  1. WE'RE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like a lot of you guys, been on GLB since season one....nice to finally be a (small) part of a championship!
  2. The kid has some chops! Good stuff. Even has a couple songs he wrote himself on youtube...almost like a little Billy Joel.
  3. [vader]...Tom Golisano never TOLD you what happened to your father....Bobby CLARKE is your father....come with us, and together we will rule the NHL as fans of the greatest hockey team in the universe!!!! [/vader] Don't try to fight it, Pooj....just let the philly sports culture slowwwwwwly cradle you in its loving arms, gently rocking you back and forth until you are able to become one of us....
  4. Shiit man, this team has been so close to getting over the hump so many times, it's GOT to be the year for them. I know that I'm one of the few on this board who LOVE philly, but I can attest to the fact that the hockey fans of SE PA deserve a championship. They are passionate about the Flyers as much as we are about the Bills, which is why I got all caught up in the thing when I lived in Philly. I can't wait to get this series started!! I really thought we were done for after the Bruins put us in that hole. This team has HEART, baby!! Awesome quote: Flyers coach Peter Laviolette added, "The game 7s are tough. There's a lot of pressure. It's a game that's made for men. And our guys proved to be men." I totally forgot that you guys were the 8th seed and we now get home ice advantage...welcome to south Philly, baby!!!!
  5. This is the Flyers team of DESTINY!!!!
  6. FLYERS BABY!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOHOOOO!!!! And the Braves just came back from 0-4 to win 6-4....what a night!
  7. lmao
  8. Danny Briere says 'hi'
  9. lol...that's kind of how I feel too...and if it's all someone's dream I'm gonna go apeshiit! Dr.D: the only problem I have with this whole situation is that probably most of the answers you would provide about various questions/carrots would be at least PARTLY speculation on your part. Everyone and their mother seems to have theories on this or that, which is great when it's a few areas, but I really think a lot of people are feeling as if it's a LOT of damn areas that are left open ended. I guess that's why I'll take the advice of you and the others who said to wait until the last few hours, but that just seems like a tall order for them to wrap things up with any level of satisfaction. But I guess we'll find out in a few days!
  10. Dead as a door nail.
  11. Well, if you guys have that solid of a grip on wtf is going on, then I'll shutup for a while and just watch the finale....lol I still see a helluva lot of carrots!
  12. '91 was my best year for going to Bills games. My best friend and I from HS were waiting tables at Tony Romas, making good tips, goign out every night for brewskis and Tahoes plates, chasing skirts, and then spending all day on Sunday at Rich stadium. We went to the Bears, Steelers, Dolphins, and Bengals (MNF) games that year and it was a blast! I remember sitting there in the stands watching this team and thinking, "wow, this team is unstoppable....and they play in BUFFALO!!!" lol Good times...
  13. I appreciate the fact that you're defending the show and all, and honestly this debate we're having is a lot of fun so I can understand better what I've missed over the past six years, lol. But don't you think you're having to use that line just a little too much? I can understand that here and there we have some minor details and plot points that we just need to accept and not worry about mindfukking, but doesn't it seem like we're having to say that about a LOT of stuff? And isn't a lot of that stuff really IMPORTANT stuff? Dangling a carrot here and there for the viewer is great....it adds to the fun. But I think we're at the point now where we have a damn SHIITLOAD of carrots dangling out there and not a whole lot of resolution. And I know, we still have 3.5 more hours....I can't wait!
  14. Rupert deserved to go after losing to Parvati in that immunity challenge....that was just embarrassing....he should have been able to hold those things up for MUCH longer than little parvati....pathetic
  15. Miss you, BiB!!!! RIP, brother
  16. FLYERS IN SEVEN, BABY!!!!! WHAT A COMEBACK!!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!! (that is all)
  17. lol, I don't know how any mortal male can resist that long-haired, mediterranean goddess look
  18. Maybe that's part of the problem for me is that I don't really feel like it cleared much up in terms of their backstory. I went from thinking Jacob didn't exist at all (back when Ben was always like, "jabob wants this" or "jacob said this"), to then thinking he was some enlightened, all-seeing, benevolent being who had some noble endeavor for which he needed to find a successor, to now just seeing him as some whiney, overly aggressive, teet-clinging weirdo. People online don't seem to know if the MIB is alive as the smoke monster or if he ceased to exist and smokey is an entirely separate entity. I get that this whole family drama with MIB, jacob, and the pseudo mom was the basis for a lot of stuff going on on the island, but as far as their individual motivations and goals and how they relate to the castaways? I still don't get it. Their real mom was hot, though....that much is certain
  19. Wow, reading the responses of the producers makes me sort of feel as if I don't want to ever watch anything they're involved with again lol. I appreciate that they want to do things their way and tell the story in the manner in which they envisioned it, but they act as though they're dumbfounded by the fact that fans are curious and want to know more about the mysteries and the other elements that they have put in the show. That seems somewhat antagonistic to me, in all honesty. They bring up the Sopranos and Seinfeld finale and how they were both controversial, but neither of those examples is really pertinent here, IMO. David Chase put PLENTY of clues and hints into the Sopranos finale that, when you actually pick up on them (which I didn't at first, admittedly), it's very clear as to Tony's fate. Seinfeld had no long-term overarching plot that needed to be resolved in the finale. Every episode was self-contained and the show was about "nothing" to begin with. That's completely different than having a show that runs for six seasons, where you introduce all sorts of back stories, sideways time lines, supernatural mysteries, etc etc, and then act surprised (and a bit defensive) when there are those fans who are left saying, "wtf?" If nothing else, I'm DYING to see these last few hours, lol...
  20. Thanks to all you guys who responded to me...I'm definitely not trying to be a detractor here at all, just really surprised at how much I disliked that episode, particularly after being so impressed with some of the others this season. I have a question for you guys: As some of you know, and as was pointed out in the thread earlier, I saw episode one of season one only a few months ago and I've watched every episode of the show in a very short time, as opposed to most of you who have been involved for the last several years. Now you have some shows that are self-contained in a single episode, some that run for a full season and then conclude, and then you have shows like Lost that take a story line and run it from the first season until the last. Now as tgreg pointed out a page or two ago, and something I TOTALLY agree with, is that good writing needs as solid start and a solid ending, and you worry less about the middle than you do those two things. For me, from a fan standpoint, if Lost ends up with more questions and open ends than it does explanations, I'll be disappointed but it's not a HUGE deal, I guess. But I can imagine that if I'd spent the last six years or whatever watching this show week in and week out, talking and theorizing about each episode and season, I'd be REALLY wanting to have some serious resolution to a lot of these main story arcs and plot points in order to feel satisfied. A lot of you guys are cool with just accepting that certain things aren't going to be explained any more than they have been, and you're cool with an open ended finale that you can continue to talk about, debate, and theorize over. Like PTR and others have said, though, it's pretty tough to imagine that they're going to find a way in the final few hours to really tie up many of these loose ends...so isn't that going to frustrating as hell for a lot of you?? I'm cool with writers using symbolism and subtlety, and allowing the viewer to reach the proper conclusion based on the clues that are provided, i.e. not having to explain away every single detail as if we're 5 year old children. But it really is hard for me to imagine that that the writers themselves have a clear understanding of how all these different elements relate to one another, and exactly what that "solid ending" will be to go along with what was a damn awesome beginning. Are those of you who liked last night's episode really content with things remaining unresolved? And is the idea of continuing to theorize as to "what it all means" really that satisfying to you than it can outweigh the desire for a more wrapped up ending?
  21. Why did you like it? If you talk about it a little maybe that'll help me see it in a different light. I just thought it was way too ambitious and tried way too hard. It didn't even really feel like it related to the rest of the story or the other characters, to be honest. Sometimes the more I think about something after the fact, the more I get it and the more I like it. That's what happened with the final Sopranos episode. Once I "got it", I saw it as a brilliant piece of tv making. But I don't have the same confidence here....I think this was a complete and total drop of the ball. BTW, what is with MIB's obsession with getting off the island? Didn't his dead mom tell him he was from the other SIDE of the island, which is why he went to live with those people to begin with? Why is he so adamant about leaving? And wtf is this idea that "channeling water and light" with a donkey wheel will somehow be his ticket off the island? I don't get it...
  22. Oh, without a doubt bro...as much as I've enjoyed getting up to speed with Lost, 24 was one of my favorite tv watching experiences ever. It's probably my favorite scripted tv show of all time
