I thought your other post was akin to “Kyler Murray makes X amount of dollars. If he wants to play video games rather than study film, let him play his games. It’s on the offensive coordinator to adjust to Kyler.” 😅 I see what you mean by letting Allen play how he wants to play though, even if that means designed rushes. I’d rather hand the ball off to a RB than have Allen running by design and taking hits, but we’re just about at the point of “however we can get it done, do it.” He still needs to get better in season with his prep though. I’d love to be a fly on the wall when he meets with Dorsey and Joe Brady to review game film. If we can all see 4 Pats defenders on the left side of the line against only 2 blockers, Allen has to see the same, right? So why run the toss sweep? To me that was more egregious than not recognizing receivers that popped open in the endzone. I want to hear his explanations and what the coaches are telling him.

Im with Wayne on this. You have a 6 year veteran superstar QB who’s not executing the most basic of reads. What can Dorsey do to compensate for that? Call a high percentage of rushes and screen passes? What eventually happens to offensive coordinators who are forced to work with a subpar QB? Allen isn’t subpar, but he’s playing that way at times. Forget about what the money affords him, this is more on him to execute what’s there than it is for Dorsey to cater to a QB who’s not seeing the field well. In the case of the latter, those QBs are usually replaced by those who can. Josh simply needs to play better, but he’s not alone. Everyone needs to elevate their game.

If it happened in the game, it seems odd given the fact he took every snap and finished; not once coming off to go into the blue tent. Just what the Bengalis need, another break.

I think it comes down to preparation more than anything. We all speculate about how much film he watches, but you can’t tell me the All-22 shows a guy who’s in that film room constantly taking notes on different coverages. If Josh improves on anything, anything, I’d like to see it be pre-snap recognition. Knowing where to go with the ball, or at least where you think you should go with the ball based upon film study, would be immensely helpful for the offense. His concern about overdoing it in the film room was that the defense wouldn’t play the coverage they were showing on film. Well if your pre-snap read is wrong, okay let your instincts take over, react to what’s happening, but you can’t count on instincts down after down. Put in the study work and LOTS of it. You have receivers running open out there. EDIT: I also think this is the burden genetic freaks have on the football field. Lesser talents like Tua, Cousins, Purdy, etc. can’t win on arm arrogance. They have to find another way to succeed and that’s through film study, knowing where to go with the ball based on a look. We were able to take Tua’s first read away, where he thought he should go, and he lacked the physical ability to compensate for that. Allen doesn’t lack that ability and as a consequence, may not put in as much prep work as lesser physically gifted guys.

Elude vs allude. One means to dodge, or escape from, the other means to imply or suggest. #grammarpolice

Why is everyone focused on the Offense here?
Brand J replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall
We have a defensive HC, but with Josh Allen at QB, the team’s identity should be the offense. That has to be the unit carrying the franchise, not the decimated defense. The offense hasn’t been carrying anything since the Miami win and if they don’t snap out of it, will be in danger of missing the playoffs. -
Devils advocate...what is Josh is the problem?
Brand J replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ian Eagle and Charles Davis, can’t remember which one said it… maybe it was Davis, but who wants to tweet the games to them? Spreading false info to the masses is no bueno. -

Which games disprove it? I’m not on Twitter, otherwise I’d try to tweet them out to the CBS broadcast team. Maybe someone else can…? -

I think Cousins sees the field better than Josh. I mean, he has to, he’s much more limited physically. He also has a knack for completing passes under heavy pressure. That game against him last year was frustrating, seemed like he was just throwing the ball to no one in particular to avoid sacks but it kept finding a purple jersey. Throw and duck, he did the same tonight against the 9ers. Yeah I can live with turnovers if they’re being offset by TDs on other drives. But when the offense is struggling to put points on the board for most of the game? Those turnovers are magnified. Hopefully for all of our sake Josh and co figure it out. -

Brand J replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, I was surprised when I heard it and didn’t know how it could be true. Didn’t bother to research to prove them wrong though, just thought “wow.” The broadcast team probably heard the stat somewhere else and forgot to include “regular season.” 😂 -

They definitely didn’t say “regular season” so yes, those playoff games prove them incorrect. -

If you can find three games in a row where Allen had zero turnovers, going all the way back to his rookie season, send it in to the CBS team that called the game this past weekend, because they’re the ones who made the claim. -

Josh Allen set the standard for his elite level of play 3 years ago, now we all want to see that consistently, the sort of games he had against the 49ers, the Patriots, the Dolphins, etc. Correction, we don’t need to see that level of excellence every game, because quite frankly it’s impossible, but he hasn’t been playing nearly as well lately as he had in those aforementioned games. He is missing reads, he is missing throws, sometimes he doesn’t know where to go with the ball, all of those are true. Pointing out said truths doesn’t deserve an onslaught of excuse making or name calling from his most rabid supporters. Is Josh Allen the problem? No. But he is part of the problem. To say he isn’t is trolling. And yes, there are other aspects of the offense that aren’t working as well as they need to be, further contributing to the offensive funk. Last thing I will say… When Mahomes has a stinker of a game but finds magic in the end to put his team in the lead, KC’s defense almost always seems to rise to the top and stop the opposing offense from getting the points they need to tie or win the game. The same can’t be said for Allen. When he has a stinker of a game, but finds the magic to put his team in the lead, the Buffalo defense seems to give up what the opposition needs more times than not. If the defense was a bit more clutch, Buffalo’s record in one score games would be much stronger and Allen would have more career wins and… dare I say it… at least one SB ring. It was announced on the broadcast. I was shocked when I heard it myself. It was either “never has had two consecutive turnover free games” or “has never gone more than two consecutive games without a turnover.” Can’t remember the language used. -
That was mainly @BeavercreekBillsFantalking them up like an all time great team. I told him the 49ers weren’t anything close to that 2007 Patriots team that failed to go undefeated and that the 9ers wouldn’t either.

Beane reportedly looking for LB help (possible rumor)
Brand J replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh, now Beane wants him. He drafted Vosean Joseph right before Dre Greenlaw went to SF. -
He had some sort of hand injury a couple years ago I believe, but still threw a 2 pt conversion to Josh. I’m tired of seeing Knox targeted, followed shortly by the football bouncing on the ground. Next man up.

Did Dorien Williams get benched yesterday?
Brand J replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall
I said yesterday the last thing a young player needs is to be looking over his shoulder in fear of getting benched. You don’t want to mess with his confidence. Leave him in and let him take his lumps, it’s not like the player you’re benching him for is superior - that’s why he was on the bench in the first place. Let him make his mistakes, we’ll need that growth later in the year. -
Dorsey’s offense would look a lot better if the players executed what’s available to them. I’m not into the Dorsey bashing like many here. Could play calls be more innovative and creative? Sure. Does Dorsey need to stop running out of shotgun on 3rd and 1? Definitely. But most of the time plays are there to be made, the players aren’t making them. Even saw a comment yesterday saying the offense needed to be dumbed down for our QB. Like seriously? Throw an accurate pass. Catch the freakin ball. Block the man in front of you.
-
I don’t get the feeling that Allen is trying to overcompensate running Dorsey’s offense. I do think he’s being asked to play differently than he has in the past, which is take less risks, less running, etc., but he still has open receivers that he’s missing. Yes, some of those receivers drop perfectly catchable balls, but overall his accuracy and field vision aren’t where they need to be right now and that’s not the result of overcompensation. He’s in his head for whatever reason.

Did Thursday's game vs Bucs influence our play vs. Pats?
Brand J replied to VW82's topic in The Stadium Wall
There was a hangover after the KC win last year, also around week 6. Seems to be a pattern with this team. -
They said on the broadcast that he’s never gone two games (or more than two games) without a turnover in his entire career. That sounded so unlikely, but here we are.
-
And he’s a player that will need to be counted on later in the year. Why take that experience away from him? Last thing you want is for him looking over his shoulder because he made a few mistakes. He has to have the green light to play free and fast.
