I don't mean this as an attack against you personally, but I really hate when people post these sort of responses. I made it clear that this thread was about TD in the subject so if you're not interested, don't read it! It's simply interesting to me because TD came when we were not far removed from our last playoff run. We were used to having a solid, competitive team. Well, now it's over a decade since our last playoff appearance and we're two years into yet another regime (which the jury is still out on), so I'm simply curious if anyone's perspective has changed since when TD was in charge. I keep hearing people say how this team is the worst in the NFL, how free agents will never want to come here, etc. There was not a lot of love for the guy when things didn't work out as well as we'd hoped, so it's interesting to see if anyones perspective has changed and why. If you have some brilliant topic for discussion, go on and post it and lets talk about what you want to talk about. But this is something I was interested in, especially given how fickle Bills fans can be at times (myself included), hence the poll. Great point about the salary cap...I hadn't even thought of that when I was setting up the poll. We were in a bit of a mess, and he did make some tough decisions that got us back on level ground. It seems like I'm always hearing people say that FAs will never want to come here, blah blah blah, but TD brought in some pretty solid players. The biggest signing, of course, was TKO...I was so excited when we signed that guy that it was embarrassing! I know a lot of people felt that way. But I loved how active TD was, and he kept it interesting for us. Bledsoe didn't work out, and I admit I was one of the most vocal opponents of the guy after a while, but it sure was exciting when we first traded for him and started playing well. I also think it bothered me a bit when Buddy Nix mentioned how at 12:01 on the start of free agency he planned to be asleep lol. I'd much rather have Whitey burning the midnight oil and getting a guy like Jeff Posey signed. Sure, he wasn't a superstar, but it showed that TD was there to make moves to improve this team. Will all the talk about us pushing Maybin out the door too soon and some folks saying how it's a move we're already regretting, it's interesting to see if others feel the same way about some of the different people we've become disillusioned with over the years - in this case, ol' whitey.

I was thrilled when we signed him, and even though I felt his firing could be justified, I didn't want him to go. I know I was among very few others who also were pro-TD, but I was curious how some of you guys who wanted him gone feel about him now. Have you feelings changed? Do you want him back? Why or why not? All I know is that he made the offseason very interesting, and I truly believe he would have gotten it right eventually. But again, I know I was one of very few who felt that way

I love the fact that you're throwing this out here for some feedback, and I really want to offer some ideas, but I have no idea what you're talking about lol

the article is complete blasphemy. LONG LIVE THE MUPPETS!!!

I really had no idea what you guys were talking about, but I love Star Wars and even though I don't play much anymore, I'm fascinated by the current technology level of video games. I looked up this game on youtube and found this guy commentating on his play-throughs. Looks like a blast!

For all you fellow Jackasses out there, Jackass 3 is now available on Netflix streaming I will say, this was one of the few films I've seen where I thought the 3D aspect was well worth the extra cost, so if you get the chance to see it in that format don't pass it up! In the meantime, check it out in 2D and laugh your REAR off!!

Man 'survives' on frozen beer for 3 days
ajzepp replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Maybe I'm just not on my game today....but I'm thinking you must be a major fuktard to die of dehydration when you're stuck in a snow drift. When your body has to maintain temperature in freezing conditions, your caloric needs will skyrocket as a result. The calories from the beer were no doubt inadequate (and that's not a knock on beer...we all know beer is perfect) and so his body started relying on itself for the calories. It will break down glycogen stores first (in your liver) and then move on to stored fat and then muscle. It is surprising he lost that much in only three days, especially if he had access to a heater intermittently, but the conditions were extreme. -

Amen to that, brother. I hate the BCS. Obama was right to start stirring up some sh*t, I just wish he would have stuck with it. -

And don't forget, Bama was at HOME when they played LSU! You're exactly right, they don't deserve to be there - and that's coming from a fan of the SEC. -
LOL

I'm with you, Millbank. I'm as frustrated with this team for the way they've played at times as anyone else is, but I really like some of the younger players we have, and I agree that we are moving in the right direction. A couple of more additions to the front 7 on D to go with a solid secondary and our D will be in good shape. On offense we get Freddy back, get our Oline healthy again, and find another weapon at WR. We have a TE who has shown us a lot of promise this year in Chandler, and Fitzy signed the extension so he's our guy at QB for now. I don't think we're that far away. yeah, I can't believe how much they gave up for Palmer. He's a nice QB, but fux sake!

German town to be evacuated while 4,000 lb
ajzepp replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yes, exactly. That's what I'm saying. The "separate but equal" part was the sort of thing Germans were on board with and accepting of with regard to the Jewish people. That IS a long way from the death camp thing, and that's why I make this distinction to begin with. Can you today say that "all Americans are racists who support the murder and extinction of all AFrican Americans"? Of course not. Even though back in the middle part of last century you had people in the south (and in the north, Im sure) who WERE taking part in lynchings and murders, you can't just take the leap and say that all Southern Americans were on board with this, even if they happened to hear about that sort of behavior and knew it was going on. I don't know if I'm articulating myself properly here, as it's 4am, but I know the point I'm TRYING to make here lol. -

This is a bit of an aside, but I thought I'd share with you guys a story from my experience as an RN (and as a human). Back in 2003 I was working a senior psych floor at a local Atlanta hospital. I took report on the patients I was responsible for that shift, and I went off to do my rounds and check some vitals. I went into one room and there was little man, thick white hair, approx 92 y.o.. He was very polite, and I noticed that he had an accent that was not one I immediately placed. Anyway, I went do to his blood pressure, and I saw a tattooed number on his arm...it looked pretty old and worn, and it was maybe like 8 or 9 digits long, IIRC. I noticed him looking at my name tag as I was taking the blood pressure. He couldn't see very well, so he sort of grabbed/patted my arm and said, "I can't quite see your name...what is your last name?" I told him it was Zeppenfeld, and it was pretty much at that moment that I realized exactly who was sitting in front of me. Now my family came to American in the late 1800s, and I have about as much connection (in practice) with Germany as I do Zimbabwe. But that is my heritage, and I often identify with it (this thread is an example of such). I was so emotionally upset at the thought of this man having to go through what is my understanding of a Nazi concentration camp that I had to step away an take a longer break than usual to get composed. I will never become desensitized to the atrocities committed on German soil; being German-American ensures that. -

Yes, but the reason they had popular support had to do with nationalism and the desire for a stronger Germany, not because Nazis were evil F'ers who wanted to murder a group of people. We are not that far removed in this country from the manner in which we treated African Americans. There were a lot of people here who were in favor of segregation and "acceptable forms of discrimination", as well. It may have been more on the state level than a federal level, but the example is pertinent. -

I actually asked this question once to someone who was affiliated with the Museum of Tolerance. They explained to me that the Nazis went to great lengths to keep secret their plans. There was a lot of political pressure to comply with laws passed in and around Germany that pertained to discrimination against Jews, and yes, this is inexcusable. But I'm sorry, most Germans were not aware of nor on board with plans for the genocide that took place there. Nazis can burn in hell. -

Sorry, but as a German American, I would hope it would be clarified that Nazis, not Germans, were the perpetrators of WWII. Just like in this country, it's not appropriate to say "Americans" ruined it...it's more politically correct to say the "Democrats" ruined it. -
Another 40-something...unreal. So sad to hear this news...RIP

I hope you're right, man...I'm ready for this show to get crazy again.

I'm glad to hear you say that about the 880s, cause those are the ones the Schitt guys recommended to me, too LOL. I actually had a brief email correspondence with BD, beacuse they make a product called "Headzone" which is very cool. It's a headphone amp that also supports 5.1 DD/DTS tracks, and the headphones they market with that are the 880s. Doesn't quite do all I need it to do, but I'm partial to either American or German companies. I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that, like you, I'll end up buying a product that is manufactured in China. All things being equal, I will chose USA or German made first, but it seems that lately there is a LOT of very high quality, high value audio gear that is designed elsewhere, but built in China. There is even a guy on Audiogon from China who basically buys ICE amp modules from Denmark and builds his own amps from his house...the product looked great and there is a long thread on him over at AudioCircle (I forget the name of the company). It's really an interesting time to be in this hobby, and some of the gear coming from Asia is seemingly very good. Do you have any experience with Grant Fidelity? It's Canadian designed, Chinese built audio products. They have a DAC (model number is "11", IIRC) that is sort of like the swiss army knife of DACs. I'm seriously considering adding an outboard tube amp to it to power my speakers, cause it does just about everything else I need and has (supposedly) a class A headphone amp built in.
