  1. I had never heard of this until I started working for my wife. She owns a Literacy Center for children and adults who fit the Dyslexia profile. A common diagnosis to go along with Dyslexia is Irlen Syndrome. From Google: Irlen Syndrome, also known as Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome (SSS), is a neurological condition that affects how the brain processes visual information, particularly in response to certain wavelengths of light. Symptoms: Difficulty reading (e.g., blurred vision, eye strain, headaches) Sensitivity to bright lights Visual distortions (e.g., halos, shimmering text) Poor depth perception Motion sickness Fatigue Difficulty concentrating Causes: The exact cause of Irlen Syndrome is unknown, but it is believed to be related to an imbalance in the brain's processing of visual signals. It may be associated with other conditions, such as dyslexia, autism, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Diagnosis: Irlen Syndrome is typically diagnosed through a screening test that involves wearing colored overlays or lenses and observing how they affect the individual's vision and symptoms. Treatment: The primary treatment for Irlen Syndrome is the use of colored overlays or lenses that filter out specific wavelengths of light that cause discomfort. These filters can help to reduce eye strain, improve reading ability, and enhance concentration. Other interventions may include: Adjusting lighting in the environment Using audiobooks or other non-visual learning methods Employing assistive technologies, such as magnification devices Prevalence: The prevalence of Irlen Syndrome is estimated to be around 1-10% of the population. It is more common in individuals with learning disabilities or other neurological conditions. Note: It's important to note that Irlen Syndrome is a controversial condition, with some researchers questioning its existence or effectiveness. However, many individuals report significant improvement in their symptoms with the use of colored filters or lenses. I was screened this morning, and I was diagnosed with a severe case of Irlen's. I'm not dyslexic, but have ADHD which Irlen's can also be a common diagnosis with. I tried a number of different lens overlays. And holy F!!! The difference the correct overlays made in my vision was life changing. I'll be ordering my Irlen glasses tomorrow. This will help me with work, school, golf, basically everything.
  2. I like what Prime Vision is doing, with 3 different field goal lines and percentage of probability making the kick.
  3. Don't worry. I got your back. Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries. Fight me.
  4. You really can't argue with that, but that's the "beauty" of Sean McVay's system.
  5. And just like that, Nacua misses a block and it's SF's ball.
  6. Puka Nacua is currently the best WR in the NFL, and it's not particularly close.
  7. You're not going to stop a QB sneak if there's no one lined up across from the QB
  8. Imagine the price on those things when major construction delays happen at the new stadium and 2026 has to be played in the old stadium I kid
  9. Good topic. I mean, it's not like the Bills offense has scored 30 plus points in each of their first 4 games this year. Oh wait...
  10. One of the owners of Ellicottville Depot, the husband, passed away about a year ago, and his wife/co-owner shut it down about 6 months ago.
  11. Just ordered a copy. Should be a great read!
  12. Sound advice and he's right.
  13. If this is a white out, and nice temperatures at game time, how many farmer tans will we see on guys with beer bellies on National TV? I shudder to think about it.
  14. The family that owns BarBill entered into an agreement with Holiday Valley to take over an old restaurant and serve BarBill style wings and 189 Burger style burgers (which is also owned by BarBill). Paywall but I'll post the article down below https://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/news/2025/09/30/bar-bill-tavern-holiday-valley-ellicottville-depot.html?utm_source=st&utm_medium=en&utm_campaign=ae&utm_content=BU&j=41796048&senddate=2025-09-30&utm_term=ep4&empos=p4 Holiday Valley, Bar-Bill Tavern team up on restaurant venture The Ellicottville Depot is coming back under a new ownership team with lots of experience. The team behind Bar-Bill Tavern is partnering with Holiday Valley Ski Resort to reopen the bar/restaurant at 6094 Route 219 South in Ellicottville. The venture, to be called just the Depot, will be led by brothers John and Harry Crook, who oversee finance and operations, respectively, at the three Bar-Bill locations in East Aurora, Clarence and Rochester that are owned by their parents, Clark and Katie Crook. The Ellicottville Depot closed last spring after 50 years in business and was sold to an affiliate of Holiday Valley Ski Resort in a $1.35 million deal handled by Holiday Valley Realty Co. that closed Sept. 17. The family was invited by friends on the Holiday Valley board of directors to see the space, where they met the former owner and had dinner. “We fell in love with the history of it, the vibe of the place and how quirky it was,” John Crook said. “We fell in love with the idea of continuing the Depot and the ability to bring the brand into a next generation of life.” The Crooks will operate the 1,560-square-foot restaurant, located on one acre across the street from the base of the ski resort under a lease. In a news release, Holiday Valley President and General Manger Dennis Eshbaugh said the resort has had a close relationship with the Depot over the years. “We are excited about the future and believe the Crook family will build on the history and great memories that Vicki and Moose created during their long-tenured stewardship of this very special place," he said. There have been rumors for a few years that Bar-Bill was expanding, but those rumors were quickly dispelled by the Crook family. Instead, the Depot will reopen under the same theme and brand as before. The Ellicottville Depot was operated by the Brown family for 45 years. The closure followed the death last September of Chris “Moose” Brown, who ran the restaurant with his wife, Vicky. It won’t be the first outside venture for the Crook family, who also operate 189 Burger in East Aurora next door to Bar-Bill. John Crook said they’re working to trim down the Ellicottville Depot menu. It will include Bar-Bill style wings and possibly a 189-type burger. “The different brand gives us kind of more freedom to try things we wouldn’t normally do at Bar-Bill,” he said. “We’re going to try to make her menu, but we’re going to make it a little more concise.” An opening date has not yet been determined, as the team is checking out the building and any updates or repairs. While Holiday Valley bought the land and building, the Bar-Bill team bought most of the furnishings and equipment inside from the former owner. “We purchased all of Vicky’s contents,” he said. “That was important to us. We wanted to make sure it didn’t lose the Depot flavor. The interior will feel almost the same.” Plans call for opening before year-end, pending liquor license approvals and the hiring of 15-20 staffers, including former employees who want to come back. “We hear hiring is a struggle – it’s such a small town – but we’re hoping obviously to be open by ski season,” he said.
  15. My wife's and my favorite hotel in Fort Lauderdale. The Atlantic. https://www.atlantichotelfl.com/ A friend of the late Neil Peart of Rush told me that Neil used to stay there every time Rush played Miami. I can see why. Very nice hotel.
  16. Do the refs penalize bad teams more, or is it that Sauce just haven't watched enough Bills games? https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46435063/sauce-gardner-says-refs-harder-jets-losing-team Sauce Gardner says refs harder on him because Jets losing team Star cornerback Sauce Gardner believes the officials are picking on him, and he claimed it's because the New York Jets are a losing team. Gardner, penalized for pass interference in a 27-21 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Monday night, said he's "personally frustrated." It was the second straight week that he was flagged for pass interference. "I watch football all the time, and I just feel like -- I don't know if this is wrong to say -- but I think I get called for more stuff just based off of us not winning," said Gardner, who signed a four-year, $120.4 million contract extension before training camp that made him the NFL's highest-paid corner. "I watch these winning programs, and there'd be some egregious things, and it don't get called. They're letting the players play."
