment was spot on. I've always told my son the 4 championships is the one thing that will never be repeated - never. All the crap of the SB losses - the 4 consecutive championships to get there is one of the most amazing accomplishments in sport.

I used to live near the golf course they used to play the Jimmy V celeb golf tournament and used to go every year. Berman was always there. I'd always yell Go Bills! And his face would light up Go Bills. I have a picture somewhere with him and my kids when they were like months old (22 yrs ago lol) - super nice, genuine guy in person

It was a decision I made over the last 4 years, decised to move on - my body definitely thanked me throughout the year especially as the weather got cold. Got to spend time with my family during the pandemic - also got to coach my kids in flag football been having a lot of fun with them. Just really enjoying the time. My time had come and gone and i was ready to move on. - Emotions watching the Bills this season - Really just a lot of enthusiasm for the guys, almost like their proud uncle. Knowing a lot of those guys, knowing where the organization came from - you know I was there before Sean and Brandon Beane and the Pegulas really put their mark on the organization. Seeing the transition in culture has really been cool. I was a part of it, I had to get out of the way to allow other guys to grow up and grow into the leaders they are - we've seen the maturation of Josh and Tremaine Edmunds - and to see those guys really take the lead and go a lot further than I ever could is a really cool thing to see and i hope the guys can pull it out this weekend - How teammates love Josh - what makes him special - Guys want to rally for him, run through the wall for him. It's like having a great coach that everybody respects and loves because they know that they truly, genuinely love you. He's not a prima donna - he had a lot of adversity in terms of naysayers in terms of ability and he never allowed that to bother him, and to see that work ethic. If you're ever in the locker room with him, he was never unapproachable. A lot of times guys have this persona about you being a QB and being the man that you almost can't approach that guy - and you never got that with him. He just has a great ability to relate to guys. Even with Diggs - him getting there and immediately feeling welcome and a part of the family, a lot of that has to do with Sean McD and Josh just ran with that and embodies that whole city very well as far as being blue collar, hard-nosed workin' - he comes from Wyoming, a cold weather city he just really fits in well there and has been a great ambassador for the culture as well as the city - Diggs - any concern at first - Knowing the culture that has been established, what a good job Sean has done and the veterans in the locker room - any issues that Diggs had in Minn I knew woouldn't transfer over. You hear a lot of people talk about it - things happen when a relationship breaks down and you need a change of scenery. I knew the guys would lift him up, hold him up, encourage him - obviously that helped the transition. I have a lot of respect for Brandon Beane and what he's done. Moves that he's made prior to that sometimes people question but they always seem to work out. He's done a great job along with the front office staff of identifying talent, understanding who guys really are, and that our locker room can absorb certain guys. Buffalo is becoming that place where you adopt that culture in the locker room - What is "the Bills way" - It's all based on love, respect and allowing guys to be who they are within the context of team. I think sean McD does a great job, better than any coach I've been around emphasising those principles, living by then daily. And always revisitng. Sean is a teacher at heart - does an excellent job of communicating his vision to the guys, and also empowering the players to extend that vision and culture into the locker room. And guys who have earned it have a lot of input and impact to the organization and him personally, and also on the younger guys in the locker room - <Discussion - no doubt Mahomes will play If Henne does play, the system will be the same so not much diff prepearation> - Defend Mahomes - Have to mix it up. Have to have personnel. Have to mix and match <Tre on receivers, Milano on Kelce> then have to have guys step up and make plays. in the end this is a players league and it's always about winning 1-1 matchups. <names a bunch of players - someone making a big play will be the difference in the game> Players making plays is what it's going to come down to in this game - Taron Johnson play - Play will live forever. there's no fan base like Bills mafia. And I've played in a bunch of different places and there's nobody close that i've experienced, on and off the field. They revere all <those guys who played on the SB teams> Taron making that play being a part of this new era of Bills players, will always have a free meal [ed. take note Buffalo residents], esp if they win the SB, he'll always have that respect from the city - Win it all - Hitting on all cylinders. Playing good football at the right time. I'm obviously biased, but even when I step back from it - still think they have a great chance. The way Josh is playing at an elite level. His growth as far as handling situations - being calm and collected and making smart football decisions. Unlike some times we say last year i don't think the moment will be too big, I think the'll be able to put up points. And the defense has really come on here, being opportunistic and making plays. if they can play sound football and minimize their mistakes and make Patrick and them boys earn it - they have a great shot. One thing I remember is when Josh first showed up it seemed Daboll was pretty hard on him - I seem to recall articles about Daboll being a taskmaster and clips of him being all over Josh. It's nice to see that they both grew together in their own ways.

On a GMFB segment this AM they were talking about the game and the subject got to unanimous agreement how LOADED the Bills are at WR Just two years ago: 2018: Zay Jones, Kelvin Benjamin, Robert Foster, Ray-Ray McCloud, Andre Holmes, Deonte Thompson, Charles Clay Just stare at that for a minute and drink it in - it's just crazy

There was a very good article by on Daboll in the Athletic last week with some cool info - didn't see anyone post about it here https://theathletic.com/2324003/2021/01/15/brian-daboll-bills-coaching/ One main theme was how early in his career he was inflexible with regard to accepting input. They interview Derek Anderson and Dimarco who had him for OC previously in Cleveland and KC respectively. Both talk about how at previous stops it was all "This is what we are going to do" with no interest in hearing player's opinions. Anderson said he was floored when he first got to Buffalo and Daboll was receptive to suggestions he had. As for Dimarco: It also talks about the evolution of Daboll's offense from being the Patriot offense to something that was his own They also talk about how he adjusted the terminology for no-huddle to a single word system to accomodate Allen and help have more control and autonomy at the LOS. In terms of his evolution as a coach They talk a lot about how player relationships have always been important to him - but it's taken to a new level with the Bills I thought this part was the coolest part of the whole article Other tidbits Relative to above they mention how bringing Dorsey on made it easier for Daboll to relinquish some control and go upstairs. So here’s my concussion story. When I was a junior in HS (1980 lol), I suffered a double concussion at basketball practice. I was running full out about to dive for a loose ball when my face smashed into the forehead of someone coming from the other direction (brain smashes into front of skull – concussion #1). They said I was out cold on my feet – incredibly still upright for just a second before I slowly fell backwards like a falling tower and my head smashed on the floor (brain smashes into back of skull – concussion #2). Everyone just stood there totally frozen. After some moments – one of my friends heard a faint choking noise. There was no blood, but my nose was shattered. He got closer and figured out I was choking on something – he turned me on my side and a huge flow of blood just started gushing from my face. The people there said they had never seen so much blood – like a bad movie. Not sure if that is recommended practice, but his quick action might have saved the situation from being much worse. I started to come to in the gym – I was out for minutes. Initially it was a complete fog, wasn’t even sure where I was at the beginning. The one funny thing is as I laid there the single thing that popped in my head was my Mom always said if you get in a medical emergency tell them the name of our family doctor – so I just started repeating “Hassenfratz. Hassenfratz.” over and over. They had no freaking clue wth I was saying or talking about (real concerns of brain damage at that point 😝) In the ambulance I started to regain more consciousness. It was funny because eventually I felt awake, but could not remember simple things. One of the paramedics was actually a very popular senior at my school – and in the ambulance I couldn’t for the life of me think of his name (which I think annoyed him), but I DID remember the name of his gorgeous girlfriend. For some reason I started with “Oh yeah – so-and-so is your girlfriend” and he’s just looking at me – and it started to get weird when I kept talking about her “Yeah, she’s in my typing class” (1980, people) and after a few more comments and seeing the look on his face, even in my altered state I had the presence of mind to STFU. These of course were the days before cell phones – it was Saturday morning and my Mom was out Christmas shopping and my Dad was deer hunting. I got to the hospital and had to wait on a stretcher in a hallway of the emergency room for hours, having to make uncomfortable small talk with my Coach (which might have been the worst part of the whole experience). Not sure how many times I said “You can leave now – I’ll be OK”. Eventually my brother came home from being out somewhere and heard the message on the machine. My Mom had left a note she was shopping at Eastern Hills Mall, so he called them and they paged her (can’t believe we actually used to live without cell phones). I eventually had surgery to reconstruct my nose, pretty sure I also either broke or dislocated my jaw. When I first got in my room I realized my jaw was killing me and I couldn’t open my mouth all the way so I forced it open and CRACK something popped. Never told anyone. Hurt like hell for a while after - more than my nose. Jaw hasn’t been the same since. Some other highlights from the hospital - The first night a Doctor rushed into my room in a tuxedo (coming from a Christmas party), shined a light in my eyes, turned to my Mom and promptly said “One of his pupils is bigger than the other – he could have bleeding in his brain” I’ll never forget the look on my Mother’s face as it turned ghostly white – at that point I was more afraid for her health than mine. Subsequently, after a bunch of tests they concluded one of my pupils is just normally bigger than the other - On the following Monday evening I was returning to my room having left for some test or X-ray. The MNF game was on TV. The guy in the other bed turns to me and says “They killed John Lennon, man!”. Will never forget the sound of sadness/pain in his voice. Anyway – this was a very different time. Never went through any concussion protocol or really any follow-up at all. They gave me some painkillers for headache – I was back at school by the end of the week, and started practicing again right after that (they gave me a mask to wear to protect my nose, but that lasted about 10 minutes). One thing I am pretty sure of – it wasn’t a pinched nerve.

His teammates know how he gutted through it though and no doubt that endeared him to them even more
