  1. ...you'll give in with time, my friend....muah ha ha You've already had a taste of Flyers lovin'....it's futile to resist
  2. LOL, nice!! That Celtic/Ranger rivalry is intense!
  3. dude, I was pissing myself....every scene the guy is in, his face tells it all! lol I even heard a high pitched squeal come out of him when Jack was throwing him up against the wall
  4. That was easily the most VISCERAL experience I've ever had with a sports film in the theater. I loved every minute of it. I'd also have to throw out a vote for Miracle....loved that flick!
  5. Not sure what you mean by that
  6. It's pretty obvious that a lot of TBD'ers have non-Buffalo teams that they root for in other sports. I moved around a lot as a kid, so I became a fan of each of my teams in different ways and at different times. If you're a bandwagon jumper, then just pass by this thread. But if you're someone who has been a loyal fan of your teams, and you have a good reason for why you became a fan of those teams, I think it would be interesting to talk about them here and compare differences. My teams: Buffalo Bills - since 1985 Atlanta Braves - since 1981 Philadelphia Flyers - since 1995 Philadelphia 76'ers - since 1995 When I was a kid, I was all into baseball. I played wiffle ball every day possible with my friends in the neighborhood, collected cards, went to the games, listened to the games on the radio, etc. Combine that with the presence of Dale Murphy, who to this day remains my sports hero, and it's easy to see why I latched onto the hometown Braves (I lived in ATL for three years as a kid in addition to living here for the past ten years). When I moved to Rochester in '85, the Bills were often joked about on WCMF during the Brother Weaze show. I remember listening to some dude just hack all over them while we listened on the bus in the morning on the way to school. I had seen the Cribbs/Ferguson team play on MNF once or twice, but aside from that I really didn't know much about the team. I remembered watching Super Bowls from when I was very young up until this time, but I never became a diehard fan of the sport and i didn't really have a particular team that I followed. Anyway, the Bills became lovable losers to me, and I became more and more interested in the team and in football as a whole. Instead of having best friends who loved baseball, I had best friends who loved football, and I've been both a Bills fan and a huge NFL fan ever since. As for the Philly teams, I really had no choice in the matter. I had absolutely no idea of the intensity of the sports culture in that city, nor did I anticipate how passionate I would become about all-things Philadelphia. Like with football when I was very young, I remember watching all the NBA finals match-ups from when I was a kid...Magic/Worthy/Scott/Kareem's Lakers vs. Bird/Parrish/mcHale's Celtics....the rise of Jordan and the Bulls...but I never really became a fan of any particular team. With hockey, I had never really paid attention to the sport at all other than the AHL Rochester Americans when I lived in Rochester. The only real exposure I had to the Sabres was the Sabres ice cream flavor that Perry's ice cream made, lol. So with regard to those two sports, I had vacancies for "my team". I spent the next four and a half years in Philly, immersed myself in school and sports, and left there loving the Sixers and the Flyers. Okay, I know most of you stopped reading a long time ago....but I'd be interested to hear which teams you guys follow and why. I know you guys are out there!
  7. I know, I take a lot of crap for it....but I've been here long enough that I know my Bills bretheren will allow me to indulge my Flyers fandom for a few weeks out of the year....especially when they are about to be in the FINALS, BABY!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!
  8. You guys who are saying that JP wasn't Jesus might as well point out something as obvious as the fact that the sky is blue. Everyone knows that Frank Reich was Jesus!
  9. I fell off the wagon, too. Just didn't keep my attention.
  10. Completely agree...we saw Jack venture to the dark side with a few victims, then after that it's just a trail of bodies left in his wake lol....awesome! The guy who plays Logan deserves an emmy or something...the guy's expressions are KILLING me. Incredibly effective actor and I can't wait to see how this wraps up!
  11. Happy to oblige
  12. I can't pretend to know a lot about les canadiens, but holy crap, back to back shut outs....I wasn't happy when Bouchet was injured, but this guy we have in net now isn't half bad. Might be a different story back in Montreal....we'll see!
  13. Well I, for one, give a HUGE F! JP was excited to be in B-lo....he was making the town cool again and he was embracing the area as if it were his own home town. How can you not see the awesomeness in that? I wanted the guy to succeed so bad, and it killed me when he didn't. I get sick and tired of people crapping on the area I grew up in, so when someone comes along and tries to do similarly to what Jim Kelly does, I get excited about that...and you should too!
  14. Bad news....that episode did very little to change how I feel about last week's episode. Good news....this episode fuggin ROCKED. I was just ingesting every single detail, every word of every conversation, etc...very well written, VERY well acted, and a very satisfying set-up for the finale. I can't wait!!
  15. That would be awesome....he's one of the most interesting characters on the show...and also one of the best actors.
  16. Briere has been going apeshiit since 2nd period of the last Bruins game Les Canadiens has put up les GOOSE EGG over the course of the first four periods....muah ha ha!! EDIT: Make that the first FIVE periods
  17. I can't wait for tonight's episode either! I'm really hoping this one is a bit less controversial than the last lol
  18. Probst does seem quite smitten!
  19. I wondered about that, actually. Maybe Probst should start being the one to pick the winner since he sees the actual events AND the behind the scenes stuff, lol. To me, though, just like on Big Brother, it would seem like it's hard to really make a vote for the best player when you are kept away from the contestants and you only get to see certain things. So much of what makes a contestant great (or crap) is what they do behind others backs, which is where Russell is amazing. The guy will tell anyone anything in order to get things to work out as he wants them, and more often than not that exactly what happens. I wonder how much of that sort of manipulation the jury was really aware of? Cause it's stuff like that that allows us at home to see the guy as a master manipulator, whereas the people who only see him face to face just think of him as a jerk. They can't truly appreciate all that goes on behind their backs and behind the scenes when someone like Russell is at their best. Given how America has reacted to him the past two seasons, it's clear that as big of a jerk as he is, the fans of this show overwhelmingly recognize and acknowledge his mastery of the game. It's really too bad that not everyone on the show had a chance to see it, too. I think that's why Boston Rob during the finale was like, "heck yeah, Russell and I would have done very well as a team", whereas during the actual filming Rob basically saw Russell as some overconfident noob who had a lot to learn. It seemed pretty clear to me that Rob had a different view of Russell after having watched the show.
  20. Russells social game is pure intimidation and bullying...and I agree that it's not the most conducive approach to getting the jury votes, lol. The thing about Parv is that she's clutch. Even in a challenge that is based in physicality, she's able to step up and beat the guy to take the necklace. I wouldn't have minded it if she won, but Sandra?? Come on...
  21. With the exception of one or two really strong moves by Parv, which caught him by surprise, he did the exact same thing this season that he did last - he dictated EVERYTHING. Anyone who has any doubt about this guy's abilities just needs to watch what he did when he sent home Parv's best friend a week or two ago. She wasn't even on his radar at first, but then the minute he senses she has a stronger bond with Parv than he does, he immediately targets her, get the votes, and *bam*, she's history. He does this ALL THE TIME. Yeah, I get the fact that he ruffles feathers along the way, big time. I get that people don't like him. But there is no question the he's the sole survivor two time running, and it's a shame that he hasn't been rewarded for his efforts. In a way, though, I can't really blame the jury because they aren't privy to the guy's brilliance until after they've already voted and they watch the season back. You'd have to be a total idiot to see what we're seeing at home and not recognize the fact that this guy was a master manipulator, strategist, and CLOSER. Sandra winning in her season was a disgrace, and for her to win again is even more so. Just like the blonde chick that russell carried last season (you're right, Joe, I can't remember her fuggin name either lmao), Sandra was like the feather in the forrest gump movie. It just sort of floated this way and that, being completely irrelevant 99% of the time, until it just happened to land in the right place. But if they think giving her the million a second time enhances the reputation of this game, they're nuts. This game never started off as a popularity contest, and every time these stupid juries turn it in to one, it's taking away from what the game was truly meant to be, and that's a real shame.
  22. I figured for sure that this jury would be able to get past the hurt feelings and other BS and recognize the fact that Russell is the best player in survivor history. Instead, they reward the second weakest winner in Surivor history and give Sandra the money. Unreal. If America had been voting, as Russell said, he would have won two in a row.
  23. We shouldn't even BE in the playoffs, let alone handing the Bruins one of their most heartbreaking collapses of all time...niiiiice I keep watching that goal by Hartnell....the angle he had was SICK! Hairy bastard has some skills
  24. Come on, dude...can't you picture a 12 year old Billy Joel writing some songs like that about his first crush?
